My experience with Home Legal Direct has been extremely disappointing.
I initially used them to arrange conveyancing for my house purchase, and they referred me to Inspire Legal. Unfortunately, Inspire Legal have now announced that they are closing down right at the end of my purchase, leaving me having to find another solicitor and deal with additional costs and delays.
On the day I was informed that Inspire Legal were closing, I contacted Home Legal Direct to find out what was happening. I was told that someone would contact me within 24 hours. That never happened. I was then left to sort the situation out myself and ultimately had to instruct another solicitor, which is now costing me around £400 more than the original quote.
This makes me question what the point was of using Home Legal Direct in the first place. I used them because I expected them to provide a suitable conveyancer and offer some reassurance if something went wrong. Instead, when the solicitor they referred me to ceased trading, I felt completely abandoned.
This isn't even my first bad experience with a conveyancer recommended through Home Legal Direct. I also had another property purchase fall through in 2025, and the legal service I was referred to on that occasion was extremely poor.
To be fair, the staff at Home Legal Direct themselves have always been pleasant and helpful when I've managed to speak to them. My issue is the quality of the conveyancers they refer customers to and, more importantly, what happens when things go wrong.
For me, the whole purpose of using a service like Home Legal Direct is to make the conveyancing process easier and give you confidence that you're being put in good hands. Unfortunately, my experience has been the complete opposite.
Based on my experience, I would think very carefully before using Home Legal Direct. The staff may be great, but if the conveyancers they refer you to aren't reliable, the saving and convenience simply aren't worth it.

TOTAL SCAM COMPANY. Extremely disappointing experience — I would strongly recommend doing your research before using this company.

I initially engaged with this company believing they would provide a genuine, cost-effective service to help with my legal matter. Instead, I was charged £450 purely as an introductory fee for referring me to solicitors. This £450 did not contribute towards the actual conveyancing fees.

What I found particularly frustrating is that, after paying this substantial introductory fee, I was then expected to pay additional money for the actual conveyancing work. In other words, I paid £450 simply to be introduced to a solicitor, and then had to pay again for the legal work itself.

Unfortunately, I was also extremely disappointed with the service and the quality of the solicitors I was referred to. The level of service I received did not, in my experience, justify the costs involved.

I now feel that I have been left in a difficult position after already paying a significant amount of money, while still having to pay further fees to actually get the work completed.

My advice to anyone considering using this company: be extremely careful. Make sure you get a full written breakdown of every fee upfront, including exactly what the introductory fee covers, whether it contributes towards your legal fees, and what additional charges you may be expected to pay.

Based on my experience, I would not use this company again and would strongly advise others to consider their options carefully before handing over any money.

THIS IS A SCAM COMPANY My experience with this company has been extremely disappointing and, in my view, very poor value for money.

I initially engaged with them believing I was paying for a professional service that would help progress my legal matter. Instead, I paid a substantial commission simply to be introduced to solicitors, and I was then left dealing with solicitors whose service fell well below the standard I expected.

What is particularly concerning is that, after paying the initial fees, I was subsequently told that additional charges would apply for work that I understood to be included in the original quotation. This has resulted in costs being significantly higher than I was originally led to expect.

The most frustrating part is that I now feel stuck with the situation after having already paid a considerable amount of money.

In my experience, the costs, what is actually included in the quotation, and who is ultimately responsible for progressing the case were not made sufficiently clear from the outset.

I deeply regret using this company.

If you are considering engaging with them, I strongly recommend that you do your own research, obtain a detailed written breakdown of every fee, clarify exactly what work is included, and find out who will actually be handling your case before paying anything.

Based on my own experience, I would not use this company again and would urge others to think very carefully before committing their money.

Brilliant service, first used them 4 years ago and again continued to be very responsive, professional, helpful and best price. Georgina in particular has provided exceptional service standards and care.

It was plain and simple

This is my 2nd experience using HLD. Their service is great and cheaper than going to a Solicitor directly. Definitely recommend.

They have so far been very helpful with any queries I have had and answered my emails very quickly.
