30% Higher Prices for Hungarian Customers – No Explanation Provided
I have been a customer of several Italian menswear brands for years and unfortunately my recent experience with Gutteridge has been very disappointing.
A few weeks ago, I noticed that the same products were being offered at significantly higher prices on the Hungarian website compared to several other EU countries. After comparing multiple products, I consistently found substantially higher prices for Hungarian customers.
I contacted Gutteridge several times to understand the reason behind these differences. The company confirmed that it applies a different pricing policy to countries that do not use the euro as their official currency, but despite multiple requests, I was not provided with any objective explanation that would justify the significant price differences observed.
What makes the situation even more frustrating is that:
- The website and app experience for Hungary has been problematic.
- Products and sizes available in other EU countries have not always been available through the Hungarian storefront.
- Gutteridge continues to advertise products and offers that do not reflect the experience available to Hungarian customers.
As a customer, I was simply looking for transparency and a clear explanation. Unfortunately, after several weeks of communication and providing detailed evidence, I still have not received one.
For comparison, I have had much better experiences with other Italian menswear brands, including Dan John, Luigi Fusaro, Spada, Paul Taylor, Sartoria Italiana, and others, where pricing and customer experience have been far more consistent.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Gutteridge at this time.

In Hungary, prices are expressed in US dollars (USD) rather than euros. Managing a currency different from the company’s reference currency necessarily involves specific management of foreign exchange risk, currency conversions, and related costs. For this reason, prices applied in the Hungarian market may differ from those available on other European websites.
These differences are therefore not intended to disadvantage Hungarian customers, but are part of our commercial policy for the different international markets in which we operate.
We are sorry that, despite our previous communications, you did not feel that you had received a sufficiently clear explanation. Our goal is to provide a transparent and consistent experience while maintaining commercial policies that are appropriate to the specific characteristics of each market.

products are fantastic customer service representative are the worst and because of there lack of appreciation for customers and difficult non friendly way to ever return items you waste alot of money example i always order large i bought 3 linen sweaters they were no described as runs very big i opened wore washed still super big i asked for consideration zero zero zero respect to order again which i did and not even 1 penny off.i would have said sorry good customer we should give better description take a percentage off they said no no no fire that representative bad for your business.respect good customers i see you just responded with a generic response typical of bad service reps that cannot defend there bad actions your response has nothing to do with my concerns as well this is usa no bs here thx

Dismal quality of Bermuda shorts
I have bought Bermuda shorts in Venice in June this year. The shorts were worn just for 10 times in about one month time, however they degraded like been worn for years. I never washed them, never sweated in them, never used them under rain or water or any humidity, however they simply lost their blue color from the outside completely. From inside it's all fine.
I am truly puzzled how this could have happened as every time they were worn for just half an hour or so in Lisbon, Portugal. I have other shorts from other Italian brands which I have been wearing for years now and over 100 of times each and they do not show even anything close to such wear as my Gutteridge from Venice.
I have visited Venice shop today, however they told me that they cannot do anything at all and suggested to contact Gutteridge via email. I did that and got reply that their support is just for online purchases and that I need to take this with the shop from where I bought the shorts. Nice ping-pong!
What I can say - NEVER again with this brand!!!! The quality is simply pathetic and their after sales support does not care about anything at all!

However, we would like to clarify that, from the moment you reported the issue, our Customer Care team made every effort to find a suitable solution. As an alternative to returning the item, we first offered you a store credit/gift card so you could keep the trousers without the inconvenience of an international return shipment from Cyprus. When you declined this option, we immediately offered you a free return.
You then requested that we send you the missing buttons and also provide a free shipping code to place a new order. We explained that, during our sale period, free shipping codes cannot be applied, and we asked how you would prefer to proceed with the solutions already offered. Unfortunately, we did not receive any further instructions from you.
For this reason, we are disappointed to read that our customer service was "not willing to help at all," as this does not reflect the assistance and the alternatives that were provided throughout our communication. We always strive to resolve every issue fairly and promptly, and we regret that none of the proposed solutions met your expectations.

Worst customer service ever in an online shop. First of all Gutteridge delivered articles with stains and failures, and although immeadiatley returned gutteridge did not want to take their article back. Cheap quality and cheap customer service, never replied to emails, now need to pay for an article that I have returned.
Those online shops need to disappear!!!

Contrary to what is stated in your review, we responded to your inquiries on multiple occasions through different channels, including email and, most recently, WhatsApp, where we once again explained our return policy. All in all ok but with lots of improvement potential
The website and online shop do not work flawlessly and are a bit confusing sometimes (e.g. the shopping cart not showing the exact number of items). That does not build trust. They advertise with "free shipping" but returns cost 15 Euros - pretty high. Quality of clothes is ok for a reduced price. The normal prices however are absolutely ridiculous. The cut and style of the garments is pretty good. I like the relatively soft shoulders on their suit jackets.

Standards and customer service that do not meet expectations
I ordered two pairs of trousers (€89 each in the sale). The first pair arrived without issue. The second pair, which arrived in a separate shipment, unfortunately had a detached button. I promptly reached out to customer support, providing a picture of the item and asking for a refund. I received the following reply: 'Ci dispiace per l'inconveniente riscontrato. Tuttavia, dalle immagini ricevute, il bottone risulta integro e il fatto che non sia saldamente cucito non ne compromette la funzionalità né l'utilizzo del capo.
Per questo motivo, non ci è possibile accettare il reso come articolo difettoso.
Per qualsiasi ulteriore informazione o necessità, restiamo a Sua completa disposizione.
La ringraziamo per la comprensione.'
In short, the button is intact and the fact that it is not securely sewn on does not affect its functionality or the usability of the garment.
My personal opinion is that a detached button affects usability, but you can judge for yourself. Additionally, given the brand and the price of the item, which is almost 90 euros, I am expecting perfection, or at least a solution. I suggest buying from the physical stores, as the online store is clearly not up to standard.
Next time, send me the fabric and buttons and I'll sew them on myself, as the functionality is not affected.
