Dover/Calais. It's Cheap and the best VIP lounge offering on the channel.
I go over to France from Dover every two weeks and have been doing so for years. In that time I have used all the ferry operators but for the last 15 months I have only used Irish Ferries. They are the cheapes, they have the best frequent travelers perks (DFD & P&O's offer is no existent) but for me the most important is they have by far the best VIP/Club Class lounge of any of the other operators. If you factor in the cost of a meal at the standard canteen the exstr cost of the Club Class Longe is minimal and for that you get a very nice three course buffet meal with lots of options, all possible drinks including whisky and wines and very very comfortable and quiet lounge. For me it's very much a highlight of the trip.
Excellent easy experience
Excellent easy experience. Very professional staff on boarding and disembarkation…. very helpful. Food amazing on board and very friendly staff. Highly recommend and will travel again.
Trouble free travel with a Company that cares.
I dispute what seems to be a low Trust Pilot rating as having used other operators I definitely recommend Irish Ferries above all. They certainly cater well for people with disabilities and from what I observe, those with children and pets too. I can't rate them highly enough and wouldn't travel with anyone else.
Irish Ferries is first rate

Shout out to Clare! Thank you
Perfect way to travel for autism and children
Booking was easy. Really was great value with the tesco club card. My child has a disability so contacted disabilities office in irish ferries and organised priority boarding near a lift. Very easy to do. Was able to look up the ferry in advance which is important for autism to know and familiarise as much as possible in advance. Staff were excellent worked very well together. On the way back, I booked the wrong ferry but staff were so calm and professional and we sorted it quick and were on the ferry whilst still getting our lift space. On board, staff ere just as helpfull sorting our food and ensuring we were happy. Honestly, they went above and beyond. Soft play area was perfect for my youngest and cabin was essential for my autistic child who was rocked to sleep by the movement of the sea. He was so calm on board it was wonderful. Thank you.

Good customer service
Good customer service, shop and brasserie good. Very disappointed with Cabins no TV was our first time in one on outward and return journey. Accessable cabin very cramped. Speaker system in accessable cabin didn't work. So couldn't hear announcements to go to car.

Excellent experience on board Oscar Wilde's Club Class lounge
We crossed the Channel 4 times in 2025-2026 and were delighted by the Club Class lounge on board Oscar Wilde. Large, classy, well decorated, comfy, well equiped. Staff was nice too and the food perfect. All ferries on time. Check-in "fluid". Our favorite ferry accross the Channel (Oscar Wilde)

Best Ferry I have ever been on.
I travelled from Holyhead to Dublin with a pet on the James Joyce in a pet cabin. Ferry was on time, boarding well managed and all staff very helpful. Pet cabin had an en suite, clean towels and toiletries and was spacious. Restaurant food was excellent and staff very helpful. The pet facilities were really good with an outside area for a leg stetch. Based on my experience I cannot recommend this company highly enough.

Easy booking
Easy booking, good value/price for a return trip within 5 days, bit older ship, but agreeable, clean, services allright. Ferrying: it is what it is.

Breakfast prices extortionate and cold.
Went on Irish Ferries Fr8day 23rd October 2026 from Dover to Calais.
Bought x2 cooked breakfasts with x 2 cups of tea. It was cold when we sat down to it it. Cost £35.
Total joke. All catering staff were grumpy amd rude and didn't even look at you, treated us like we weren't there.
Drove over in a lwb van, cost us £260 for return journeys.
Cost us nearly £300 and we have yet to use them on our return journey from Calais to Dover.
Very poor overall experience.
Will be seeking alternative Ferries in the future.

Defo the best Calais /Dover choice
Despite a delay at check in we boarded our scheduled crossing on time. The ferry was clean, comfortable and well staffed. Although we didn’t buy any food on board it smelt delicious.
The duty free deals looked good but we didn’t take advantage of them.
Easy Calais to Dover route.

What to expect more from a ferry
What to expect more from a ferry? It has been on time, lower price than other operators, a little bit old ships, a little bit pricey the food on board, but lot of space to stay
