Mr Ballagan s expertise is second to none . Had double viterectomy for floaters several months apart . Both went fantastically. No pain , just slight discomfort . For the first time in six years I can see clearly without massive distractions. He really has changed my life and I can't thank him enough .He is kind and talks through the procedure and puts any worries to rest. His anesthesiatist is a credit to him also He ensured the procedure s were painless. Lastly, must mention the wonderful Debbie Mr B s secretary . Mr Balaggan was recommended to me after a visit to an optician who confirmed I had cataracts in both eyes. Unaccustomed to hospital visits I was extremely nervous and apprehensive. At the initial consultation I was immediately made to feel at ease ; comfortable and safe in the hands of this gentleman who was not only highly qualified but also a true, caring Professional who was obviously passionate about his work. I felt comfortable to ask questions, all of which were answered in depth. At the end of my consultation there was an issue with my blood pressure. Kam went beyond the call of duty to address the situation.
Both operations went as planned and throughout the procedures I was informed of what was happening.
Yesterday I was discharged and again my final consultation was pleasant, thorough and informative.
I cannot thank this gentleman enough for restoring my sight and I left knowing that should any problems occur he is just a phone call away.

I was an anxious patient who required cataract surgery in both eyes. Following a thorough eye examination Mr Balaggan discussed all my options and which lenses would best suit my needs for the future. Having been highly short-sighted throughout my life I approached eye surgery with trepidation. The entire process, from assessment, through to surgery and aftercare, was conducted with professionalism, care and attention to detail. I experienced amazing results from cataract surgery performed on both eyes by Mr Balagan. I have worn glasses since age five and now only need them for close reading. The whole experience from start to finish was conducted by him and the staff in a highly caring, informative and professional manner.

I was unfortunate to develop a macular hole in my left eye. Following delay of treatment by the NHS I made the decision to go private and thankfully my optician referred me to Mr Balaggan. I cannot praise him enough. He was most informative and understanding of my concerns about losing my sight. His initial assessment was that he would try to improve my vision but was unsure how successful it would be. Thankfully the operation was a complete success. I was so pleased that I decided to have my right eye cataract operated on by My Balaggan. In my eyes he is the best and I can't thank him enough.

I’ve had 2 cataract surgeries done by Mr Balaggan with excellent outcomes. Everything explained in great detail and operations successful. Removing the need for me to wear glasses , except for reading small text.

Kam is extremely good at putting you at your ease and explains what he’s doing fully. He knows just what everyone of his patients needs are. As far as Ophthalmologists go I would not see anyone else only Kam

I've been lucky to have had wonderful opticians for many years; Colin Lee, in Lichfield. When they identified a problem as a retinal membrane on my right eye & development of cataracts in both, I was worried. I've been type 1 diabetic for over 50-years, but had been told there was nothing wrong by the NHS 3-years earlier. I tried to get them to look again, but after waiting 10-months was forced to ask for advice from Colin Lee's, who suggested Mr Balaggan, at Little Aston.
He saw me quickly & agreed that I needed help, booking my first operation in March & second in May. Now (in early June) my distance vision and colour perception has improved markedly, with only minor distortions in my right eye and I'm seeing a referred ophthalmologist for the in two days.
Under these circumstances, I'd always expect the specialist to be good, but in the case of Mr Balaggan's team it's "not only" the consultant, who has been as superb as his reputation that precedes him, "but also" the superb team that support him. Between them all, my experience has been exceptionally good and I'd like to thank everyone in Mr Balaggan's team who's looked after me in the last six-months.

Having seen the ophthalmologist, as mentioned above, I’m hoping to get my “lazy eye” corrected by the end of the year as well. It’s been more difficult than I expected at the outset, but to be able to see well without glasses, except for reading, will be a blessed answer to my psyche.

I first met Mr Ballagan at New Cross Hospital, when he diagnosed a Epiretinol Membrane.
I next sought Mr Ballagans advice privately, when my eyesight began to fail over a very short period of time, and he diagnosed cataracts in both eyes.
Mr Ballagan is very attentive, and always thorough in his examinations and diagnostics. I have never felt rushed during appointments, even when he’s been running late.
Both surgeries at the Nuffield hospital were painless and stress free and the theatre team at the Nuffield were so caring and reassuring - big shout out to the anaesthetists who on both occasions, made a real effort to engage and chat, which was lovely of them!
Mr Ballagan was calm, reassuring and efficient.
The results are excellent in first eye, and as very recent, still improving daily in second eye.
