Wouldn't allow me to return 5L of oil…

Wouldn't allow me to return 5L of oil which I'd bought 20 minutes earlier but wanted to swap out and buy 2L. I had a receipt. It took forever to queue up, twice, to pay and to attempt my return. Refused a return because I wouldn't provide a plethora of marketable personal details because I paid by card. Staff unhelpful. Store policy is a joke.

Avoid this place like the plague - especially the one at Enfield Retail Park.

Bait and switch. £75 becomes £100 p/m

Bait and switch. The day prior to getting my car I was quoted around £75 a month on Admiral Essential. The following day, I went to get my car and decided to get the insurance then and there (because why insure something you might not buy and be hit with cancellation fees?). Unfortunately, Admiral Essential was no longer to be found and regular ol' Admiral cover was left for me £101.45 for a very well maintained 18 year old Corsa where the policy exceeds the value of the damn car! Thanks Admiral!

I tried multiple times to contact Admiral but I got nothing. No help. I have less than a week to cancel my policy and look elsewherw.

Their website is a bit naff too. The dashboard doesn't contain enough information so you're instead reading through the official documentation (PDFs) instead.

For just under £102 a month, I get car insurance with a £500 excess and windscreen cover lol. The car value is around £1150. Jokers.

There's no easy way to switch policy with Admiral either. Instead you have to dish our details to a bunch of third parties to draw quotes from elsewhere (including from Admiral) just to see other quotes from Admiral's different tierwd services.

Look elsewhere.

Dodgy cars, dishonest car traders and fake reviews...

It is relatively cheap to put ads on Autotrader so it is filled with dodgy low-end dealers that operate on all other platforms. Oftentimes there's no described vehicle history, sometimes there's AI imagery used and reviews for traders are very sceptical.

Autotrader is not a reliable place to go. I honestly cannot fathom how it has so many positive reviews. I know, indirectly, some of those who operate at the top of Trustpilot and how they operate their other businesses. It wouldn't at all surprise me if Trustpilot were accepting money from other companies or allowing those companies to use AI for fake reviews.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a Trustpilot review.

We appreciate that transparency is important when buying a vehicle. Advert content is provided by individual sellers, and while we have measures in place to identify misleading activity, the level of detail can vary between listings.

Autotrader does not influence Trustpilot reviews. Trustpilot operates independently and has its own processes for identifying reviews that breach its guidelines.

We value feedback such as this as we continue to improve the experience for consumers.

If you have concerns about a specific review, we would encourage you to raise these directly with our Customer Experience Team on 0345 111 0003 or via email at customerexperience@autotrader.co.uk.

Review of Greater Anglia

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This company is the worst. Greed. Greed. Greed.

This company is the worst.

They change the routes on their trains, presumably because they used AI since nobody working there is smart enough, yet the output from this is evidently still stupid. A consecutive number of London Liverpool Street trains and followed by a Stratford train that now skips stations. Excellent idea! I pay almost £200 a month for the luxury of their stupidity.

On top of this, I pay an additional £50 per month going to Tottenham Hale. Well, I did, but despite the BIG FREEZE, Greater Anglia have increased the return ticket price from my station to Tottenham Hale (and back) from £12.50 to £16.70. Thieves.

The services get worse, the delays still ample, the fare dodgers are still rife, they skip services at my station so I pay the same to have to get more trains, and now on the weekend they are fleecing me when I want to travel to do things for myself.

I think this company, state owned, is a disgrace I think that all of the greedy staff within it are absolute filth.

They change train timetables without giving any notice.

Expensive. Delays. Delay Repay is a pain. Greater Anglia changed the London 6:48 train schedule without providing any prior information as to why, and now instead of getting to work via 2 trains and in under an hour I now need 3 trains and it takes me about 90 minutes. Before Easter the 6.48 was to Stratford, which has now been replaced with a London Liverpool service. Again no information or prior warning was given about these changes.

Staff I asked were unaware of the changes and even suggested making a complaint.

Asks for and makes you sign away…

Asks for and makes you sign away personal details and forces you to accept data use before even showing you available products. The ONLY way I could see what packages they had available (and none were suitable for me) was to agree to handing over my data, which, despite any nonsense surrounding GDPR, will be dished out or marketed. Thanks RED, the thieves of driving schools. Avoid these people. RED has awful driving packages, terrible prices and fishes for data.

