Company is using shady practices and terms and conditions when it comes to payment methods. In particular: renting a car through other providers, they refuse payment through debit card, and in order to use your reservation you must pay steep centauro insurance fees (around 30 eur /day).
Staff is completely careless and uncompassionate about this matter.

Picked up a car at Alicante airport. Brought my Amex card to pay the normal holding deposit, but they didn’t take Amex. As I didn’t have another credit card, I was told by Alvaro, the receptionist, that my only other option if I want the car was to pay €300 for their Smart Cover, and promised me that this was 100% refunded automatically at the end of the trip given there was no new damage to the car.
Turns out he’d scammed me into what I imagine earned him some commission… I’ve been refunded only €100 out of the €300, as the fuel deposit. My rental was €60 euros for the week, so I was conned into paying over 3x he rental price in just their insurance alone.
As I was mislead and lied to by the receptionist. I highly advise you use any of the other several companies at Alicante, even if Centauro offers the best price. Don’t be fooled and lied to by the shady receptionists. Lots of other reviews say the same.

Would give a zero out of 5 if I could. Extremely rude service desk employees at Cagliari airport. I have never experienced such poor customer service. The employee was extremely rude and literally refused to serve us and responded to everyone else in the queue including new people who had walked in after we had been waiting for 30 minutes. We only got served after another employee came in and assisted us. I am still shocked at how we had been treated.

The worst experience ever
2 hour to get the car
Take the car back and get charged 75 euros for a tiny bit of sane on the back seats
375 euros for a scratch that was there when I got it
They are rude
They are aggressive
Worst service ever and will never use anywhere in the world again
Vile humans

In general it was all good. Booking was reasonably easy and the emails were clear (Via DiscountCars.com and then nearer the time from Centauro themselves).
It was quite expensive, especially considering we booked a "Kia Sportage or similar". I do not know who or how they decide car model equivalence. We got a Cupra Formentor, which is noticeably smaller than a Sportage, especially the boot. There were 5 of us and it was very very difficult to get all of us and the luggage in the car. (We drove to the UK airport in my Sportage so I know we managed to fit in everything much more easily in the Sportage).
The ticketing system worked well at Alicante. We grabbed our ticket and were served maybe within 5 minutes (it wasn't busy).
They DIDN'T try the hard sell on the insurance which was refreshing...!
But they did try the hard upsell to get us to go for an automatic (more expenisve) car. Perhaps this was because we'd been allocated the smaller Cupra Formentor...
When we got to the car park, the car was not in the numbered bay stated by the agent, but a helpful Centauro agent in the car park quickly helped us find it.
The wind screen fluid was low, and by the time we drove back to Alicante (having barely used the fluid) the warning light was on. If we'd actually used the car more than we did we would probably have run out of fluid on a drive somewhere as there were a few days of rain whilst we were there).
Having said all that, overall the experience was as positive as you can hope for when renting a car in a Spanish tourist airport.
We got the refund for the fuel and deposit ok - eventually - it took about 5 days for all the credit card transactions to resolve.
We'll happily try them again in future and see if we get a car more aligned to our booked expectations....

Fraud company and staff with pathetic behavior and a total lack of common sense.
I rented a car in Rhodes, and during the return, I filled the tank completely, but the digital fuel gauge failed to update due to a technical malfunction. When I brought the car back, they instructed me to drive it to a nearby petrol station again. I complied and added a small amount of fuel past the auto-cut until it was visibly full to the brim, yet the digital meter still remained unchanged.
I returned to the office, showed them the petrol receipts, and explained that the gauge failure was completely out of my control. I also invited them to inspect the tank themselves to verify that it was full. They insisted that they only rely on the digital meter and flatly refused to accompany me back to the petrol station, which was only one kilometer away. Every single employee present was completely inflexible, refused to acknowledge the car's mechanical fault, and lacked basic common sense.
Needless to say, their rude and authoritative behavior made both my partner and me extremely uncomfortable.

I have been waiting in Alicante airport for an hour already. 40 tickets got processed in that time 20 more to go….

