I purchased a product advertised with a one‑year warranty. After only a short time, it stopped working. When I tried to get help, I discovered Rakuten has no real customer service. They only have AI bots that provide no assistance. There is no way to contact the seller directly, and my attempts to reach them by email went unanswered.

I spent long hours searching the Rakuten website without finding any genuine support or human contact. This is unacceptable. Customers should ask themselves: what happens when your product fails and you need help? In my case, the answer was wasted time, frustration, and no resolution.

Rakuten needs to take responsibility and provide real customer service. Until then, I cannot recommend purchasing anything from this platform.

I have purchased the item that was incorrectly sent and when i asked for a return it took already 2 weeks and no followup and no reimbursement , even i did not recieve any information on what is the process stuck on.
I would definitely avoid them as their return process is not trust worthy, amazon or other places have immediate return process with this company it's a hassle

I bought a camera (sony a7rv) from Rakuten that was delivered with a fake battery. When trying to raise a claim with the seller or with Rakuten they just shut down the claim despite having the documentation from Sony saying the battery in question is a fake. The serial number is on the lists of fake batteries and the weight is too low. Also the camera shuts itself down when the battery is at approximately 30%. They are clearly not following the rules for stopping counterfeit goods in Europe.

was promised, in septembre 2025, an answer withing 90 days (a delay that is quite long), but i am still waiting, after 10 months (yes ten !!) for a solution to a pending cashback for more thant 19 months now...
you can easily imagine my views on Rakuten ....

Package never arrived. No help in sight. I stick to Amazon instead. They put you in touch with a person in case of a problem.

Always found many good deals with the platform. Their pricing is unbeatable sometimes

Be aware that this is a dishonest company.
They said they closed my account 'on my demand' (I can show their mail) but of course I never asked to do that and they are not willing to prove that I did ask for it. Support is leading in circles and uncooperative.
They claim that now that the account is closed they cannot refund the money on my account, which is plain theft.

My account has been closed 'on my demand' which is not true. I asked to check why I cannot login anymore ('too many retries' in the URL). If the solution is to delete accounts (which contain valuable info for me about trusted sellers and past items bought) instead of solving a technical issue, then I would not recommend this company. The chatbot is worthless and support is not even replying to requests sent via mail or other official channels. Very disappointing since I found many good books in the past on the rakuten site which I cannot use anymore now.

I recently ordered a Sony ZV-1 camera listed as "New" from a marketplace seller called BOSS DFC on Rakuten. When the package arrived, it was a total fraud: a completely non-conforming product, coming straight from China via parallel import, with no original packaging, missing accessories, and zero official manufacturer warranty in Europe. The seller knowingly lied about the condition and origin of the product.
While Rakuten’s customer service eventually stepped in and forced the seller to provide a return label, the process is incredibly tedious for the victim. I had to waste my own time and resources printing international customs declarations and commercial invoices to ship the item back to China.

The worst part is Rakuten’s broken review system. Because the order was officially canceled during the dispute, Rakuten completely blocks the option to leave a review or rate the seller. This means fraudulent storefronts like BOSS DFC can maintain artificially high ratings because the scammed customers who return their products are systematically silenced.
Rakuten is failing to protect consumers by preventing us from warning the community. If you are looking for authentic, reliable tech gear, stay far away from Rakuten's marketplace.

This is a fantastic marketplace that serves as a highly reliable intermediary between buyers and sellers. Everything about the transaction was perfect. The information provided was incredibly clear, shipping was fast, and the platform guarantees complete security for both parties.

Terrible. I made a purchase in December, specifically because they offered a £25 bonus for myself and the person who referred me for purchases over £50. It is still pending despite numerous messages and emails. They have paid the referer but have still not paid me. They have said that the company have not confirmed my purchase. This has been a headache and I do not appreciate that they have inconsistently applied the offer, with my friend receiving the bonus but not myself. It is also not my problem if the company that they have partnered with have not updated them appropriately and frankly they should be chasing this and ensuring the companies they partner with are fulfilling their obligations to their customers. It honestly has not been worth the effort and their communication has been terrible. I have had to chase up replies which have been rude to say the least. Baring in mind that they use this to collect data on their customers and presumably selling it on, so they are profiting off of people signing up with promises of bonuses but then refusing to pay the agreed bonus. Appalling and I would recommend staying away if you’re thinking of signing up for the bonuses/joining rewards.

Edit 05/06/2026: regarding Rakuten response - please provide an email address so that I can send you my Rakuten account details and forward on the chain of emails that I have sent and received. The link you have sent is unhelpful.

Following this issue, Rakuten customer support promptly sent a response. I then received my cashback and will continue to recommend their site and services.

I bought a Samsung Galaxy 5g phone last year, on July 25th. It was easy and quick to get the phone, and I take an insurance forrobbery and accidents. I never could obtain the certification of this insurance, I asked for several times, in vain.But on April 8th, I could't use my phone any more: the internet connection was dead. I tried to declare the damage, Rakuten refused and said that it was the seller's problem, and as he was no more on the platform,I had to send his a reclamation at the last adress they have. Of course, no answer at this adress neither at the phone. Rakuten says: we are absolutely not concerned by your problem, try maybe with Samsung. So be sure that in case of problem, you have nothing to hope from Rakuten. I will never buy anything from this platform, and i tell you to do so, they are unfair.
