I use Zamzar to help assemble and package legal documents. Our little company drafts, issues and serves subpoenas for all kinds of records for use in litigation and assembles the responsive documents in a trial-ready package (usually a PDF). We receive many different file types in the responses (Word docs, Excel sheets, email MSG files), and they all need to be combined into an organized package that can be easily navigated. Adobe plug-ins to convert files to PDFs are notoriously "buggy" and used to crash Word and File Explorer frequently, and Microsoft Print to PDF took forever. With Zamzar, I can select multiple files at once and with one right-click, convert them all to PDFs in seconds, and they're instantly dropped right into the same folder I'm working in with the same file name. It promises a free conversion then forces you to create an account to fownlaod the file, then it forces you to buy a subscription. Complete waste of time.

After I signed up for the API access, the file type I needed wasn't available, but the team immediately asked for sample files so they could engineer a solution and see if they could add the new file type to their list of available file conversions. Within a couple days they converted my file to PDF. They truly went above and beyond for a new customer.

I manage an all-volunteer nonprofit for endangered species conservation. Photos are a critical component of our state-required documentation. We have 5 teams out in the field every day of the week, plus two supervisor crews, so I receive dozens of photos every single day. Many of them are sent to me in HEIC format but the database I'm required to use will only accept JPGs. Zamzar has been a huge time-saver for me when I'd otherwise have to save each photo individually in the appropriate format.

After years of using the paid service, I received a final notification that my account was being deactivated for nonpayment. I had not gotten prior notices so I paid for a new account. I responded to the deactivation notice not expecting it to be seen by a human. Not only did they read it, they replied that a system glitch had prevented the previous notices from being sent. They even adjusted the cost back to the old amount I was paying.

Misleading and a complete waste of time. The site makes it appear that converting an MP4 to MP3 is free, so I waited a long time for the conversion to finish. Only afterwards was I asked to pay to access the converted file. That should be made clear before the conversion starts. It felt like a bait-and-switch. Stay away.

When I had a personal problem and needed to temporarily suspend my account, they were very helpful in changing the status of my account for the time being, so that I would not be charged for the period while I am not using my account. Their email responses were quick and very friendly.

Okay, so... honestly? Zamzar is a total lifesaver. I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve been, like, right in the middle of a massive project—running a content marketing agency is basically just one long game of "guess which file format the client sent"—and then... boom. A file just won't open. Or it’s some weird, obscure extension that nothing else recognizes. Ugh, it’s the worst.
But yeah... I started using this site and, man, it’s just... it’s so easy. Like, aaa... you don't even have to think about it. You just drag the file in, and it’s done. No annoying pop-ups, no "sign up for a million things first." Just... utility.
