Review of Wise

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Consistently fast and reliable for personal accounts.

I usually leave reviews when things are not going well, but to give some firms a fair run, its necessary to say that wise are consistently fast and easy to use.

The only negative thing is for business users this is not a good platform they are risk adverse and will not for example deal with many categories even selling telecom products not allowed,
4 out of 5. Business Experience.
5 out 5 personal. Experience I will leave 5 stars/

Very Poor Overall - risk assess wisely should you wish to use them.

Overall not a great experience using this firm.
See my prior issues with their platform.

Today.

1) Logged in again only to be asked for a selfie, had to wait only a short time for verification.

2) N26 test transaction of SEPA instant payments, sent a 500 euro instant transfer to myself, and after over half hour still not arrived. I have come back to edit the post and write the SEPA instant payment arrived eventually after 1 hour had passed.

Please note benchmarked against two other accounts, and they took seconds, from revolut and wise.

3) Asked for support.
Outside Opening Hours, so no support available.

Consistent with my experience, the only way to get support is to be logged in when and if agents are available.

I am repeatedly disappointed by the service and unhelpful responses, my N26. They are misleading and defensive.

-----> Overall thoughts about login and their security systems

N26: A Digital Banking Nightmare Built on Broken Code and Broken Promises

N26 markets itself as the future of flexible, feature-rich banking. The reality? It is a fragile, glitch-ridden trap that abandons customers the moment they need support the most.

The "Impossible Loop" That Locks You Out The system is so unstable it generates its own errors. Here is the reality of using this "neo-bank":

One Wrong Move, Total Lockout: Enter a password incorrectly once? The system immediately triggers a 24-hour "visual ID" verification process.

Account Frozen: During this self-imposed lockdown, your account is blocked. You cannot check your balance. You cannot access an ATM. If you need cash to catch a bus or pay for an emergency, you are stranded.

The False Security: The system claims to "allow automation to verify," but this is a bureaucratic black hole. You are held hostage by your own backend errors, completely outside your control.

Support That Doesn't Exist This is where the service completely collapses.

Support is App-Only: If your app is locked, you have no support. There is no phone number, no email, no physical office. You are screaming into a void.

The Catch-22: They demand you upgrade to a "Value Added Service" (VAS) for better access, and unlock a phone number, yet you cannot access the support portal to even attempt the upgrade if you are already locked out. It is a crazy, indefensible loop.

Generic Responses: When you do manage to get a reply, it is a copy-paste script that ignores the severity of the technical failure.

Not Regulation, Just Incompetence N26 hides behind EU regulations to justify blocking accounts, claiming these are security necessities.

This is a lie.
These locks are not regulatory compliance; they are symptoms of a poor Backend Support System (BSS).

The system is so leaky and glitchy that it sends "potential issue" emails demanding password changes more than once a month, despite no actual threat.

This is not security; it is technical negligence.

A Call to Action To N26’s developers: You are wrecking your own house.

Your code is creating errors that lock paying customers out of their own money.

To EU Regulators: Investigate this immediately.

Customers are being blocked not by law, but by erroneous, unproficient systems.

The Bottom Line: If you value easy access to your money, do not use N26. This is not a bank; it is a high-risk gamble on whether their system will let you withdraw your own cash today.

Tests failed, 500euro instant payment floating around in the air for one hour compared to seconds by their competitors, and no support until 7am, should I wish to ask about why it went wrong with them only whilst on the go using a cell phone, I have no idea but my reviews are genuine.

I will give 2 stars as it sort of worked just pretty ropey as expected at least that is consistent.

Hello David.

We know it's hard to have your account blocked, and please know these decisions are only made after careful consideration.

In accordance with European banking regulations, N26 must carry out regular routine compliance checks on user accounts. As a regulated institution, we are obliged to do this to ensure our user accounts are kept safe and secure. Sometimes, in order to meet those requirements we may need to freeze an account or a specific transaction.

Please check the following link for more details: https://support.n26.com/en-es/account-and-personal-details/miscellaneous/limited-access-account-blocked-closed-contact-n26

Thanks for your understanding.

Insecure banking system

Insecure banking system, I've had it three months, I haven't transferred ingress to them, I have so far made one transaction the deposit to open the account,

Every few weeks they send an email saying my account has been compromised and force a password reset, for an unused account that's scary and indicates a back end issue / lack of security.

The services look good but security seems lacklustre. The fact that they might be compromised so frequently (about 5 times in three months) isn't reassuring,

Packet delivery simple enough address easy road side access and I work from home, if I am out deliver to the neighbours either side.

GLS could not manage this, they claim, I was absent and so was the neighbours - as a business owner GLS will cost you money and damage your reputation, avoid them.

My neighbours : a post office, and the local town hall / tourist information centre.

