CIBC Facilitates Financial Fraud…
CIBC Facilitates Financial Fraud Through Its Chargeback System and disputes team
Absolutely disgraceful. CIBC has enabled financial fraud against our business.
Customer Eber Doyle paid $600, cancelled his order and received a documented $575.11 refund on July 2, 2026, supported by a traceable Visa ARN - 74073446184100216780005
Three months later, he filed a $45.89 chargeback which does not correspond whatsoever.
CIBC's own pre-arbitration documents acknowledge the refund and explicitly identify $24.89 as the amount of a processing fee. Yet CIBC stole $45.89. WHY?
We supplied the refund confirmation, transaction records and published cancellation terms. CIBC still stole $45 so the customer got a $575.11 refund + $45 profit.
The customer has now received $575.11 in refunds PLUS another $45.89 through the chargeback — a total of $621.00 returned against an original $600 transaction.
We regard this as financial fraud through abuse of the chargeback system, with CIBC enabling an unjustified payment reversal. CIBC will be reported to financial regulators for this
Worst bank I've ever dealt with
Worst bank I've ever dealt with. Victim of fraud and no one wants to help. Claim was opened October 13th and still not dealt with. Spent over 6 hours on the phone the other day and 5 different people all for nothing to get done and here we are almost a month in. These guys don't care about you or your money. STAY AWAY.
I used to like CI
I used to like CI. B. C when I first opened app the app and my bank account? And now since I got this pending stuff like lyft and temu and they screwed me on after pay. I am getting n s f because they're saying that I haven't paid my payments, and I have so that screwed me. So this new app that you guys have on pending, is literally screwing up all my payments going through. And if anybody else is going through this, it takes up to 5-10 days i am so p***** off because this is not right. I'm about to leave CI. BC if this is not fixed, I would like a manager to physically call me or email me cause this is not right. The n s apps are more expensive than my own monthly plan
The most trash bank I've ever had in my…
The most trash bank I've ever had in my life the card won't work overseas anymore and they don't know when it won't fix.
Moving funds between accounts never works only when I call in to complain and it's been like this for months. Dog you know what bank go with TD if youre in Canada.
the worst customer service ever
the worst customer service ever, I have been online for 45 mins and transferred 5 times to different departments. Not one person speaks proper English nor do they have any idea on how to deal with people in a nice manner. There demeanor towards situation's are poor at best. I recieved a letter three weeks ago saying my auto loan account was hacked in May and July with all my information stolen. so how does this happen twice and than notify me 42 to 4 months later that this happened with no explanation either. I've had to change my cards 3 times and monitor my accounts diligently, we are in the process of moving all investments and business and personal accounts to another bank. this is appalling behavior for a bank to have such poor representees for a bank of this caliber. i would not recommend this bank to my worst enemy. I'm still on hold after asking to talk to a supervisor so that s 54 mins now since I've made the phone call, with nothing sorted and no answers to my questions. this bank should be put under an audit to see how badly its managed and how poorly its representative's treat there clients. I've never been so disgusted by a banks lack of attention to a clients concerns.
0 Star if there was option.

Called for canceling one of my visa credit card.
Currently I am waiting for them to answer over 53 minutes now and i am still waiting at this moment.
I used CIBC for 19 years and this is unforgettable experience. What an absolute terrible customer service.
Absolute shambles of a customer care…
Absolute shambles of a customer care team. They don't give a crap about getting things right or being honest about mistakes. Blaming each other like children and then transferring to other departments to fix issues.
This is embarrassing. They need to be fined for such horrible services
CIBC disappoints again…
Could not connect online and agent could not help. Wanted us to go to the bank and fix it there. What's the point of having an online presence/site if I have to go to the bank to resolve?
By the way CIBC had just sent an email warning about AI scams and the agent asked for my PIN
Absolute worst bank of all time!!
Absolute worst bank of all time!!! I had a small balance of less than a grand on a credit card with them, I told my main branch I was travelling to Vietnam for a year. I signed a paper to take the minimum payment from my account each month. When I arrived to Vietnam I couldn't access my account via online portal- No Canadian number. I tried 10 times with the rudest and inept customer service people to see what was happening in my account over that year. No emails or warnings. They lost the ppaperwork to take the monthly min. payment- thereby having to "force" into my account to make the payments 3 times!!! This trashed my credit rating to hell!!! I spent many many hours and hundreds of dollars trying to access my account over the year I was gone. I get back to Canada, and I was treated with snarky indifference- credit rating trashed and the money was in the account the whole time. WARNING there bank app won't work with out a Canadian phone number attached. Horrible Experience with CIBC!!! Now it will take years to get my credit rating back up!!!
