We bought approximately 3 lots of Pawable for our 12 year old mixed terrier as we thought it may help in conjunction with his YuMove max tablets we already give him, increasing his energy, along with helping his joints. We put it on his breakfast and he was fine with it for a while, then suddenly stopped eating his food with this on and we hadn’t noticed any difference to his energy and mobility, therefore we stopped using it and he started eating his breakfast again with no problem.
Feel it helps to try these things sometimes but also listen to your dogs behaviour . Maybe it doesn’t suit every dog.

My Shepherd aged 10 was slowing up on his back legs, wanting the best to help him I came across Pawable being advised and being very sceptical about these products I decided to order some. Very reliable delivery the collagen has done wonders for my Newfoundland he was diagnosed with arthritis in his back to legs which were clicking on occasions the clicking has nearly stopped with hydrotherapy sessions and collagen he is lot more active and happy thanks

My 13 year old dog had been itching for 4 years, I had tried every exclusion diet and special diet with no luck. I was considering Apoquel as a last resort to ease the itching but then I read about Pawable and decided to give it a go. Within two weeks the itching had eased and after 6 weeks it had completely stopped. We are now on our third pouch and her coat is now shiny and black and not brittle, there is no dry skin and she is so much happier. I am so glad that I tried it.

I have a small border terrier who was having trouble jumping onto the sofa and was not playing with us with her toys. Since using the pawable collergen she has turned into to a lively little girl and is running around like a young dog although she will be 12 in December. I have also discovered her sleeping on the bed, which is high, my husband thought I had lifted her onto the bed and I thought he had helped her. She hasn’t been able to jump up on the bed first about 1 year. I would highly recommend this product.

We have bought colagen for one of our dogs as he was itching a lot. Approx 3 months in and the itchiness has greatly improved. Worked wonders for us. Also I've been dealing with the company directly and are very quick to answer emails and a pleasure to deal with. Much appreciated the personal touch.

After our dog had an accident and injured his leg he had a long recovery and after his medicines were finished he was still very slow and seemed to have lost his sparkle
I discovered Pawable Collar-Gen and ordered some and added that to his food daily. (He had been on 2 well known supplements but we have stopped these)There is a definite improvement in his mobility and even his sparkle is back

In January my dog Toby injured his back leg and couldn’t walk. I had to buy a buggy to walk him. 8 months later and a daily dose of Pawable, Toby is enjoying walking again, albeit short walks, but I’m amazed at his miraculous progress and recovery, thanks Pawable!

Fantastic product with speedy delivery and excellent customer service! My dog has been on the Collar-Gen supplement for a little over a month and after a couple of weeks I found a huge difference in her gait, her coat condition and general pep in her step! The powder is easy to sprinkle on her food and she still wolfs it down, much easier than trying to get tablets in her. One happy dog and one very happy owner!

I have been using Collar-Gen and GlucoMax for my two dogs (aged 11 and 9) for the last seven months. I have seen a dramatic improvement in my 11 year old dog who has arthritis in his back legs. He was quite immobile at the time but now he's back to his old self - it took two months for the Collar-Gen to have a complete effect. He's a new dog! I recommend this product to everyone. My lean, active toy breed dog has been on Pawable’s Collar-gen supplement for 9 months. Two weeks ago, a specialist veterinary evaluation unmasked an un-diagnosed joint condition and compensatory injuries. Seeing her baseline collapse prompted me to conduct an audit of her supplement ingredients, and I was absolutely shocked by what I discovered.

According to the product Data Sheet, Collar-gen contains 400mg of trademarked UC-II collagen/100g. The feeding guide recommends 2.5g of Collar-gen for dogs weighing less than 10kg. This provides 10mg of UC-II.

However, peer-reviewed veterinary trials and industry standards establish that the clinically effective dose of trademarked UC-II required to trigger oral tolerance and deactivate the immune system’s drive to degrade joint cartilage is set at a minimum threshold of 40 mg, regardless of how much the dog weighs (see Gupta et al's study on PubMed). Following Pawable's guidelines, small and toy breeds receive 1/4 of the therapeutic dose.

The Devastating Realisation

Like any dedicated guardian. I poured my heart into supplement research because I wanted nothing less than the best for my dog. 💔 Discovering I was under-dosing her by 75% for months left me feeling deeply misled and letdown by this brand’s marketing. 😔 I feel a profound sense of guilt for trusting their guidelines, while her joint health deteriorated. 😢

I initially believed I saw a positive effect when using this product on my older arthritic dog. However, with hindsight, the improvements I saw were being driven by targeted physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, advanced regenerative medicine treatments and the structural impact of other nutraceuticals, rather than by Collar-gen.

