On 7 Jul (with definitions from 2 Jul) -- Intego VirusBarrier quarantined 3 PDF files created in 2023 using macOS Notes. It said the files contained "trojan TR/PDF.Agent". I was fairly confident it was a false positive, but I decided to select Repair All. It proceeded quietly. I was curious if the repair made the files unusable.

Upon looking for the repaired files (in their original location), I was shocked they were gone -- DELETED.

I immediately contacted Customer Support, and I was shocked even further. In their opinion, this was correct behaviour: delete PDFs, provide no dialog whether deletion was acceptable, provide no logging to state the files were deleted (logs just said Repaired).

Here are a few "enlightening" statements from Customer Support:

- PDFs are considered office documents. [Despite being created with macOS Notes.]

- No repair attempt was made because the VirusBarrier AVSDK 10.9.63 and later is expected to automatically delete these files. [No warning -- just delete, don't log, and don't inform the user.]

- VirusBarrier deletes these files. [OMG!!]

As I hunt for a replacement to Intego, I realise the review sites maybe are not real but paid advertising/click bait to earn the website some money.

Patch sends out timely, well-packaged plants that exceed the quality of those in my nearby garden centre and Waitros. They have been my go-to supplier for years and years.

I have used H&R Block Expat for the past 15 years, and H&R Block before that. Until this year, I had been satisfied with the service.

The main issue was their website. It failed to notify me of a pending email, and it still appears unreliable. There was a problem submitting my return on 10 April, but I was unaware of it because I never received any notification.

On 15 April, when I noticed the tax payment had not been withdrawn from my account, I logged in to investigate and only then discovered the message from H&R Block.

I got the issue corrected was assured my return would still be filed on 15 April. It is now 20 April, and the return still has not been filed.

I managed to find a customer service phone number online. It was not readily available. I see why, as it was absolutely useless. The best they could do was email my tax advisor, which I had already been doing each day.

After 15 years as a customer, this experience has been disappointing. Between the unreliable website, unnecessary stress, and late filing — I see little justification for paying more than $700 for this service again next year.

My six-month experience with Match UK was frustrating and unproductive. Despite having a fully completed profile with multiple photos and a detailed description, I had only one brief, unproductive conversation, and no replies to any of my messages. Not a single woman initiated contact during the entire time.

As the months passed, I became quite adept at spotting fraudulent profiles. Thankfully, many of these scams were easy to identify, and I took some satisfaction in reporting them. I didn’t block them, but instead reported them and clicked Like. This way I could monitor Match’s removal of the profile. On average, I estimate I reported around 50 fake profiles per day, and these are just those claiming to be from the London area. If that’s any indication, the issue is widespread across the UK.

Unfortunately, it seems Match does little to prevent these profiles from being created in the first place. Whether due to oversight or design, this raises concerns. It’s hard not to wonder if the high number of fake accounts benefits their business model by keeping users engaged (and paying) longer.

It’s also worth noting that Match UK is part of the larger American-based Match Group, which owns many of the major dating platforms. So even if you try to switch services, you may find yourself still under the same umbrella, often with similar results.

Overall, I found Match UK to be a disappointing and hollow experience. It felt more like a waste of time and money than a genuine platform for connection.

It seems many of you have problems getting in contact with Match UK help. Thankfully this is one area where I can give the platform a "plus" and hopefully Trustpilot will allow me to share it with you. Customer Care is at customercare AT help DOT match DOT co DOT uk. They have been helpful at removing fraudulent profiles that the 3-dot method online fail to take down.

FYSA, in almost 6 months of my paid subscription (with all the extra bells and whistles), I have not had a single conversation with a legitimate person. I denote legitimate, because I have countless contacts with scammers.

It amazes me that Match UK provide nearly no initial checks to prevent the creation of these fraudulent accounts. Either Match is behind these fraudulent account and/or they find it helpful to their profits, e.g., keeping you believing there is hope and a vast pool of choices.

Save you time, save your money, save your mental health -- steer clear of Match UK (as well as all the other sites, as they are all owned by this same monopolistic company called Match Group).

Match UK is an absolute, useless site. It is utterly insane the volume of fraudulent profiles I report and are removed on a daily basis. I am only looking in the London area, so across the site they would be astronomical.

This fraud even has infected the Match UK reviews. It is disgusting to read the fraudulent 5-star reviews from first time reviewers. Please look at the 1-star reviews for a true view of Match UK.

There is a Trustpilot review from July 2025 that states "

Please don't get sucked into using Match UK. Sadly, Match Group owns all the "popular" dating websites you have heard of (such as Tinder, Plenty of Fish, OKCupid, etc.).

All Match Group's site suffer from these problems, so you cannot escape selecting one over another.