I had similar data theft from AnyVan which prompted a review, which they tried to have taken down on here multiple times but TrustPilot eventually agreed it was a negative experience I had received. Same here. So here's your one, RED.

The era of handing over data before knowing absolutely anything about the product needs to end. I suspect one day it will.

I am really disappointed with this company.

Review of Kelly Group

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Mohammed you're a liar. Broadband not installed. Another visit needed in a month. No broadband for 9 and a half weeks.

Mohammed you're a liar. A pleasant liar, but a liar nonetheless.

I keep having to take time off of work for companies like Vodafone, Kelly, amongst many others. I keep having to chase up endless e-mails and phone calls, use up my free time, schedule engineer visits and waste my ANNUAL LEAVE to babysit incompetent people to install services in a flat I am only in for a year and yet... here we are at another issue.

I waited 6 weeks for Vodafone Fibre Optic Broadband to be installed. 6 weeks! Absolutely mental. The day comes and Mo comes to install things. I told him my concerns about placement because the walls are brick. I said I'd like it in the living room where the laptop is, but he said the fibre optic has to meet at the front because of difficult for access. I live on a second floor flat, the only part of my flat that is ground level is the stairs to the door. It's a maisonette.

I said do what you think is best I'm only here for a year. No point in arguing because the man wants the easiest job, clearly. He installs it in my bedroom. Bearing in mind there's a solid 2ft concrete wall between the router, placed on the far side of the bedroom, and my laptop, on the other side of said concrete wall in the adjacent room. After less than an hour, all was done.

I had issues logging into Vodafone so I called up about that and got a bizarre response about the service needing to be live first. This has nothing to do with Kelly but in the end one of the support staff said the engineer had left a note saying it hadn't been finished. Interesting. I was then transferred and told that Kelly/Openreach would have to visit again tomorrow to finish the job. I was gobsmacked. Should I just quit my job for these morons? I am so angry!

I said no. I wanted to leave Vodafone but was dissuaded. I now have to wait until Feb 9th for something I signed up for on 5th DECEMBER 2025! I haven't yet received a god damn thing.

And Mo... hours after the work was completed I received a text saying that you were due to arrive. That's sus considering you had said the work was done and it could take up to 24 hours. You lied. You hadn't finished the job and now somebody else has to finish it and I have to lose yet more of my holiday. I do not want you present to finish the work, another one the so-called engineers can visit to fix it.

The accelerated battery wear on my phone will also be noted. As I'm having to charge my phone 3x a day for 3 months using it as a dedicated modem because of the incompetence of so many people - I expect either Vodafone or Kelly to pick up on the tab on that as well.

No broadband for 9 and a half weeks!

Edit: I have just called up Vodafone and cancelled my broadband.

Well done Kelly Group. You are incompetent.

Review of Vodafone UK

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I have waited 6 weeks for installation… (almost 10 if I waited for the engineer)

I have waited 6 weeks for installation and frankly that is already unacceptable. The Engineer finally arrived and put the box in a stupid place because it was easiest, despite my protests. It is now in the bedroom, away from the living room directly on the opposite side of a room further from a very thick concrete wall. Excellent!

I can't even test my broadband because it isn't even live yet and while I appreciate it may take up to 24 hours, I still cannot login on the My Vodafone app or the Vodafone website. It just throws up so many errors. And I'm not the only one who keeps receiving these problems. Vodafone and errors are synonymous.

I can't wait to get to try my 150Mbps / 30 mbps speed, which will likely run at a crawl and with horrendous packet loss because of the massive barrier the engineer put it behind.

Not to worry though... I fully expect a booster free of charge... although that will have to go behind the oddly placed plug socket right behind a radiator and the only one at a reflective point that goes between the two doors and will provide reception to the living room.

Bravo Vodafone. Bravo Kelly Communications. Bravo Openreach.

If it wasn't for Virgin Media's frankly appallingly skewed down/up ratios I'd have gone back to them. Hell, I have had better experience with NowTV on copper cables.

I warned the 'engineer' as well.

