I really like the layout of Chronos. Unlike Grailzee, Chronos 24 is not pushy and continuously spamming me. I had a question about about tariffs on one of the watches I purchased froma dealer in Singapore and the customer service was prompt, accurate and very informative.

The watch was exactly as described. The delivery was timely and predictable. The only thing that people need to be aware of is that there are tariffs on imports

Chrono24 Buyer Protection failed me — unreasonable deadlines, inconsistent instructions, and payment released despite an unresolved dispute (TR-14335603)

In short: I purchased a vintage Omega Genève advertised as being in good, serviced condition. The watch arrived completely non-functional. Despite reporting the issue immediately and the seller agreeing to accept a return, Chrono24 subjected me to changing requirements, confusing communication, and an extremely short final shipping deadline. Ultimately, they closed the mediation and released my €505 to the seller while the dispute remained unresolved.

Full experience:

On October 21, 2026, I received an Omega Genève 135.041 purchased for €505 through Chrono24's escrow system from a private seller in the Netherlands.

The watch was advertised as being in "Good condition and serviced." However, upon arrival, it was not working. I reported the issue immediately, providing evidence and contacting the seller.

The seller agreed to accept a return, so I expected a relatively straightforward resolution. Unfortunately, this was where the problems with Chrono24's Buyer Protection began.

1. Constantly changing requirements

Initially, Chrono24 demanded a professional assessment from a certified watchmaker, giving me an extremely limited amount of time to arrange one.

After further communication, they eventually agreed that I could return the watch without an assessment, provided I covered the international return shipping costs myself.

Despite receiving a defective product, I accepted this condition simply to resolve the dispute.

2. Confusing and inconsistent communication

Throughout the process, Chrono24 communicated through multiple separate email threads with different ticket numbers, making it unnecessarily difficult to follow the dispute.

On October 29, their support representative explicitly instructed me to coordinate the return deadline directly with the seller.

Following those instructions, I contacted the seller on November 2, confirmed my willingness to cover the shipping costs, and requested an extension until November 6.

The seller never responded.

3. An unreasonable deadline followed by immediate payment release

On November 3, at approximately 3:16 PM, Chrono24 informed me that I had to provide a tracking number by November 4.

This left me approximately 33 hours, at most, to arrange an insured international shipment, despite having previously been told to coordinate the deadline directly with the seller.

As a university student working alongside my studies, I was dealing with significant academic and professional commitments. I unfortunately did not see this latest email in time.

I had already planned to ship the watch on November 6, just two days after their newly imposed deadline.

Instead, on November 5, Chrono24 informed me that the mediation had been closed and that the payment had been released to the seller.

4. What exactly is the Buyer Protection supposed to protect?

I reported the defective watch immediately. The seller agreed to a return. I cooperated with the process, accepted paying the return shipping costs, and actively attempted to arrange the shipment.

Yet Chrono24 released my payment over a missed deadline that had been communicated barely a day in advance, without resolving the underlying issue.

I understand that deadlines are necessary, and I acknowledge that I missed the final one. However, I find the consequences completely disproportionate, particularly given the inconsistent instructions and the seller's failure to respond to my request.

The entire experience has felt less like buyer protection and more like an administrative obstacle course, where the buyer bears virtually all the responsibility, costs, and risks.

Current status:

I have formally appealed the decision and provided evidence of my communication with the seller. I am currently awaiting Chrono24's response.

At this point, I have paid €505 for a non-working watch, and the escrow protection I relied upon has been removed.

My conclusion:

I did not expect Chrono24 to guarantee that every vintage watch would arrive in perfect condition. I expected them to provide a fair, consistent, and reasonable dispute resolution process when something went wrong.

Unfortunately, that has not been my experience.

I will update this review if Chrono24 reconsiders its decision, but based on how this dispute has been handled so far, I cannot recommend relying on their Buyer Protection when purchasing expensive watches from private sellers.

Buyer beware: having escrow protection is not the same as being meaningfully protected when a transaction goes wrong.

Seller was extremely helpful and product was as advertised.

Quick responses to questions and high quality product made this expensive purchase seamless.

I have been waiting 18 days for payment for a watch using your escrow. I keep being thanked for my patience in regards to this matter. My patience is done. Have you stolen my money due! The 7 days since the purchaser received the watch has clearly passed and sufficient time for bank clearance. Where is my money!
