Disaster, start to finish
I deeply regret buying my Ford Transit Custom. Within just one year, the wet belt failed catastrophically, leaving me stranded and requiring a complete engine replacement. The process caused major disruption to my work, financial loss, and a great deal of stress. The courtesy van provided was faulty and had to be replaced. When I finally collected my van after more than two weeks in the garage, I found dents that weren’t there before, and it hadn’t even been cleaned. When I raised these issues with Ford, my complaint was dismissed due to “no evidence,”. What disappointed me most was Ford Credit’s complaint handling. After sending the final response, the complaints handler refused to speak with me directly. Instead, I was told through a colleague to reply by email because they didn’t want to speak to me. That level of customer service is unacceptable. From start to finish, this has been one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever encountered. I have lost all confidence in Ford and Ford Credit and I would never buy another Ford vehicle again.

Another amazing trip to Mark and his team of mechanics at dunstable Ford in the servicing department. Fixed my vehicle fast and went above and beyond to help. Will only use them for all my vehicle needs. Also great service from Ella and Moe in reception. Thanks guys.
Ford are apparently unwilling to accept…
Ford are apparently unwilling to accept the known issues being faced with the 1.5 ecoblue diesel engines, 2018 -2022. Even though other manufacturers like Peugeot etc have had a recall on their vehicles with this engine.
There is an issue with the 7mm cam chain which is know to prematurely snap rendering the engine a write off.
There have been bulletins issued to dealerships, but when you speak to the unhelpful customer relations team, they are dismissive and verge on rude.
The solution is to replace the chain with an 8mm and new cam shaft ect. This is at a cost of over £2000.
The engine clearly has a design fault as from 2023 they have upgraded the chain to 8mm.
Ford have already obliterated their reputation with their infamous "wet belts". Perhaps this is why they won't take responsibility for these issues.
My advice is contact the press, watchdog, etc. It's evident looking online these issues are wide spread.

AVOID BUYING FORD AT ALL COSTS!
After 40 years of buying Ford cars, I will never buy one again. My 2022 Fiesta ST-Line suffered major engine damage caused by wet belt debris contamination, resulting in oil system contamination and turbocharger damage. The vehicle had covered only approximately 27,000 miles and was three and a half years old. Ford’s official service interval for the wet timing belt in a Fiesta ST-Line is 10 years or 150,000 miles. Wet belt issues on this make of car were known to exist by Ford and I should have been advised of this or had the vehicle recalled for checks. I believe the car was extremely dangerous for me to drive and engine failure could easily have occurred while driving at 70 mph on a motorway. Ford's customer relations concluded that the car’s service history alone explains the failure and I, therefore, do not qualify for goodwill assistance. I maintained it and have invoices from VAT registered garages showing work undertaken including an oil and filter change. The engine failure which had to be repaired is entirely disproportionate to the vehicle's age and mileage which should outweigh any shortcomings in the service record keeping. Shortly before the manufacturer's warranty expired and after my local garage detected engine issues during its service, I took the vehicle to a Ford dealer garage because I wanted reassurance that there were no underlying issues before the warranty ended. Following their inspection, they advised there were no concerns. I relied on that professional assessment. Had any developing issue been identified at that stage, it could have been investigated while the vehicle remained under warranty. I paid £3,149 for repairs and the same day I had to arrange further work due to the same issues as before. A Turbo Boost Valve was fitted. 2 days later the same issues and dashboard messages appeared. I had to drive it yet again to the Ford dealership 30 minutes away. They recalibrated the powertrain. 2 weeks later, I’m having the same issues and dashboard messages appearing.
As I was told I wouldn't be given a courtesy car, hire car for two weeks cost me an additional £422.25.