Go to hell Vodafone. You were always a naff and overpriced mobile company, and now you're failing in broadband too.

I will tell you now, the absolute ONLY reason I picked Vodafone over anybody else, and trust me when I say they were nowhere near my first choice, is because of the WiFi 6E router, while others are still sending out rebranded WiFi 5 trash. We'll see however how it copes with concrete.

Never though I'd end up with a wireless router right next to my pillow... cheers guys!

Edit: Vodafone fail to tell you that you cannot access anything account related until your broadband goes live. When I pointed out to support that none of this made sense since you could download the Vodafone app and register an account, she said she would pass the feedback along. She later said that Openreach had the job open and that it is still ongoing. I said the work was completed like 4 hours ago. She said she would put me on hold and contact them. 3-4 minutes later she hung up.

Avoid this company. 99% of the reviews here are bots. Vodafone pays Trustpilot.

EDIT #2:

OMGGGGGGGGGGGG!!! After soooo much bank and forth I was told by Vodafone 'sorry but it hasn't been completed'. He said the earliest is tomorrow or February 9th!

I said to the man, I HAVE JUST TAKEN MORE TIME OFF OF WORK!!! I CANNOT KEEP TAKING TIME OFF OF WORK FOR ENGINEERS! MY EMPLOYER IS ALREADY GETTING ANNOYED AT MY ABSENCE!!! I NOW HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL FEBRUARY 9TH FOR ACTIVATION.

I WAS THIS CLOSE TO LEAVING. I WAS DISSUADED. Over 60 days of waiting for service. Or will I ever actually get any?

Absolutely LIVID. Completely useless company. Nothing but pure incompetence.

Edit: well Trustpilot are useless as well because my extra update here was cleared.

Shortened version: I left Vodafone. I called them up fourth time and left. I have had enough. Avoid these people if you value your health and time. The engineer didn't do the job properly and that meant either very short time notice arriving tomorrow (can't do, I work), or February 9th! Almost 10 weeks of no service! I'm done. Never again will I touch a Vodafone service.

Edit: the automated response below is the icing on the cake.

THE SERVICE IS ALREADY CANCELLED YOU COLOSSAL MORONS. Why on earth would I spend more time ringing your minions when I can't get any service from you? Go to hell Vodafone.

Edit: I still haven't received ANY confirmation of the cancellation of the contract. None. The lady on the phone earlier said something along the lines of nothing being on the system about me having broadband, so this might explain a few things. WHERE IS MY CONFIRMATION OF LEAVING THOUGH? Eh?! WHERE?!

Review of Argos

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Support tries to help but ultimately it is down to me.

Support tries to help, but do yourself a favour and never buy a mattress (or any bedding for that matter) from these clowns.

I had bought a mattress, fairly inexpensive but within a few weeks (if that) the mattress had worn through and very prominent springs dug into me. It may have been fairly inexpensive but you have to ask yourself what the purpose of a mattress of such poor durability is, besides ripping people off?

I contacted support and they told me they couldn't issue a replacement but told me to put an order in and they will refund the purchase and the difference up to £20. So In theory I can buy a new mattress that must be as close to the original purchase price I made, up to an additional £20. Okay... not really much choice though is there?

I offered to buy a more expensive mattress and pay the difference. So the existing (defective mattress) costs + £100 quid say to get something that isn't going to wear through. The answer from support? No. The result of this is I'm going to have to buy another one of these same AWFUL mattresses from Argos which will again wear through in 2-3 weeks and I will then have to spend £100+ on a memory foam topper to cover up the frankly terrible workmanship. Bravo, Argos.

Time and time again this company proves to me that it's just an awful place to shop, but I chance it because it has potential. But I guess I really will have to look for an alternative because Argos is just one big joke, from issues surrounding delivery, stock issues, poor quality products, bizarre (and untrustworthy) 'solutions' from support (like ordering another one of these mattresses and being told to get back into contact with support to get my money back...)

That's it. I'll try to get a replacement mattress. I'll spend another £100+ on bedding. I am really quite angry now to be honest. And to top it off, the bed that I assembled can't be dismantled, despite 90% of it being bolted and fixed by Allen key, means I'll have to bin that when I move again in 1 year.