Why Collar-gen is Redundant for Dogs on High Protein Diets

For dogs fed a standard commercial kibble or a basic cooked diet, the denatured collagen matrix in this supplement may provide some nutritional benefit. For pets like mine who are fed a balanced raw diet, dusting their meals with powdered collagen is an entirely redundant strategy. Dogs on a biologically appropriate diet already receive an abundant amount of natural collagen via the raw meaty bones and carcasses in their base diet.

Why Weight-Based Dosing of UC-II Failed my Dog

Colar-gen is essentially a bulk protein supplement. The only ingredient in it that targets joint inflammation is UC-II but Pawable’s mass market approach to dosing it is inappropriate for dogs navigating known or hidden orthopaedic challenges. By trusting a weight-calibrated label, I unknowingly left my dog's high stress joint environment starved of the anti-inflammatory support needed to protect her cartilage matrix.

My Evidence-Based Recommendation

Based on my experience and the research I have undertaken, I recommend that all pet guardians who have dogs with diagnosed orthopaedic conditions and those with breeds at high risk for joint disease switch to a high-quality human UC-II supplement to ensure they get the target dose of UC-II collagen.

A Call to Pawable’s Product Development Team 📣

My goal in writing this review is to urge Pawable to improve their practices. As a subscription customer, I was continually encouraged by the company to purchase their Glucosamine and Chondroitan containing supplement for “added benefit”. However, peer-reviewed research supports a clinically effective dose of UC-II as the superior long-term strategy. Pairing hydrolysed protein and a sub-optimal dose of UC-II with Glucosamine and Chondroitan makes little clinical sense and isn't cost effective for pet guardians.

To effectively meet the needs of pets with orthopaedic conditions, Pawable need to revise their product formulation to ensure all pets get a clinically effective dose of UC-II. Currently, most dogs on Collar-gen are being short-changed.

Response to Pawable: I have shared this honest review to advocate for better labelling transparency and to help other pet guardians make informed decisions for their pets' joint health. Bulk collagen supplements don’t address joint inflammation and did not benefit my dog. People with dogs on high quality, protein rich diets should consider whether a protein supplement is likely to benefit their dogs. Crucially, the Milligram dosage of UC-II per serving is not disclosed on your product packaging, meaning everyday consumers cannot easily deduce their dogs are receiving a sub-clinical dose for anti-inflammatory support. You suggest I should simply increase the amount of powder I give: quadrupling the dose of bulk protein to meet the target dose of UC-II introduces a risk of gastric upset. This is also medically inappropriate for pets with liver and kidney disease.

I have seen a big improvement in my dogs mobility. His problems were numerous but I am happy that Pawable has added enjoyment to his life.

We’ve been using the collargen since our breeder recommended it to us. That was a year ago and our Irish Wolfhound is bounding round like a puppy and she’s just had her 8th birthday (which means she’s an old lady). Subscriptions service works well for us and deliveries have always been on time and with no issues. Would recommend.

7 weeks ago my border collie who has now just had her 14th birthday started to loose mobility in her hind leg! Her leg kept giving way whilst walking on hard surfaces like pavements etc. i really thought this was the beginning of the end! A visit to the vets told me she has muscle wastage, a big bill followed and metacam which just helps with the pain!
Then i came across pawable, although sceptical i ordered some. Meg has been on it for 5 weeks now and i am absolutely amazed right now with the improvement i have seen on week 5. No more scraping her paw as she walks, no more leg collapse, stiffness is improving each day! I have just subscribed to regular supplies, so thank you Neil for giving me my meg back!!!

I’ve waited a good few months to write an honest review for Pawable as we are told it takes a while to see the true benefits. My 11 year old Labrador has had a happy working life but now feeling the effects of an enthusiastic lifestyle. She has been on another very good supplement since she was five but seems to have lost its efficacy.
Since starting Pawable, she is no longer reluctant to go out in the evening, she has gone back to her very playful self and is definitely more restful and able to get comfortable.
I’m so happy to see the difference it has made and now started my lazy eight year old Labrador on it too. Again in the month that lazy Lab has been on it she too has more of a spring in her step.
I am already recommending Pawable to my customers in my doggie daycare business.

A reliable company, deliveries on time great product

I started my 13 year old westie on pawable 3 days ago. She has had really bad diarrhoea. Up all night with her. I'm going to stop it now.

Excellent customer service at all times. Charlie has improved slightly with his collargen but maybe not as quickly a I’d have liked. However I’ll continue with it in the hope that the improvement continues.