Ford transit eco blue had an injector failure out of warranty in France on holiday touring in campervan. 14k miles 3.5 years old. in summary Do not buy an EcoBlue 2.0 ...don't ..full stop...never. I took line of least resistance local garage knew it was injector replaced it £700 lighter went on my merry way. Contacted Ford UK when got back home . not interested in French repair and doubted its authenticity although it still works ! Asked about changing other 3 injectors...you need to book in a dealer , get their assessment, get a quote and Ford UK MAY make a good will gesture. It's a joke...3.5 years old..14k miles....that's rubbish quality & design they should be coming to you to fix it. I've got wet belt issue to come.
When corporate policy replaces responsibility, the customer is simply abandoned
Our experience with Ford UK has fundamentally changed how I view a company whose name once represented reliability and trust.
We purchased a brand-new Ford Transit Custom for approximately £41,000, an essential vehicle for our small business. Problems arose virtually from the beginning. Before the vehicle was even six months old, it suffered a major failure and subsequently spent around ten weeks with a Ford-authorised repairer. It was eventually returned with additional damage, continued to exhibit faults and later required investigation by another Ford dealership. That experience generated further concerns, including information we were given about testing and repair activity which appeared inconsistent with time-stamped FordPass vehicle data.
Eventually, we escalated matters to Ford UK's Executive Office.
I want to be entirely fair: the individual case handler assigned to us maintained contact and made genuine efforts to obtain information from the dealerships. My criticism is not of her personally. It is of the corporate system within which she was operating.
Despite the extraordinary history of a virtually new £41,000 vehicle, Ford UK's response remained constrained by organisational boundaries and procedure. Warranty matters belonged in one place. Questions concerning rejection or replacement belonged somewhere else. Dealership conduct was another organisation's responsibility. Continuing faults meant yet another investigation.
And when previous investigations had failed to resolve matters, the answer appeared to be simply to investigate again.
Everybody appeared to have a boundary. Nobody appeared to have ownership.
At what point does a multinational organisation stop explaining the limits of its responsibility and actually take responsibility?
Every organisation involved seemed remarkably capable of explaining what it was not responsible for. The dealership could point elsewhere. Ford could point towards the seller, finance provider or another repairer. Each organisation had a contractual boundary, departmental process or policy behind which it could retreat.
Meanwhile, we remained responsible for everything else: the disruption to our business, lost working time, repeated journeys, endless correspondence, continuing payments, uncertainty and the considerable stress of trying to resolve problems with a vehicle that was purchased brand new precisely because a small business needs reliability.
There is something deeply troubling about a commercial system in which everybody can satisfy their procedure while the customer remains comprehensively failed.
Ford may be able to argue that particular matters technically fall outside the manufacturer's direct contractual responsibility. But customer care should surely mean more than identifying the minimum boundary of legal or corporate obligation.
Policy should be the floor of responsible behaviour, not the ceiling of human decency.
Large corporations increasingly speak about values, customers and trust. Those words mean very little when tested only during successful transactions. The true measure of an organisation is what happens when something goes seriously wrong.
Can somebody within that organisation look beyond departments, contracts and process and say:
“This customer has clearly been failed. What can we actually do to put this right?”
That is what I hoped Ford UK would do.
Instead, our experience has been one of fragmented responsibility, procedural responses and a corporate structure seemingly far better equipped to explain why responsibility lies elsewhere than to take meaningful ownership when one of its customers has been badly let down.
For a global company of Ford's scale, that is profoundly disappointing.
Vehicles may be manufactured on production lines. Customers should never be treated as though they are simply another case moving through one.
Ford Assist :- Absolute waste of time
Ford Assist :- Absolute waste of time! We called out for help when car stopped working and after two hours a tow truck arrived, engineer was cancelled from coming out to us ? We were taken in the opposite direction of travel and 'dumped' outside a Ford garage which was closed. The alleged hire car was not where we were told to collect it as one hadn't been ordered ! We were left stranded in an industrial estate over 90 miles from home in the evening. We had to unload our luggage and get the train home ! No one at Ford Assist to help us other than told get a taxi home and receive £50 towards the cost! What an utter shambles and no one gives a toss about this situation. We have had to pay ourselves to get our car back home. Customer service contact number a complete waste of time.