Argos' fiasco, will ultimately, excluding duveys, pillows and protectors, will result in a loss of approximately £360+. I'll also need to take a day off of work... AGAIN... this time to give them the old mattress back. This is ridiculous.

Another thing before I go, is Argos here replying to customers to get into contact with them via social media. Shocking. Truly.

Edit: after talking with support and the discussion coming to an end, not 5 minutes later do I receive a text message and an e-mail saying:

Order Number:
1562415282

At your request we have cancelled the collection these items: the mattress in question.

So now what the hell do I do? Argos has a policy and frankly I am 100% convinced that the mattress was defective. Now it's starting to look like I am in-line for more Argos surprises because I have just had to buy another mattress of equal value, per Argos customer support's request and it doesn't look as if any exchange is actually going to take place. Did I just get conned by support?

I specifically said to the man (and I have taken pictures of Argos' web chat) about what if Argos just say no to the refund and I've spent money on another mattress? He said quote the original order number and the customer service agent will initiate a refund. For Argos here, acknowledging this on Trustpilot, that order number is: 1502829104 and NO I don't have social media.

I hate this company!

Edit: Tracey is a bot that posts scripted responses. Clearly said bot didn't see the bit where I said I don't Facebook or Twitter.

I bought some bedding at the end of…

I bought some bedding at the end of November. The mattress wasn't super expensive but after a small discount it cost £120. I didn't expect it to last years, but I did expect it to last a year or so at the very least. Within 2-3 weeks it has worn through so that I can feel every spring in my spine. I can trace my fingers across the metal coils. I had a cheap mattress before that lasted almost 4 years before it got to that stage.

What's also bad is being unable to leave a review because I couldn't find the e-mail that invites you to review. I can't warn customers of this dreadful product and sadly some poor sod is going to end up buying it.

Edit: Sadly I do not use Facebook or Twitter. But here is a order number: 1502829104

I won't shop here any longer because…

I won't shop here any longer because getting a delivery for things is a nightmare, especially when you're trying to buy multiple items. This is a consequence of lots of tiny Argos stores now living inside Sainsbury's.

I've also got to negatively review Argos because after spending quite a large chunk of money with them, they refuse to let me review any products.

Edit: that is not good enough. And 2-4 weeks is vague, is it not?

Definitely not going to shop with Argos, especially with staff offering such weak responses and a system designed solely to protect the company and not aid the consumer.

Hello there, I am sorry that this has been your experience. Some stock is kept at different locations which means that getting the stock altogether may not be possible, I am sorry about that. With regards to reviewing your products, there is a limited time that this is available to customers and emails are always sent to customers to allow this happen. However after the two - four weeks or so to allow for a response then, this is removed. This is done as customers have the right to return goods for refund up to 30 days after the purchase, and it is assumed that past this timescale a review is not necessary. I hope this helps to explain why.

Review of OVO

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

OVO are stealing.

OVO are stealing.

On 14th December I was out all day. I noticed the following day that somehow I had used over £3.04 in energy when I wasn't in. No devices were on, no gas used.

As it turns out, because the not-so-smart Smart Meter cannot communicate with the IHD because OVO says it has a communication issue, that also appears (though I wasn't told at the time) to extend to their network and thus every single reading since I moved into this property on the 8th November has been a grossly over-estimated usage of energy (or guesstimate), allowing OVO to take way more money from me for something I haven't even used. OVO are stealing. In some cases I'm not even using gas at all and I'm being charged for 10s of kWhs of gas. Both gas and electric are still massively over-estimated.

I have no time off from work until the new year. I am currently in talks with support as I write this, but it's always the same from OVO... contact support, share your details, send an e-mail, blah blah blah, but nothing ever gets done. They are truly awful. I've not even been in this property for 6 weeks and OVO have been nothing but unhelpful.

They are forcing me into accepting them stealing from me. They are charging whatever they want, not even based on realistic estimates.

I have had enough of this company.

Do yourself a favour, if you can't stick with the big names, go to Octopus. Don't use these clowns.

I now have to take a day annual leave on the 7th January from my job with already limited annual leave to see to an engineer, that I have very little faith in showing up. So I have them stealing from me for another few weeks. Excellent. 2 months of theft. Great.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. Do not listen to OVO's glowing reviews when they have been incentivised.