Customer not present is too common in the group reviews.

My experience of decathlon stores good, (all), but online experience is mixed and detracts from the experience. Customer not present seems to be a common scapegoat and it's wrong that the onus is placed on the destinee to prove they were in, it should be logistics prove attempt to deliver was made.

When addressing this, the decathlon options for full refund are present but take time, and whilst I will get money back decathlon loses a small amount in fees and we all lose in time.

Partnering with a logistics firm that is not providing proof of end point delivery or failed delivery such as GLS for delivery opens decathlon up to logistics transaction skim using customer present excuse,

I have got this documented with two strikes against me not being present when CCTV and other information, parallel deliveries being accepted to show this claim of my absence and their presence to be untrue.

This happened in Spain, may I suggest that decathlon look into feedback that concern logistics this seems to be a large scale issue for the group in general,

UK have responded diligently I hope this helps. 3* overall.

Can't leave zero stars unfortunately.

So my package which was supposed to be delivered yesterday suffered an incident which then led to it being delayed until today and as alternative I addresses I of course say use my neighbours which is post office and town hall, they know me, and of course what happens today they write...

Delivery Destinee and alternatives - absent. I guess they live in cloud cuckoo land - liars.

I wonder if the driver took a photograph to show no one was around, it would be interesting to see if he/she/it made it to the correct town. For the benefit of doubt they might even manage by 3rd attempt, in which case they earn the 1 star.

Misleading AI bot and poor setup for end users changing addresses

Misleading AI bot, secure messages create more issues than is necessary.

Biometrics not supported on my device, were not needed initially but are to change address, which can only be done on the app,

When you follow prompts with AI, unless you explicitly say agent, it makes you run around in circles.

The support doesn't show that hours of chat are limited, it implies you can reach 24*7

The secure messages which require file uploads from scans and such are from mobile app only, which makes the process arduous, you have to send to phone which many people will not manage, then upload from phone to app.

The data requested to change address, and the information is not inline with Spain's systems and setup which makes it even crazier.

The agent responded in 7 minutes which is good, but explicitly said would send an email which of course I received but instead of being able to work from email, the agent meant a secure in app message.

That is also misleading.

The app is slightly heavy on resources and chat is poor, with the bot, that's it so far.

The contact form - leave us a message is non functional, so the entire process is not smooth and leaves you irritated.

This can be so much better.

Hey David,

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We appreciate you explaining the specific issues you encountered.

Let us clarify a few things that might help:

Biometrics and Address Changes: You can actually enable or disable biometrics within your app settings. Once adjusted, you'll be able to update your address using your Confirmation PIN instead.

Getting in Touch: You're right that our support is available 24/7 through the chatbot. If you'd prefer to speak with a human specialist, we're here every day from 07:00–23:00 (including Sundays and bank holidays).

Secure Messages: We'll always communicate with you via in app messages, for security reasons. When we send you a secure message in the app, you'll receive an email alert. Please note, you can actually access and reply to these messages from both the app and the web app. This means you can upload documents directly from your computer rather than your phone.

Spain Address Requirements: If you're having trouble with this, our team can help guide you through the specific requirements.

We'll be passing your feedback on to our product team.

Highly Unreliable - depends on post code - Spain

When I go to order something and see this companies name it puts me off, I instantly feel deflated, where I live the drivers don't like to attend, so they make fraudulent entries in the system, customer not home, make a mobile ring once and switch off. This is a shared experience with other residents.

Customer service is reasonable, but they are damaging my reputation and standing when I order products to my home, I work from home, live next to a post office and town hall, but the place is remote, so drivers play the system to collect several packages, in one hit, which means some get returned to origin.

Fraud, is common.

Unsuitable account and firm doesn't follow their own terms.

This firm, wants to charge me to downgrade account on day one!

but lets review...
If I wanted their account and agreed to their terms, which I cannot, and would not, as its not permitted, its unsuitable, after reading their terms which give 14 days cooling off and 30 days free they don't wish to apply that either.

Since they cannot follow their own terms don't even open an account with them.

"The Smart account carries a monthly fee of £12.50, this was outlined in the account terms and conditions provided at the time of migration"

The terms and conditions also outline what can and cannot be done, and it is clear I am 100% not eligible for the account in the first place, had this firm bothered with due diligence which it hasn't it would have soon realised I was in process of shutting down the dormant cardone account and spend 365 days of the year outside the United Kingdom

I wonder what the FCA will say?

You email me and say install the app or call you, but you never called me or asked me, you just assumed and continue to do so.

Hi David,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback!

We’re sorry to hear about your concerns. Where an account has been migrated from Card One Money, it may have been automatically transferred to our Smart account as part of the transition process. The Smart account carries a monthly fee of £12.50, this was outlined in the account terms and conditions provided at the time of migration.