With Ford for 40 years plus but the last car we bought blew the head gasket and porous cylinder head. It was registered incorrectly and because of this our insurance was invalid, we then had the ridiculously laborious task of Ford agreeing to the actual model and then trying to correct the V5 and it was during this process, which is still going ongoing, that the car stopped working, after 3 weeks of purchasing it. Contacted Ford to explain that the porous cylinder head had caused the destruction of the engine - a known manufacturing fault on the T8MA Duratorq 2 litre engine - and they couldn't care less. Two major problems caused by Ford and they will not admit liability. Shocking.... now moving over to Suzuki 4x4 as the warranty usually actually means something and its 10 years. The garage we bought the Ford Kuga from is giving us a full refund, as they do not want to argue with Ford or replace whole engine and associated parts.
I remember why I dont use ford for services
I remember why I dont use ford for my services. Awful experience. Obviously feel they are doing the customers a favour by seeing the car. Worse as this is a recall. Currently looking for my first brand new car which will rely on the manufacturers servicing for warranty and have literally just decided not to go with a ford as this is awful. Cant do specific times. State ford is wrong about times. Charge for a vehicle for a recall for safety. And finally rude with it.
Worst customer service ever!
It’s a one star because I cannot leave a zero. I purchased a new Puma last year within 4 months a flashing engine light appeared along with a juddering engine. They repaired it. 9 months later it starts again. I keep taking it to garages who say there’s nothing wrong. I’ve videoed it with the engine light flashing to prove there’s an issue. Ford customer relations just say sorry but can’t offer a solution, Ford credit have said pay for an independent assessment I think this is their responsibility as the car is only 15 months old and only has 5k miles on the clock and it’s engine has had an issue from 4 months old. I’m afraid to use the car because I know there’s a problem with the engine- it drives like a tractor! I’m paying hundreds of pounds a month for the worst customer service. Ford Customer Service says take it up with the Ford garage, the garage says take it up with Ford credit and Ford credit says get an independent inspection! They also lie to each other about what they’ve said to us. It’s absurd and nothing I would have expected from an international company. I definitely won’t ever buy Ford again not because of a poor quality vehicle but due to the useless after sales service.
Ford Capri EV fault
leased a Ford Capri EV which was delivered on 24th Match. I reported a fault with some of the sensors on 22nd April. Car was taken into the garage for repair on 28th May (long lead time on replacement part). I haven't seen the vehicle since because they still cant pin point what is causing the fault. Service Manager at dealership has been great but Customer Relations have been poor.
totally let down by ford
i have had a kuga phev for 3 years and a few months. i was told of the 40 miles on electric power i didn't ever get 30 miles it had recalled very soon after purchase. battery charge problems the remedy took absolutely months, a remedy was found the recall done. shortly after this it has another recall, i have been waiting months for a fix to a charging fault. its been on recall almost 50% of my ownership. i contact ford they say we are working on the solution. i fell totally dumped.
please think very carefully before you consider a ford ev,
a question if they haven't a fix for my charging fault. are the newer models still being made with that issue if not why hasn't mine been repaired
Failing brand - no parts
Similar to many contributors, I've been a supporter of Ford for many years - decent quality, value, reliability and service. It's now a failing brand with zero accountability in its customer service function. They simply don't care and that makes the job of the dealership really hard. 2021 Mondeo with a recall for DPF but the telematics unit is broken and so cannot process the software update. Part on back order since February. Cannot sell the car without SOS function working and with outstanding recall. Hopeless and will never buy Ford again. Welcome the strong Korean & Chinese competition.
