Smooth sailing until repeated proof of address. They respond once from 11am-3pm every day. Asked me “reply YES if this is your adress” after sending it. So they could wait until next week to process my application.

It was very disappointing getting a background check done by this company because it delayed 2 job applications that I was hoping to get employment from. The company made a error in reporting the correct information on me to my employer.. I was so devastated and disappointed that I had so much complications with this company.

I have undergone numerous employment background checks throughout my career in the UK, and First Advantage has been by far the most frustrating and poorly managed.

The screening process has been unnecessarily repetitive, fragmented and slow. Information and supporting documents were provided upfront, yet I repeatedly received requests for the same details again, including documents that First Advantage later confirmed were already visible in the portal. This creates avoidable delays and gives the impression that information is not being properly reviewed before further requests are issued.

Communication has also been poor, particularly where third-party verification steps were introduced without clear prior explanation. For a UK background screening process, I would expect a more professional, transparent and efficient candidate experience.

The overall process has felt cumbersome, uncoordinated and lacking in basic operational discipline. Based on my experience, I would strongly question using this provider again for UK screening and would much prefer a reputable UK based screening company with clearer processes and better accountability. I would recommend Credence.

This is the most incompetent company I have ever had to deal with. After calling twice a week for one month I have gotten a different answer from every single person. They have no clue what is going on. It is such a shame that my future job is dependent on this so-called company. I finally decided I didn't want to work for a company that would hire this company. After over a month they still haven't gotten my background. Waste of my time.

Not very useful at all

They sell companies on this fast response and turnaround time, but in reality, it's a bunch of overseas workers that simply copy and paste messages to you when you ask questions. I'm a contractor and have these done often and this company takes anywhere from 4-8 weeks for a criminal check, citizenship, credit history, and to make sure you do not appear on any of the registeries. They start off with a one week turnaround, then they push it to two, then it keeps getting pushed from there.

They are truly worthless.

It has been nearly two months and I am STILL waiting on my background screen. Here's the kicker...they have already screened me before....within the SAME MONTH. The one star is for the poor souls on their chat support team that have to deal with angry people that need jobs being held up over something simple.

I've done 4 back ground check in past year this one comes back with a person who live in Maine which I have never been close to the state with 7 charges on him now my job is in jeopardy ok now I found out more about it so the person they added to my back ground just had same first and last name as me and birth day which mind you took me all of 5min to call the court house in that state and city and found out it wasn't me but yet now it cost me a job and a place to live because it could take up to 30 days to do what it took me in 5min.

Fast response and quick solutions my work is finished with these guys smoothly and fastly thank you for your assistance

I applied to pepsico over a month ago went to do test and it was lost somehow but someone has the results bc they asked questions ab it that they would only know thru testing I have requested an update from the screening company a week or so later for another update on why this has taken over a month to do and they said they would get back to me but never did. So i got sent another email to do another drug test but it didn't say I needed to retake it so that made me miss the Aug 5th deadline for 2nd drug test. I didn't get the job bc of there mess up. Dont trust this company for nothing.

Not user firendly at all. The website is slow, doesn't let me login half the time. Doesn't load signatures or nex buttons when i actually did it. Tried on phone and laptop, neither worked. Worst experience ever

I am so terrified of this. It’s everywhere. Any wrong answer given carries forever. Absolutely against my will. I haven’t brushed NO option to give consent as it is forced upon me. You cannot get a job otherwise, AI is everywhere.
Not only does it steal every sense of my safety but it is also incredibly slow at doing it.

A rating of 1 is too high, but the lowest option available. I've now been waiting for a background check to be completed for my potential future employer for 2 weeks. The ETA has been 8/21 since day 1. On 8/13, they told me they were still waiting on response from the local county clerk of courts, and would expedite the request. The clerk of courts told me they respond to all requests in under 3 days, with 90% being completed in 1 day or less. On 8/21, I again contacted First Advantage and they told me they would expedite to be completed by 8/28. What a joke. First Advantage holds the keys and candidate and employer have no control and hands are just tied.