If you feel that the Smart account is not suitable for your needs, you’re absolutely welcome to downgrade to our Everyday Account on the app. Following the account structure, the Smart account fee is applied before a downgrade can be completed.

We want to reassure customers that our 14-day cooling off period and any applicable introductory offers are applied in accordance with the eligibility criteria. The app is incredibly poor, and previous working functionality is disabled, Support links are painful and as example to gain support for an authentication issue one would need to authenticate which is illogical.

The sharing of data is another issue, uphold share with 3rd parties.

The app is expensive, lots of small charges are applied.

This is a gimmick for newbies, and should be avoided.

Reasonable product but bad customer experience with auto renewals.

I have moved my rating from 1 star to 3 stars.
It took a while, some emails were sent and via my payment provider correspondence was fine, and everything refunded. It should not have happened and it took a bit longer than expected.

The product isn't to bad to be honest, and I do like it, it is a pity the database wasn't installed in a different format, as I would like to use the dualsafe password vault with linux too.

I cannot in all honesty with the vendors response and full refund, say that I like the product and keep the review at 1 star, I will set it a 3 stars and advise caution. (3.5 would suit me fine)

Human process errors, resulted in poor support

Below this is my original comments,
I received an apology today and a good answer from mailjet. I will give them a go with a different project, the reasons given are OK and likely warrant some modifications to process.

Customer care is super important, and yeah in fairness people can make mistakes and I too can be frustrated. I've nudged the rating up to 3*.

--------------------------------------------------
I terminated the account, onboarding issue went around in circles from 2nd November until 15th November, due to incompetent ticket handling and lack of technical knowledge by their staff.

Ironically they kept telling me my domain was not reachable, but by logical deduction, I figured the issue was related to reverse DNS lookup, ptr, undocumented by them.

I took that issue to cloudflare automation for confirmation, and 20 seconds later, everything was fine.

I went on to interlink a different TLD domain and asked this to be used instead, but despite that they didn't validate the account and parked the ticket.

I provided this info to sinch but they ignored it and today I ditched them for mailtrap.

Validation started on the 2nd November, Escalation and requests for help, were ignored, and their team muddled information,

From the start I informed them this was for transactional purposes. but an Indian chap, asking about what my intent was for the future, to provide as much detail as possible.

Logically, I told them initially that this would be case for first few months, then I would consider marketing, I also told them I would trial this using a bulk run on personal email, from people that gave me express permission in person for updates. But their staff misinterpreted this too.

At no point did they try to fix or resolve the issue, or even read what I wrote, instead they arrogantly insisted that my domains weren't reachable,

however the actual root cause was the TLD registry has an archaic setup and specifically isn't supported by many providers including cloudflare,
(who did point out why and were able to confirm my suspicions)

On the 12th November, requested escalation and support and was assured my information had been passed to the relevant team.

I logged in Saturday 15th morning and found the ticket parked. I re-opened it and got an email saying my issue wasn't forgotten and would be dealt with soon,

I decided then I would give them 12hours, and inbetween tested and validated using a non Sinch competitor, this was easy, took minutes, and all is now working.

I logged back into my account just before editing this review, 16/11 and find no change or notes on the ticket.

I then removed all data and terminated the account.
The problem I have here is this would have worked very quickly had I used a common TLD, and then this would have locked me into their system, as naturally I would have been perfect for upgrade and upsell.

Here is why I am advising people to avoid this firm,
should I have run into tiny technical issues their customer support are absolutely terrible, and their first line technical knowledge is equally bad.

The ticket agent came across as very passive aggressive and after 2 weeks without any meaningful progress, I wasn't prepared to wait longer.

I terminated the account and don't recommend this firm, they have a poor technical understanding, they don't know very much about GDPR, they don't have competent support, and their process ask for prospective development detail which made a simple transactional sign up test into a barrage of emails and discussing marketing which was irrelevant, all the time missing the point that their system and validation was incorrect and poorly documented.

Onboarding errors in the setup process…

This company makes it too difficult to setup accounts
for new greenfield companies and asks questions that are beyond the scope of answering.

Simply trying to validate a domain, and the support is asking how many emails would be sent,
an answer of low in the 100's is not suitable.

Errors in the setup process forced me to look elsewhere.

---- edit original above ---
today is the 16th November, and this edit is just to counter the mailjet response,
no issue with the questions asked but none were relevant to what I was setting up for and that was pure transactional testing, which if that had worked I would have upgraded and went onto marketing,

All of this and more including technical errors on their side was provided but muddled.

---------------
edited further, 16/11
Theo responded professionally,
I can understand that errors occurred and I don't wish to be too savage in the review because I never managed to get boarded let alone into production.

The response has restored some confidence and I will review my use case in related projects. I will look into this further and speak with my peers on the topic.