Paint bubbles fiesta ST 3 years old
Bought my 2 year old fiesta ST just over a year ago from a Ford dealer. had a years warranty on it. i am a massive Ford person and have mainly bought fords all my driving life. i also own a classic ford and have had a few classics and all been fords. they stopped making the fiesta in 2023 so i bought a 2023 model fiesta ST in Mean Green as its an ST only colour. Great i thought i can keep hold of this for a long time and maybe pass it down to my son when i no longer need it. it has gone back in under warranty twice already, headlight malfunction and radio packed up completely which were both sorted no problem. I have recently noticed bubbling on the rear spoiler, so i contacted the dealer i bought it from and they said it was out of the 3 year warranty and they could do nothing. I thought this was a bit harsh as it was only a month out of warranty and I'm sure paint should last longer than 3 years. So i contacted Ford UK and after sending them all my details and a lot of information, they have also said that i am not covered as the previous owner had not had the paint and body check done, now all the services had been done at a ford dealership, so why were the necessary checks not done. But basically I'm out of luck due to the previous owner doing what they assumed would be everything they needed by using a ford main dealer. Sorry to Rant people, i cant believe how I'm being treated after all these years of commitment to the FORD brand.
I taken my Ford ranger in to Ford and…
I taken my Ford ranger in to Ford and they told me I have the wrong injectors and need a new alternator pulley. So they did the injectors.
I then said it’s still not right so I taken it back and they said I need a new gear box so sent off for a rebuild at an auto specialist they found no fault. So taken back they said feul temperature sensor and test drove and said it’s normal. So drove away and broken down got it in to a garage Sam autos Accrington
2 minutes test drive and they found
lower arms and bushes
Both front uppers arms bushes
Both front lowers arms bushes
Axles bushes x 2
Prop shaft bush
Differential bushes
And Ford found no fault after having it 3 times
⚠️ AVOID
⚠️ AVOID — Ford's customer service is a disgrace. Buyer beware.
I leased a nearly-new Ford Transit Custom 280 Limited expecting the reliability Ford likes to advertise. Instead, I got rodent damage on a vehicle that was barely off the production line, a tailgate sensor fault that's never been properly fixed, and — worst of all — total silence from the people who are supposed to stand behind their product.
Ford's standard customer service channels did nothing. No urgency, no accountability, no real answers. I've had to go over their heads entirely — formal complaints to Ford executives, the supplying dealer, the finance company, and the Motor Ombudsman, plus a Section 75 claim, just to get anyone to take basic responsibility for problems they caused.
This isn't a one-off bad day for a call centre agent. This is what happens when a company knows it can stonewall customers and get away with it. If you're thinking about buying or leasing a Ford, especially on finance, understand that when something goes wrong — and it did, fast — you will be on your own fighting for months to get heard.
Don't say you weren't warned.
I genuinely regret buying a Ford.
Less than 24 hours after taking delivery of my brand-new Ford Mustang Mach-E, a warning light appeared on the dashboard. I immediately contacted Dunstable Ford, only to be offered an appointment almost three weeks later for a brand-new vehicle that was already showing faults.
A few days later, I also noticed that the battery range was decreasing after every charge. As the vehicle was brand new and fully under warranty, I contacted Ford Customer Service expecting support. To my surprise, Ford explained that they have no control over their dealerships because they are independently franchised. Essentially, I was left to deal with the dealership myself.
When I called Dunstable Ford to see if my appointment could be brought forward, I spoke to a member of staff whose attitude was shockingly poor. The conversation left me feeling as though I was asking for a personal favour rather than seeking support for a faulty vehicle that had been delivered less than a month earlier. I even pointed this out during the call. Having previously owned Audi and BMW vehicles, the difference in customer service was staggering.
Things got even worse on the day of my appointment. I explained to the service reception team that while the original booking was for the warning light, I had also reported the battery range issue to their team beforehand. The response was unbelievable: I was told they only had a slot booked to investigate one issue and could not look at the second problem, meaning I would need to make another appointment. So after taking time out of my day, arranging transport, and paying for an Uber home, Ford expected me to start the process all over again.
