CARE - Booking was easy but confirmation and voucher took over 24 hours despite putting in requests. Unfortunately for me, they classified the booking as non-refundable because it was inside the cut out time. I could not tell if it was the car company TargetRent or Doyouitaly that was the problem. BE CAREFUL - I will see if my credit card company can help but I suspect not. No car and no refund.
I paid $689.63, received no car, and DoYouItaly kept the entire amount
I genuinely feel cheated by my experience with DoYouItaly, and I want other customers to understand exactly what happened before deciding whether to book through this intermediary.
I prepaid USD 689.63 through DoYouItaly for a Keddy/Europcar rental at Alghero Airport. I arrived at the rental counter at the scheduled time to collect the car, but Europcar/Keddy refused to release it because I did not have an International Driving Permit.
I want to be completely fair and transparent: the IDP requirement was contained in the detailed rental conditions, so I accept responsibility for not having that document.
But that is not the reason for this review.
The issue is what happened to my $689.63 after the rental never took place.
I received no car whatsoever. The rental never commenced. I did not use the vehicle for a single day.
At the Europcar/Keddy desk, I was told that Europcar had not taken my money and that I should receive my refund from DoYouItaly. Because of this, I initially expected the money to be returned.
When the refund did not arrive, I contacted Europcar again by telephone — multiple times — and was again told that they had not taken my money and that DoYouItaly was the party that had collected the payment and should refund me.
Yet DoYouItaly has refused to refund me anything.
This is the part I find extremely difficult to accept: how can an intermediary retain the entire $689.63 when the underlying rental company says it did not take my money, no vehicle was supplied and the rental never even started?
I could understand DoYouItaly retaining its legitimate booking/administration fee or commission, even calculated as though the booking had taken place. If Europcar/Keddy incurred a genuine charge because I could not collect the vehicle, I would also expect that amount to be documented and deducted.
But keeping 100% of the entire prepaid amount is something completely different.
The booking also included insurance/protection associated with the rental. There was no rental and therefore no use of that protection. Nevertheless, I have received zero refund.
There is another important detail. Before collection, DoYouItaly sent me a prominent “Don't forget” checklist telling me to bring my rental voucher, original driving licence, ID/passport and credit card. The International Driving Permit was not listed in that prominent checklist. Again, I acknowledge that the IDP requirement existed deeper in the detailed conditions, but when failure to bring one document can apparently result in losing almost $700, I believe that requirement should be made exceptionally clear in the collection checklist.
I have tried repeatedly to resolve this directly with DoYouItaly. I asked them not only for a refund, but also to explain what happened to the $689.63: how much, if anything, went to Europcar/Keddy, how much represents DoYouItaly's own fee or commission, how much relates to protection/insurance, and on what basis they believe they can retain the entire amount when the underlying rental service was never provided.
I have not received a satisfactory resolution.
What makes this experience so upsetting is that I am not asking to escape responsibility for my mistake. I accept that I should have had the required IDP.
What I cannot accept is the idea that my mistake automatically justifies an intermediary retaining every dollar of a $689.63 prepaid booking, even though I received no car and the rental company itself repeatedly told me it had not taken my money.
I feel that I paid $689.63 and received nothing in return.
I am still giving DoYouItaly the opportunity to resolve this fairly. I am asking them to refund the amount that was not actually incurred by the rental company, or at the very least provide a transparent accounting showing exactly where my $689.63 went and why each amount is supposedly non-refundable.
If DoYouItaly resolves this and refunds the money, I will update this review to accurately reflect the resolution.
Until then, based on my experience, I would be extremely cautious about prepaying a substantial amount through DoYouItaly rather than booking directly with the actual rental company.

Don't waste your time with this charlatan company.
When they take your money its instant but when they owe you money, they make you wait and wait. I'm still waiting for a refund. The car company cancelled my car and I was stuck without a car at 1am. I contacted doyouitaly the next day and asked for my money back via phone call and email. Ive had one reply saying they will contact the car rental company. Then nothing!
Disaster not a service. They charge you, take payment and when you arrive to the station for pickup, they say they did not accept. They claim they are only third party provider. Its missleading, poor service. Not recommended. There much better service providers
Was so easy to book on the internet
would definitely recommend
prices are fantastic

⭐ WARNING – THINK TWICE BEFORE BOOKING WITH DO YOU ITALY
Our experience with Do You Italy was extremely disappointing and stressful, and we strongly recommend that other customers think twice before booking a rental car with this company.
Our flight to Olbia was delayed. In the days before our departure, we made repeated attempts to contact Do You Italy to inform them of the changed arrival time and make sure our rental car would still be available. We tried calling, emailing and contacting them via WhatsApp.
We received absolutely no response.
When we finally arrived in Olbia, we went to the agreed pick-up location. Nobody from Do You Italy was there. There was no representative, no assistance and no useful information about our booking.
Because it was already late and we had been unable to reach anyone, we had no choice but to arrange accommodation and return the following day.
And then came the biggest disappointment.
When we arrived at the office the next day, we were simply told that our reserved car was no longer available. Despite having made the reservation in advance and despite our repeated attempts to notify the company about our delayed arrival, we were left without the vehicle we had booked and were forced to arrange another rental at a much higher cost.
In our opinion, this is completely unacceptable customer service.
The replacement vehicle was also far from satisfactory. It was old and dirty, inside and out, and several features were not working properly. We were also promised the password required to use the GPS, but despite being told that this information would be sent to us, we never received it.
What made the situation even worse was the attitude of the staff. Instead of showing understanding for what had happened, we experienced the employees as cold, unhelpful and on several occasions frankly rude.
So, to be absolutely clear about what happened:
❌ Repeated attempts to contact the company received no response
❌ Nobody was present at the agreed pick-up location
❌ Our reserved vehicle was no longer available
❌ We were forced to arrange a replacement rental at considerably higher cost
❌ We incurred additional costs because of the situation
❌ The replacement vehicle was in poor condition
❌ Promised GPS information was never provided
❌ Customer service and staff attitude were extremely disappointing
This was not the start to our holiday that anyone should have to experience.
The most important advice we can give future customers is: be extremely careful when booking with Do You Italy. If your flight is delayed, do not assume that the company will be reachable or that your reservation will be protected. Keep evidence of every attempt to contact them and make sure you have a backup plan.
A rental car company should provide reassurance and assistance when a customer experiences a flight delay. Our experience was the complete opposite.
Based on our experience, we would not book with Do You Italy again, and we strongly advise other travellers to consider their options carefully before making a reservation.
