I appreciate your having got it done. The one thing that could have been better was that it was shipped to a wrong address. The FedEx driver called me from an address about 7 miles away. It may have... See more

I really appreciate Fields Data Recovery's responsiveness and will recommend them to my friends and co-workers. They were able to retrieve the lion's share of my data and saved me a ton of time --well worth the cost. They communicated frequently during the process which let me know they valued me as a customer and understood the importance of the task at hand.

See other reviews. They claim on the phone, they are almost 100% certain they can recover your data from your drive. They tout their expertise in handling NAND chip failures. All verbal, so there's no physical proof if you try to make a claim afterwards. I sent in a USB drive - they told me they could do it, it would take 2-3 weeks. Over 2 months later, after "advanced engineering attempts," I was out over $1300 and nothing to show for it. I pressed for a report or something, and they sent a vague work order report. So again, virtually nothing. Do not believe their confidence. They are simply used car salesman playing a different game. Oh, and notice how after a few really bad reviews post, there's several glowing, awesome reviews. Since TrustPilot doesn't verify it, take it as a grain of salt. Beware!!

I sent in my hard drive for diagnosis, when I was given the price quote I asked to get my drive back as it'd be awhile before I could afford it. Now that I can finally afford it I brought it to a different company and come to find out that fields mangled my drive, what was a near garentee of full recovery was turned into a miracle that the drive still even responds and I'll be lucky to get 30% of my data off of it. Unless you are able to pay these people right away to recover your drive dont send it to them, your drive will be way worse off then it was before by time you get it back.

There is a pattern if you read the reviews. They claim, on phone, they are almost 100% certain they can recover your data from the hard drive. They tell you this on the phone so there's no physical proof if you try to make a claim afterwards. I sent in a hard drive like many others - they told me they could do it, it would take 2-3 weeks. In the end, I had to keep chasing them, sometimes getting no response. Took over 2 months for them to finally tell me they were not going to be able to retrieve data and that no refund would be given. I was left with a $2k+ bill for nothing. My opinion is this service is mostly a scam and I would advise anyone else to not go with this company.

Don't look at there ads they list price in the hundards you will end up paying thousands and you will not get back your old drive. After paying you then get there is no guarantee that any data will be retrieved

The small company I represent was a little shocked at the initial quote... as was I
The price was cut in half during a conversation with the rep - and that was both surprising and acceptable.
The recovery was nearly complete, with one main folder un-recovered.
Aside from that 1 main folder it looks like everything is there!
Justin was helpful and professional in our dealings.
Thank you!

Fields Data Recovery saved my life's work. This is no exaggeration. I cannot fully emphasize how grateful I am to the work that was done.
In short, all of my photography from travels around the world, 7 years of work, was on an external hard drive. Back in 2021, it stopped working. I had first contacted a different recovery service, but the price was so high, I couldn't afford it. By now, June of 2026, I was afraid it had been too long since the initial issue and my work was totally lost.
Then I contacted Fields Data Recovery. They sent me a free shipping label to get the hard drive to them and promised only to charge me if they could actually do anything with it. They dug in, found my hard drive badly degraded in various ways, and proceeded to essentially dissect my hard drive and rebuild it.
They gave me multiple chances to be informed of what was going to be done, and to choose whether I wanted to keep going or not. At no point did I feel pressured. They did not talk to me like a mechanic might, throwing confusing terms at me and overwhelming me. It was all clear, concise, and sensible.
This review is longer than I meant it to be, but I wanted to fully explain how amazing this place is, and what a terrific job they did. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Fields Data Recovery to everyone!!!

1. No charge if data is not recovered.
2. More affordable than some competitors.
3. Options were made clear over the phone once it looked like the recovery would be successful.

I had a Western Digital MyBook external hard drive fail.
A local computer repair shop took a look and suggested I go to a forensic data recovery company. I did this, and after a month, they told me there was nothing that could be done, the data was lost and that was that.
I was absolutely gutted as I had lost 6 years' worth of creative work. But I thought it was worth getting a third opinion.
It was actually Grok that recommended Fields data recovery.
I spoke to a helpful chap, they sent DHL to collect the disk free of charge that same day, and called me after a few days to tell me what they had done and that there was a good chance they could recover the data. I also received email updates to say when the disk was received etc.
Now it wasn't cheap, but you have to weigh up how important the data is, and my creative work isn't easily replaceable. And also, specialist services aren't always cheap. These guys were able to do what two other companies had failed to do. Sometimes you have to pay out for a quality service. So prepare yourself for some potential expense. It may sting a little but how relieved and happy would you be to get your data back?
I'm so glad I didn't accept the second companies' conclusion. Fields Data recovery have been excellent from start to finish. The sense of relief and gratitude is well worth the money to get my work back.
Thank you guys. Highly recommended.

I'm very satisfied with the quality of service from your company. From the 1st call, till the receipt of my hard drive, your people were very helpful and knowledgeable.
All my data was recovered, years of work I could never replace and completed in a timely manner. Thank you very much for your help.

I think the data recovery companies work together to generate income knowing that the hard drive had been reviewed by other recovery teams to no avail. Fields knew that we had already been told that the data could not be recovered, but we were told for $ 2600.00 they could recover the data...Not true and they kept the $$$.What a RIPOFF...

Excellent communication, and most of all, they recovered my files.

They did not recover my iphoto album as requested and charged me $4000 for it. I would absolutely under no circumstances use this company again nor recommend it to anybody.

I had such a bad experience. For those tho long about using fields-data-recovery, you should understand they will sell you that they know what the problem is and need to get the parts. But then they won’t be able to get your data….yet they JUST told you they know what the problem is and they just need the money to order the parts. Unreal. So my issue was that I sent in 4 drives. I talked to someone who was super nice and told me how they work and where to mail the drives, etc. Then someone will call you back to tell you what they need to extract the data. In my case they called and said “good news!… we know what the problem is, we just need to order the “read heads” for all 4 drives….oh yeah and we need $4800 for that. “. That’s ALL they said….i don’t know how this works….so my impression is that $4800 stands in between me and my data. I paid the money, and in like another several days a DIFFERENT person called to say “hey we were able to get data for 2 out of 4 drives…thanks for the money!!!”
I was sick….are you serious?
So someone called and said that one drive had bitlocker….and they couldn’t get to the data…so then how did you know the read head was busted? Or why not warn me first that one of my drives was bitlockered? Like these drives are years old and we don’t remember where they came from THATS WHY WE USED YOUR SERVICE…..we thought you would be honest…we thought you would care about customers. What you showed me was that you care about money. The other drive they just said…”we still heard the clicking noise even after replacing the head…so no data from that one…”
What!??! That’s it? I thought you KNEW what the problem was!
Warning: you will be sold solutions that won’t work. Buyer beware.
Update: 5/20/26 - I have not been contacted yet by anyone at the company. My email is the same: michmor2k@hotmail

It ended up costing a LOT more than expected, since I was first told it would cost no less than $199 and turned out to cost $2400. If I would have had an idea it could cost that much I might have tried getting it fixed here in town. But I did get all my info!
