⭐☆☆☆☆ — Not a real auction — just tricks and hidden costs

Vavato is a misleading platform that pretends to be an auction site. They use undisclosed minimum prices, so even if you're the highest bidder, you don't win unless you hit some secret target. That's not how auctions should work.

Descriptions are vague, items often arrive damaged or incomplete, and returns are impossible. On top of that, they add ridiculous hidden fees (auction costs, admin fees, VAT, overpriced shipping) after you've already bid.

The bidding system feels manipulated, and customer service is practically non-existent. You get no help, no support — just excuses.

Avoid this site at all costs. It's not a deal, it's a trap.

My experience was always good, the communication, bidding process, article description,…all straightforward and everything delivered in due time or picked where it was.

As a non EU citizen, I was surprised from the expediency in VAT return and the customer support. Great experience.

Purchased a lot (Sofa Set) in December 2023. On collection day, to our surprise, the lot was already professionally packaged, securely sealed and ready to be loaded. We requested the seller that we wanted to have a look to which he objected, unequivocally assuring us that the package was exactly as advertised and being new, everything was perfect. We arrived home in the Netherlands from Belgium to a huge disappointment as we found out that the one seater included was completely wrong and didn’t belong. We also found that 4 of the pillows were missing. We contacted Vavato and requested that they rectify the purchase and arrange for a seater to be delivered and after a while, they put us in contact with the seller. Even thought Vavato and the seller had made this blunder, they refused to deliver the correct seater the seller claimed to have had in stock, instead we had to hire a vehicle, spend on fuel, take unpaid leave from work and drive back to Belgium to deliver the wrong seater and collect the right seater. When we got there, the seller just told us, that he didn’t have the seater he earlier promised to have in stock. It was never there and seems they advertised a product that was not in stock which we found deceptive and quite frankly disingenuous for an Auction Company to do. The seller assured us he would order and deliver it within 6 weeks, that was in February, 2024. To cut the horrendous customer abuse account short, that we feel to have experienced at the hands of Vavato, to date, there has been no seater delivered, no refund and only tossing us back and forth between themselves and the seller. A complete violation of EU consumer protection right which allows for rectifying a purchase within reasonable time or issuing a refund. After nearly a year, we requested a refund and we were assured if the seller doesn’t deliver by end of December, 2024, we will have a refund. Alas, it has been crickets. Hugely disappointed and will ensure the Directors are legally held responsible and exposed for this dishonest, unacceptable, business practices and ensure that no clients ever goes through this.

An unauthorised transaction of $100 has been charged on my card after making a purchase approximately 4 weeks ago. Still yet to see the purchase from the first transaction arrive