To make matters worse, Ford delayed the delivery of my vehicle twice. I was initially told the delays were caused by the delivery company, but later discovered the real reason was unresolved software issues with the vehicle. During these delays, I was advised to hire a car and was assured I would be reimbursed. Nearly a month later, I am still waiting for that reimbursement, despite multiple follow-ups.
The car itself may be impressive when it works, but the ownership experience has been one of the worst I have ever encountered. Poor communication, misleading information, lack of accountability between Ford and its dealerships, rude customer service, excessive waiting times, and broken promises regarding reimbursement have completely destroyed my confidence in the brand.
If this is the level of support Ford provides to customers who have just spent tens of thousands of pounds on a brand-new vehicle, I would strongly recommend considering alternative manufacturers. My experience with Ford has been extremely disappointing from day one.
Having used Ford for many years
Having used Ford for many years, I have got to say, I will NEVER use them again. Ford Credit - my PCP contract ended January 26, when I called to discuss collection of my vehicle they said there will be a 3 month wait as Manheim Auctions are behind schedule. They then went on to say that it is my responsibility to keep the vehicle insured and taxed. Why would it be the customers responsibility to keep your asset safe at my expense, due to a delay with your supplier. This is outrageous behaviour.
I refused to insure and tax the vehicle and dropped it off at my local dealer Peoples of Bootle, I videoed the vehicle and took photos of every panel before I left.
3 months later I started to receive letters from DVLA and the insurer bureau demanding I TAX and insure the vehicle. It took FC over 4 months to collect the vehicle. I then received a bill for damage, service not up to date and a full valet. I have provided evidence that the vehicle was immaculate, fully serviced up to the date I returned it. They are trying to charge me £80 for a valet because a bird had fouled on the bonnet, several hundred for damage and hundreds for the servicing not being up to date.
Honestly I would stay clear of ever using FC if you want good aftercare.
If you're thinking of buying a Ford, DON'T DO IT!!!!
Had many Ford cars over the years and have been a staunch defender of existing brands in the face of the influx of cheap Chinese rubbish flooding the UK car industry.
However my experience as a 2018 Ford Focus owner (and worse still, as a Ford customer) has led me to now cheer on these newcomers and hope that Ford well and truly get their lunch eaten for them!
It all started when in 2022, I purchased a 2018 Ford Focus ST-Line with 26000 miles on the clock.
I very quickly became underwhelmed by the overall build quality, but my review score is for the following:
2022- New X-Vision reversing sensors fitted by a Ford main dealer (for over £350). They packed up completely recently after a shade over 4 years and the Ford main dealer that fitted them (Birchwood Ford, Eastbourne) responded by informing me that I should book it in for them to 'investigate' at over £100ph! No goodwill there then!
About a year ago, the wheelnuts started to fall apart, (the chrome tops fell off of the nut underneath). This is a known Ford 'issue' I believe but Ford Customer Care (that's a contradiction in terms) stated that my car was too old to warrant them doing anything (despite the car only being 7 years old and having covered 42000miles). By contrast, the wheelnuts on my old car, a Saab, we're still going strong after 16 years!
The other issue, is when I updated the inbuilt Ford sat nav, after about an hour of installing, it crashed! Frequent messages between Ford Customer Care (yep, them again) and myself over about a 6 month period, ended without success. My main dealer would again assist (at over £100ph, obviously).
*Not forgetting, my car has the well-known Ecoboost (or EcoBOOM as mechanics call them) engine, so I have the 'wetbelt' issue to look forward to in the next couple of years, which costs circa £1500!!!!
Not bad for an 8 year old car that has now covered 44000 miles, according to Ford!!!
Their attitude and mine somewhat differs and whilst this will be the last Ford that I ever own, my advice to would be buyers would be DON'T BUY A FORD!!!!