Was on the phone for 2 hours and 11…
Was on the phone for 2 hours and 11 minutes, waiting to cancel a credit card with an annual fee, when someone finally picked up, they spoke for 1 second and then went silent, I kept shouting and was hung up on in 30 seconds. I immediately called back and was put on the same hold again. The wait time is already unacceptable but to be hung up on with zero response is simply ridiculous. And you can't even cancel the card any other way.
I went to pay my HST
I went to pay my HST, I scanned by debit card, gave the teller my hst payment statement with my name on it, and the amount to be paid filled in, that was not enough so I showed my credit card and drivers license and that still was not enough. The teller then called the CIBC fraud line to call my cell phone to make sure who I was. with a code they had sent me to read off my phone to her, then all was okay....I know there is fraud and it's bad, but how much ID is required???
Unprofessional runaround and lying
This bank lacks transparency and does not follow through on its promises. I no longer find them trustworthy.
Call centre staff are polite, but the actual resolution process is incredibly frustrating. While the agents are nice, nobody actually resolves the issue. I was put on hold for an hour, talked briefly and only to be told to call back in a couple of days. I followed instructions and called back, only to be told the exact same thing. This happened three separate times.
Finally, I requested a supervisor. She promised to take action and call me back the next day so I wouldn't have to wait on hold for another hour. She never called. I had to call a fourth time myself to chase them down.
DO NOT USE THIS CARD
DO NOT USE THIS CARD! You will have transactions cancelled even after calling them. Then you will wait on hold for an hour. I called them three times in one day and advised them I was travelling. Still declined transactions. VERY UNRELIABLE
Dismissive customer service agent
My online banking access was restricted, and I had to call customer service to resolve the issue. I was placed on hold for over an hour before finally speaking with an agent named Kyle.
Kyle was extremely rude and showed no empathy or understanding of my situation. He repeatedly interrupted me while I was speaking and even raised his voice. At no point did he apologize for the inconvenience or frustration I had experienced.
After waiting over an hour just to receive assistance with my banking access, I expected to be treated with basic courtesy and professionalism. Instead, I was left feeling extremely disrespected and dismissed.
This was a very disappointing customer service experience, and it has made me seriously reconsider continuing to bank with CIBC.
Ossington and Dundas terrible customer service
Location, Ossington and Dundas. Poor customer service skills. Cold disrespectful treatment. Used to be warming nice friendly environment. Not sure what changed in their company culture. I am very unhappy with the treatment received
UNBELIEVABLE
I agree with everybody else. I'm almost regretting moving all my stuff from RBC to CIBC because I can never get through, and sometimes you hold for an hour, somebody comes on, then hangs up. I can't log on to my online account, so I can't get assistance with that. My tap stopped working and my wallet on my phone. I have sent new deposit information from the app to CRA to change banking informations, which only takes one or two days. It's been a week. I'm not feeling good about the transition right now, that's for sure.
For making 3 trillion dollars profit…
For making 3 trillion dollars profit (after expenses paid) in the last 4 months I should not have to wait 2 hours for a customer service. The "higher than normal call volume" message is all I hear every time I need to call for the last 15 years
Horrible service on line
Think real hard about this it started September 28 when 5....yes 5 transactions went through my account. I contacted the bank and because I had had a "relationship" with these organizations in the past that I first had to contact the indidvidual places and then give them 5 days to respond. Well I did my duty and popped off an email to them and of course it bounced and I wasnt about to call China, I contacted the bank again and was told that it would take 15 days until they started the investigation going ...so again I waited. So earlier this week I called the bank once again. Well now it seems that it is going to take 10 days to finish the investigation. That my friends brings it to 1 month that I have been fighting to get my 270.00 back. It seems that no matter what I do I will not see that money. Thank you CIBC whom I have dealt with for years for letting a senior go without any extra grocery and bill paying money.
20+ year customer here
20+ year customer here. Worst bank by a long shot. I got my debit card stolen and there were fraudulent purchases and they don't even cancel the card or notice. They have a policy of 10 business days for investigation once you make a fraud claim to get refunded and its been over 15 and no contact or emails even though they say they contacted me. I keep calling and they just give the runaround. Avoid this bank all together.
