I just picked up this year's Reading 'SATS Smasher' test from Grammasaurus (written by 'practising teachers', according to their website) and spotted not one but two glaring grammatical errors.

Q1: Why do you think Masha decide to go home?
Q4: How does Billy feel about the dragon when he goes back to the room to get dressed.

As I wrote the above questions, my gramma tool picked BOTH errors up. Incorrect verb tense, and wrong punctuation at the end of question 4 (should be a question mark, not a period, especially when the rest of the questions all end with a question mark).

I suppose the irony is in the name of the company.

Either way, I don't think anybody will be 'smashing' any tests if this is the new standard.

PS It's a shame I can't upload photos, but there must be thousands of these test floating around.

I have now done two online courses with Mitch now and both have been informative and practical. I also love how the content can be used in a way that meets the needs of your school.

A very informative CPD course. The facilitator was extremely knowledgeable and able to share excellent examples. The resources provided were great and I can already see how this will have a huge impact across the school. We have been looking for a spelling scheme to drive our spelling and this will definitely do this.

Incredibly experienced trainer who really know his stuff about word origins. Breaks is down simply for us to understand. It makes sense as an approach to improve spelling across the school. The whole process has been thought about in regards to assessment, monitoring that data as well as teaching.

We use Grammarsaus all the time in our school - it is an invaluable resource! We use it to aid our planning of maths, English and some non-core.

We’ve been using it for SPaG for a while, and exploring their spelling scheme. I’ve done the training, which was in-depth and really clear. We can’t wait to see the impact at our school!

Excellent training. The way that spelling has been broken down is completely changing how we are looking at words, even as we are making notes!

Informative training which contained extensive research and pedagogical knowledge. As a primary teacher with dyslexia myself, this is the first spelling training/teaching that actually makes sense and shows how ‘simple’ spelling can be with the right knowledge and tools.

This has been an eye opening view of spelling and how we make a difference for our children. Great that it is something different to the norm that will really make a difference.

Wow! What a brilliant training course from Mitch. It’s been delivered in a clear, enthusiastic way and the accompanying training booklet is very helpful. All terms are explained brilliantly particularly etymology and why this is important. The supporting flashcards and the dual coding are such a helpful tool. The teaching of spelling is now something I’ll look forward to as I won’t have to say “these words are exceptions” and “it just is”. This approach makes total sense! I can’t wait get started!

Something that makes sense! As a Y6 teacher, this could really change the poor spelling ability of my children, who have experienced years of a phonics scheme. Still lots to learn, but a great start! Thank you 😊

Mitch is so knowledgeable! The scheme is well designed and the support provided is brilliant. The training is well organised and explained clearly. When you start at teaching, it’s logical and well sequenced to help all children. The team is brilliant at providing support and help - quick to reply to emails!
