Scammiest Money Lender in Canada

If I could give this company -5 stars, I'd do so in a heartbeat. This is by far, the worst and most corrupt financial company to deal with in Canada and it's notorious reputation mos def precedes itself. They took 3 weeks to mail out my Visa card because they simply forgot and when they did (after I followed up), it was mailed out using Canada Post right after when their strike occured last year. I also requested a new PIN for my card nearly 2 weeks ago and they too forgot to mail out until I called 4 days later to follow up. Their agents are trained to refuse escalating complaints, routinely hand out incorrect advice and information and they never call back their customers, despite all their (empty) promises. It's so sad and heartbreaking to see organisations like this one openly giving the middle finger to its paying customers😢By keeping their customers demoralised, broken and defeated, they always remain in full control of them without ever needing to *assist*...Canadian corporate treachery and torture at it's finest

No help at all.AVOID!!

Well, I had an account with them. A secured account 4.7 plus years.. Never missed my payments. Card completely paid off even an overpayment. On my balance, would they give me an unsecured card? Absolutely not. No, you're gonna wonder why not? One reason I can think of credit rating is strong. In the 7 20s never missed my payments. As I said, I've got 2 other cards, they were absolutely useless. No, help to me whatsoever, tried talking to them. No luck there just a horrible horrible company to deal with. So I pulled my money, and I will take my business elsewhere. I do not recommend this company at all. If you're gonna do anything, go with Mastercard. Capital, one, they've given me two cards increased my limits every six months. No security, easy to deal with great people. I give home trust visa a zero at a five.

Beware! Their name is false advertising. Home(DO NOT)Trust - Very Bad service and worse experiences

As of right now it appears they have stolen my money. I registered for a Secured Home Trust Visa and paid them $500. After a month I received an activation pin but no card. I called and let them know. They cancelled the first card and "Sent" a second. after several weeks later I called back and they said they hadnt sent the second yet. I cancelled the card and told them I would no longer use their service. They mentioned it would take a month to receive my money back and the account was closed. I continued to receive recurring available balance mail. I called back a month later and the person I spoke with said the account was not cancelled and rinse repeated the process. Now I am back to waiting on a refund. DO NOT USE OR TRUST THIS SERVICE. THEY NEED TO CHANGE THEIR NAME.

Frequent fraudulent charges

My Home Trust Visa account has had several fraudulent charges made to it, usually posted in far-away places. Home Trust usually catches these charges before posting to my account, but not always. They charged me for the last one, posted in Hong Kong on a new card that had not been activated yet and that I had not received yet. Seems like the height of incompetence to me.

no transaction notifications received

I have been using their visa for a few years not with no issues. But recently noticed I was no longer receiving email notification when transactions occur. I have now contacted them 3 times with no success in solving this issue. If they cannot resolve this I unfortunately will have to cancel card.

New Home Trust card holder

Decided to get a Home Trust visa card to use for travel as they have zero annual fee and zero foreign exchange fees. So far I'm extremely satisfied with this company as I have received my new card and used it a few times locally. Everything was very easy to set up and I was given a $7000 credit limit which will suit my needs. The website is easy to use for checking my transactions and balances and I registered for e statements online as well. I am travelling in September 2026 so I just called them to advise of my travel plans departure and return dates and countries I'm travelling to so that assists them with fraud and hopefully no declined credit card charges for hotels and taxis. I had zero wait to speak with an agent to provide the information which I was pleasantly surprised. I will do another review once I return from my vacation to indicate if any issues with this credit card when travelling in Europe. Given the numerous poor ratings I've been skeptical but so far pleasantly surprised and I've recommended this card for travel to people I know.

Home Trust Visa are Bandits holding my deposit random for 45 days

I have a Home Trust Visa with a $500 credit limit. The credit was established by depositing $500. I have paid the card off in full. There is actually a $1.24 credit on top of the $500. They are telling me it will take 30 to 45 days to receive my $500 deposit. I told them that was unacceptable, and I spoke to a supervisor who sounded like a robot reading from a script, telling me the policy and the terms and conditions. What Home Trust Visa is doing is holding my $500 ransom and making interest on it. I advised them if this was not resolved by Friday of this week, I would be attending their head office on King Street in Toronto. When the call was escalated, they offered my $500 back quickly if I paid them $39. Do you think that is fair—that they are holding my money ransom and want another $40 to release it? This is a horrible company. I do not recommend it to anybody. If you have a poor credit score, ignore this company and find somebody else. Use Trustpilot—they have a 1.4 score. I am scoring them one for the horrific level of customer service I received.

