never use thrift Spain
Good Afternoon
I booked my car rental through you, I added all the information required including the flight number.
Our departure was delayed by about 20 min initially, then on the runway the take-off was abandoned, we were held on the plane for about 2hours or more, while they sorted out the issue, we were told to keep phones on airplane mode so could not calls.
When we arrived in Valencia, went straight to the car hire place, where we had to wait another 20 to 30 min to get served , then were told as we were over 2 hours late our car was given to someone else and the only was we could get a car was to pay 240 euros for an “upgrade” an automatic station wagon, which in my opinion was not an upgrade as I do not like station wagons, and they said they had no other cars at the same price.
Why do we supply the flight number? I thought that was to make allowances for delays, so the car company would know we were still on our way.
I always have my own car rental excess insurance (icarhireinsurance ) which they seemed not to like but I know I’m covered.
Usually I hire on a full to full policy so made sure I returned the car full and it was signed off full when returned and the car was checked and it was signed off that there was no extra damages.
I have now got a charge from Herts ( firefly/thrifty) for £303, but have not got a receipt explaining where that cost comes from.
I urge you to look at Trustpilot reviews on specifically Valencia airport and this seems to be a regular occurrence, I urge you not to use them.
Often use OK mobility and have always given then 4 or 5 star reviews as they seem to be good and honest.
It seems to be a patten to give a low price on booking and then use tactics to increase the price dishonestly which in turn does not reflect well on your company.
When one arrives are a car rental desk with bags one is in an impossible situation as one needs the car, Last minute rentals from other companies would be super expensive, they know its pointless for us to argue as we are in a foreign country with accommodation reservations that has cost us a lot of money and we can’t refuse the extra cost for the forced questionable upgrade without sacrificing our whole vacation.
Herts/firefly/thrifty or what ever they are called seems to be disappointingly dishonest bullying travellers to pay for more than they initial agreement.