We arrived to Alicante airport, pre booked the car rental and went to Centauro to collect keys; Queue was unbelievable, it took me a while to print ticket and then nearly 90 minutes we were waiting. When we finally went to a desk, we have been told that priority was given to people who booked online directly on Centauro web site - basically we were punished for booking through broker; girl had a disrespectful attitude and expressing that we should have booked directly and bought full insurance. I had a feeling that she was told to act that way. It’s really pity because we rent 3-5 times a year and will definitely avoid Centauro even if broker suggests their cars

We booked car online through doyourspain and received vaucher for cenatauro in Alicante airport;even there is 10 desks, 6 is working, waiting list is based on first come first serve and in between people with premium booking are prioritised; we arrived at 8.30pm, now is 21.33, still massive queue , nearly 30 more people is around too; this is very disappointing from Centauro, in a past we had much better experience with them;yes, value to rent a car for 12 days was very good but this is no excuse for slow work of people at their desks, ticket printing machine not printing, not nice welcome to tourists to beautiful Spain. Update- we managed to be at the desk around before 22h; Centauri employee was not helpful and on the edge of rude because we didn’t buy extra insurance; she told us because we didn’t book the car directly on Centauro site that we were pushed back on the list and that it is what it is; I am afraid this is last time to rent a car with Centauro

€932.60 charged after we were told everything was fine – Centauro Florence Airport
We had a very bad experience with Centauro at Florence Airport.
When we returned the rental car, the staff were unfriendly and clearly in a hurry. We were told that everything was fine and were asked to sign quickly because the employee needed to move on. At no point were we informed about any damage to the wheels, nor was any damage shown to us.
We therefore left believing that the car had been returned and checked without any issues.
To our surprise, Centauro later charged €932.60 to our credit card, claiming there was damage to the wheels.
When we went back the following day to ask for an explanation, Centauro showed us photos of scratches on the wheels. However, photos shown to us a day later do not prove that this damage occurred during our rental period or that we caused it.
What makes this particularly frustrating is that we were specifically told at the time of return that everything was fine and were rushed into signing. If the damage was already visible when we returned the car, why was it not pointed out and discussed with us before we signed and left?
We strongly dispute that Centauro has sufficiently demonstrated that we caused this damage, as well as the €932.60 charge to our credit card.
This experience has completely damaged our trust in Centauro. Based on the way this was handled, we cannot recommend Centauro Florence Airport.
Advice to other customers: take detailed photos and videos of every part of the car, especially all four wheels, both when collecting and returning the vehicle. And do not allow yourself to be rushed into signing anything.

Company doesn't pay back deposits.
They took €50 for fuel and €100 for toll roads. We returned the car with more fuel than when we collected and used €20 on toll roads. Well over 15 working days and no refund.
Also absolutely no way to contact them. Fill out the online form and they'll give you a generic reply and say they consider the matter closed. I guarantee they will reply to this review asking me to get in touch via a link. The link will take me to help page and round you go. I won't get my deposits back and there is nothing I can do about it. Bunch of thieves.
*Edit...
Told you.

I booked a 7-seater vehicle at Venice Airport, I waited 40 minutes for the Centauro shuttle. When I finally arrived at the office, I were told that our 7-seater was not available, and there was no other 7-seater or 9-seater available either.
The only solution was two 5-seater cars, with the second supposedly free. I had no choice but to accept because my customers were waiting. However, we were left with extra fuel, toll and parking costs.
Then, when returning the cars, Centauro charged us for the second rental anyway and did not refund the fuel deposit.
Their after-sales service is impossible to deal with — no response, no responsibility, no solution.
I have now started legal proceedings regarding the alleged breach of contract and charges.
Extremely disappointing experience. Never again.

really really poor response when chasing up a simple enough request. I had a puncture, got towed, my insurance covers towing but they needed an email from centauro to say that towing was because of a puncture. called, emailed, sent ticket, nothing back at all. called Thessaloniki branch they said they couldnt help. really poor. avoid

A SCAM Agency. Rented car in Sardinia. Agent told us on pick up that we need to sign that any charge they want to make to our card can be made without being discussed with us. We had no choice but to sign. On returning the car 2 agents said the car is in perfect condition and that we can go. They also failed, despite requested to write this down. Later they charged us €300 for "boot damage". Completely fabricated. Never rent with this agency!

AWFUL. Centauro picked us up late, and then managed to push extra insurance on us - including lying about what my existing cover included. Never use this company.

Terrible service at the desk, extortionate hidden fees, horrible and confusing sales tactics at the desk. The person who served us was trying to scare us to upsell excess waivers. I also have had the entire excess take from my account even though it should have just been a hold? The person at the desk also explained nothing useful to us or how anything with the hire works. Worst hire car experience of my life. I have only had positive ones so this is by far the worst.
I will NEVER hire with centauro again. On top of that the car is old and Rubbish, and not what I ordered (I ordered a jeep avenger). Instead got a budget, smelly, basic MG model.
I also tried to call the desk 5 times costing me money as I am UK number and it just made me hold for ages before just hanging up. Would not recommend to literally anyone even if desperate.

Poor customer service and overcharged by double what I paid for the car in the first place including a 50€ (?) and incorrect fuel charge. It was taken out of my deposit which I’d already put my pin in for. Cant get in contact with them, every time I get an email reply saying they consider my case resolved.