If your lonely heart still has you joining one of the Match Group sites, then please come back here and add your honest negative review. If I cannot protect you, may you and I can protect someone else from being scammed.

I've been using Intego on my Macs for many, many years and it's been consistently reliable and easy to use. It feels better than the others that I have used in the past and occasionally try.

Their customer service is also quick at responding and helpful. (I had a subscription question vs technical.)

I cannot recommend Match for meeting that someone special.

Match Group owns nearly ever dating website you know suck as Match Uk, OKCupid, Plenty of Fish, Tinder, etc. So, going to one or the other will not change your experience.

The UK is more than happy to cripple Apple's data privacy features, but there is no action against this American company stealing our money with this scammy "dating service".

If you were walking down the street and had your mobile stolen, how would you feel? Well, subscribing to Match UK is a similar feeling, but you get to feel you money stolen day-after-day, month-after-month on this site that pretends to be helping you find love.

Match is not in business to help you find that special someone. They are in business to make money and pay shareholders a dividend.

Match achieves this scam by keeping you on the platform as long as possible, making the free version useless, upselling features, and presenting you with an endless supply of profiles (most of which are fake).

Match is actually hindering your chances in meeting someone. Your special someone is not on Match but in the real world: at the coffee shop, sitting next to you on the Tube, in the queue with you, or a friend of your friend.

Match is a scam-ridden mess, overrun with fake profiles.

When a profile is flagged with no supporting details, Match removes it. Clearly, they have a removal algorithm that works that can detect the same issues I am seeing. So, why don't they use their algorithm at the point of profile creation? Is Match complicit in these fake profiles?

It was delivered to the UK quickly from Europe, without any additional customs or duty. It was very well packaged in eco-friendly packaging.

I ordered the Oakywood MagSafe Puck, which was later sent to my recycling bin as it was no use for me. After I had received my order, I did contact Customer Support about how to use the Oakywood MagSafe Puck. Customer Support were very nice and responsive. Understand the puck's use before clicking on the option when ordering.

The MagSafe iPhone Stand is large enough to hide my coiled extra MagSafe cable. I only have a few centimeters between the mains and the stand.

I am using the Apple MagSafe adapter, which I wished came in an all black version.

Depending on how you remove your iPhone, either the metal base (attached to the wood) or the MagSafe puck can come off with the phone. This started to annoy me, so I made two minor adjustments: (a) I added a piece of black electrical tape to the back to hold the metal base in place, and (b) I applied a piece of strong double-sided carpet tape on top of the existing adhesive pad to ensure the MagSafe puck stays secure. This will, of course, make the Apple MagSafe inconvenient to take on a trip or non-stand use.

I would love to see a similar version (wood with heavy metal base) like the Smartphone Stand (OakyBlocks), but allowing one to feed a USB-C or Lightning cable through it.

With a simple AI evaluation of a profile's "My description" section -- AI had no problem confirming my suspicion that the profile was fraudulent.

I tried to paste the "My description" here as an example, but Trustpilot flagged my review as being fraudulent. LOL. So, Trustpilot security measures can easily detect something is not right. Why can Match not? I suspect fraudulent profiles benefit there bottom dollar (yes Match Group is an American company).

4. Odd use of terms:

• “Write letters online” is an outdated phrase — most real users say “messages” or “texts.” The use of “letter” in digital dating profiles is often a tell of Eastern European or scam-affiliated networks using old romance-site language.

Language Origin Analysis:

• The profile is not written in natural American or British English.

• It appears to be written by someone using non-native English, likely from Eastern Europe or Central Asia, possibly run through machine translation or heavily edited.

• Common tell-tale signs: poor article usage (“the manager of IT company”), incorrect verb agreement, and formal phrasing (“personal dialogue”).

Verdict:

This profile is highly likely to be fraudulent.

Match is a complete scam, packed with dead profiles and zero genuine dating opportunities. I would also be highly suspicious of any positive reviews.

Terrible. Definitely a waste of money.

I placed a Prime order with next-day delivery. Throughout the day, the delivery window kept shifting. The final update listed delivery by 8pm — but after, the delivery estimate suddenly changed to a delivery date ONE WEEK later.

When I attempted to contact customer support chat, it told me I had to message the third-party seller directly.

I did eventually get through to Amazon Customer Service, but they didn’t resolve the issue. I was told I must wait until one day after this new week later delivery date before I could attempt to get a refund.

Now, I’m left in limbo for a week. The product might arrive — or it might not. I’m hesitant to reorder from another supplier, as it may be difficult to return this delayed item if it does show up.

After reading the seller reviews (not the product reviews), I noticed this bait-and-switch tactic has been used on many other customers as well.

Be careful of third-party sellers and read their reviews (along with the product reviews). I have learned my lesson.
