i decided to send a review in here because frankly this company cannot deal with problems unless you raise them whilst trying to enjoy your break ! this means reading T&Cs or if you’re lucky a house manual (ours was hidden). Ty Newydd as the BEST location but frankly if you can’t sleep because the beds are so bad the location becomes meaningless. add to this DIRTY furniture, broken and dangerous dishwasher and blocked filthy washing machine that required us removing a kickboard undoing the filter, which flooded the kitchen,cleaning it up and cleaning filter. the bin area was strewn with filth even though there were 4 bins, attracting rats. i’m not sure the owners would be happy to know that their property is in this state? on complaint you get told you should raise it whilst on holiday and an agent will come back to you - NADA nothing. they’ve had your money and don’t care about your experience. frankly i’m thinking about seeking advice about not receiving what we paid for! very sad as the location is great.

The property was lovely. My experience with Sykes was terrible. The instructions said to confirm the trundle bed was needed at the time of booking. There was no way of doing this when booking online or in the customer portal. I called (no answer) and sent WhatsApp and text messages to confirm but did not hear back until on my way to the property. The agent did not confirm the bed would be ready only that the message would be passed on. At the property I tried to report a faulty fridge but again no answer to calls or WhatsApp and eventually an email was replied to on day 3 of our 5 day break. It was not fixed by the time we left.
My impression is that customer service is being managed by AI and it is not possible to speak to a human even when there are urgent issues.

Can't fault them - we have used them now for a few years and have yet to have any problems with them.

Website easy to use, reminders sent before payment due, information about key collection etc sent in good time

Easy to book. Lots of information shared at appropriate times. Good selection of accommodation.

All went very well, but some of the sundry provided was somewhat stained

The cottage was not as expected the cleaner hadnt been in we eventually got hold of them after speaking to sykes cottages the cleaner eventually went in the property was very out dated it was still not up to cottages we have stayed in with yourselves paint peeling of walls the main matress was stained are just a few of the things would not reccomend this cottage

It was very easy, to book

Comfortable, well equipped cottage. Ideal location for exploring around area around city of Durham, Beamish etc.

Stayed here with our 3 dogs, ideally located and all amenities sited near by. Property was well maintained, clean and tidy. Parking for two cars and in a quiet location. We have booked again for next year, hopefully the weather will be a little bit better, the only thing you can't plan.

Lovely quiet location with sea views. Great cafe opposite. Town within walking distance. The beach opposite is dog friendly.

Easy to use App. Information heavy which is a good thing. Would recommend as I have now removed Airbnb and Booking.com from my phone for ethical reasons!
Will be using Sykes again.

Excellent company as always! Simple booking process and lovely accommodation!

Unable to book on line, Sykes web site kept getting stuck at the payment stage, absolute garbage!
Had to ring my booking and speak to one of your Help team....described as an "expert"!!
Note....he certainly wasn't an expert, distinctly average!!
Eventually I was able to make my booking but a slow and labourious process!

It was just so easy to make the booking for next year, very straight forward.

Had to change booking at Sykes request.No problem was dealt with efficiently.Looking forward to new booking.Thank you
