The Wee Spruce was an absolute gem

The Wee Spruce was an absolute gem. It's in a beautiful location with great views. The cabin itself was nice and clean on arrival, the log burner was all set up ready to be lit (sadly it wasn't cold enough for us to use it). There were books and games in the property which is a good idea. We put the heater on when we arrived just to warm it up a little and it was soon toasty warm.
The kitchen area had everything you need. It has an induction hob (two rings) and a microwave. All cutlery, pots, pans, plates, etc were provided. There was a coffee mahine with pods. There was salt and pepper provided too and some cooking oil. Also had a decent size fridge with small freezer compartment (with a bag of ice in there)
The bathroom was nice and clean and had everything needed. The shower was nice and powerful. The towel radiator got the bathroom lovely and warm and dried the towels quickly.
The heater in the bedroom was really effective so like I say, we had no need for the log burner. The bed was comfy with just enough room at either side to get in and out (but mind your head!!). The doors are low but for the likes of us (not taller than 5ft 2!) it wasn't an issue. I did bump my head once on the sloped ceiling in the bedroom but I didn't do it again 🤣. All the door are well labelled with 'mind your head' signs as a reminder.
The living area was nice and spacious with wooden floors and nice big rugs. The couch was big enough for us both to lay out in and evening whilst watching TV/reading/listening to music.
The BBQ area was again nice and clean with seating area with cushions and blankets. It's a lovely under cover area so you can BBQ in any weather with the first set of coals provided.
The hot tub was very clean and well maintained. Steve (owner) checked it regular which was great. Robes and slippers were provided for when we used the hot tub, again another nice touch. Part way through the week Steve brought us fresh towels which I've never had whilst staying in a cottage or cabin before.
Steve and Maggie were lovely. Always on hand if we had of needed anything just being next door but they didn't intrude in anyway on our time there. We also appreciated the lovely welcome pack.
It's in a great location, near enough to the local town for anything we needed but far enough away to feel like we were secluded.
All in all we had a great week there and would highly recommend it and we would go back again.

Group stay

power cut and then TV didn't work for the rest of our stay. The TV is very limited, installing a smart one would at least allow us to use iplayer etc. It had not been cleaned under the sofas but all the bedding was really fresh. This is a remote cottage for group stays so bring plenty of supplies. There is a co op open in hawkshead most of the time which is two miles away.

Holiday Cottages - making booking pain-free.

Holiday Cottages are excellent from start to finish, taking any worries out of the experience of booking accommodation. There is clear information from booking right up to the day of the holiday, along with reminders when the balance is due 8 weeks before. We were provided with clear instructions regarding how to get there, who to contact etc.
We have used Holiday Cottages before and would use them again.

The cottage was a little gem

The cottage was immaculate, well equipped and in a fantastic location. It was within a 5 minutes walk to the local dog friendly pub which served good food and had a couple of circular walks from the door.
The lounge and bedrooms were very comfortable; the kitchen had plenty of crockery and cutlery and the bedrooms were a good size.
The downstairs bedroom had an en suite bathroom with a walk in shower suitable for someone with mobility problems but note at the moment there are no handrails.
There was a welcome bottle of wine, milk and biscuits.
Communication before the holiday was good - giving clear directions and instructions for access to the property.
The location to local beaches and other places along the Broads was excellent.
There was a little local shop with a limited stock of essentials but large supermarkets were within easy reach.