Trash Customer Service: All Script, No Solutions

Terrible customer service.

The call centre is full of agents reading from scripts with little ability to actually solve problems. I've been given incorrect information multiple times and wasted countless hours on the phone fixing mistakes that should never have happened.

I received fraud alerts for transactions that had already been investigated, had my Visa reissued unnecessarily, which locked me out of my account for weeks, and was even issued duplicate refunds with no explanation whatsoever.

Every interaction ends with scripted apologies but no real answers. Getting a supervisor is a battle, and accountability is nonexistent.

I cancelled my card just to avoid dealing with them. Do yourself a favour and bank elsewhere. Just a headache.

Doesn’t Work in Europe

I had successfully used Home Trust Visa on a prior trip to Amsterdam. However, on our recent trip to Italy the card was declined everywhere. What a frustration trying to deal with a non-functioning credit card while on a European vacation! After emailing them, they required that I go through a convoluted collect call process in order to resolve the problem. Not worth the hassle while on vacation, so I used my foreign transaction fee credit card instead.

Never again will I use Home Trust Visa because they cannot, in fact, be trusted.

They have extremely poor communication

They have extremely poor communication, have no app to access account and unless you are willing to use an usecure browser like Chrome or Safari you won't be able to access your account online. Oh, and if you got this card for travel, beware that even if you notify them in advance of your travel you may find that they've blocked your card without letting you know. So make sure you have at least one additional card when you travel.

HomeTrust Mortgage- Disappointing Mortgage Lender

Stay away from HomeTrust Mortgage. Their customer service is unprofessional and poorly trained. Getting answers is extremely frustrating, and no one seems to know what they’re doing. Their website is also outdated, confusing, and not user-friendly. Overall, a very stressful experience. I would not recommend them.

Was forced to use a "B" lender as…

Was forced to use a "B" lender as traditional banks require you be retired more than 2 years to qualify your income. This company is nothing but pond scum. Avoid using this service at all costs. Was locked into a very high rate for 2 years and the penalty to get out was having to pay the full two years of interest charges. The renewal offer they sent was criminal after two years....would require a full renewal with a $2000 charge of requirements. Qualified for an "A" lender and they still found ways to gouge some more on the way out. This company should be investigated !!!!

Taking to them is like barking to a tree

Phoned customer service twice and confirmed notes are put in my account for traveling to the orient. Yet transaction was declined. Called using my vacation time and they made me wait for 30 min. They sent payment authorization email to address which I told them to delete years ago. It's unbelievably inefficient and frustrating to deal with. I will stop using the card first chance I have and use WealthSimple instead. Even more frustrating that they tell me to call them tomorrow to find out if the block on my card is removed. I said What! Why you frustrate your customer by giving them more work? I said send your confirmation by my valid email address. That CS said it's not up to him. I will put in the note. I am furious. Enough said.

i mislaid my Home Trust visa card 3 days before overseas travel. Called on sunday and card cancelled . Had to call again monday to order new card . monday they said call lost card dept. i did they said call customer service again. Finally found an agent to arrange new card. it takes 2-3 days to rush a card . no good as i’d be away. Ah they said we arrange an emergency card vis Visa International to be sent to my hotel abroad. Several calls and e mails later Visa intl say ill receive my emergency card on the monday ( i flew out weds and landed thursday ). monday no card. Tuesday Visa Intl say courier issues and card would arrive by Weds 5pm
i left hotel 12 noon that weds and was flying out so i said cancel this ‘ emergency card ‘.

i arrive home find replacement card in mail. i activate it but told its on hold for 24 hrs because of emergency card. finally try to use it - declined twice. phoned home trust where agent said i was not sent a new card just a virtual card despite my telling her i can send her a photo of it. i’m told to phone back later

Utter incompetent banks. so for 18 days no access to my card account . luckily i had a mastercard !