Edit: the same response in OVO's TrustPilot replies leads me on a loop to call them up or use web chat to go through the same rigmarole, again and again. It is not good enough.

Since being here I've had maybe one reading sent over in the middle of December? and despite the signal on the meter being excellent it will not establish a connection. I have to take a day off with my limited annual leave to babysit an OVO energy clown who has to give the not-so-smart meter (essentially) a reset so that it connects to the network.

Guesstimates, being over charged every day for 2 months, including the many days I haven't used a single bit of gas, and over estimates on electric usage presumably based on how cold it is - apparently all of this can be accurately checked going back two months. I'm not convinced.

What right do you have to take estimates without informing me? It's only because I noticed that you were grossly overestimating energy usage when I wasn't even at my flat that I called you thieves out. You were in fact stealing. This is on top of my £96 direct debit, for energy I already barely use, and those INSANE STANDING CHARGES (x2, because of gas and electric).

I got £50 back as goodwill (ha, goodwill? No, it should be compensation for incompetence and stealing), and then a further £30 for a separate issue, which OVO tried to wriggle out of after realising I'd had a 'goodwill gesture' already. £80 total... but you're far off of what you have taken from me without any right or reason to do so, haven't considered the sheer amount of time wasted contacting you and speaking with your support team and the time I now have to take off of work because the smart meter doesn't communicate with your network (but strangely was fine for the previous tenant, right up until they left... funny that, eh?)

You people are terrible.

You best make sure that every single penny owed is given back to me and that every day is calculated perfectly all the way back until the 8th, otherwise I'll make a claim to get all of my money back - then I'll go to another energy provider... one not run by cowboys.

Maybe I am just massively unlucky, but at every turn so far with these people, it has been a nightmare and I struggle to see how they've gotten so many positive reviews without being bribed through the app.

Could OVO explain to me the technical reasons for why this wasn't resolved the last two times? Explain to me what you guys do to get it working and why it doesn't. Because really if it is a case of sending a signal to the meter over the mesh network to allow broadcast to the IHD, then, shouldn't it work by now? Or rather, shouldn't it have worked the first time?
1:43 PM

So the IHD connected to your "site" had the wrong GUID (serial number), meaning that the one we had on there needed to be removed and then the new one reconnected. I can only assume that the previous agent attempted to do this for you and it didn't go through properly as I can't see logs that far back unfortunately

So I'm just attempting that again now, I'll give it a few minutes and see what happens

No problem - I'm just giving that some time to process

So it's not going through for me either, but I'm honestly not sure why. If you don't mind waiting then tomorrow I can discuss it with one of my colleagues who's very skilled with IHD issues

And then I can get in touch with you as soon as we can get it sorted...

I've ran out of characters... oh well.

Cost a fortune; & incompetent.

I've barely been in my flat for the one month I have been living there (as I work, compared to so much of the lazy filth in the UK) and the heating has only been on not even once per day for an hour (old system, must have heating on to have hot water and vice versa) yet, my bill, partly due to the insane standing charges was over £120 for early November to December!

Three times I have contacted OVO... 3 times about the IHD saying 'Not Commissioned'. Insane wait times either for phone support or online chat, and finally when through, lots of promises it'll be fixed. Nope.

Thieves. Absolute thieves and liars.

Tempted to contact my landlord and request switching to somebody else as these guys are completely unprofessional.

Edit: REALLY 'Erikah'? Send my details AGAIN? For nothing to happen, eh?! To hell with you.

THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME ANYVAN HAS…

THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME ANYVAN HAS PETITIONED TRUSTPILOT TO REMOVE A LEGITIMATE REVIEW.

Original review:

Data miners.

They won't let you proceed after filling out all of your details. They obscure the prices unless you give them your e-mail address. This is classic early 2000s bait n' switch tactics and it's used to gather and sell off your data to brokers so you can be marketed based on what you own and where you live (as well as other associations).

'Blah, blah, blah we care about your privacy, blah, blah, blah GDPR'.

I will look elsewhere.'

Update: when I did move, funny enough there was a AnyVan letter posted through the door of the new place already, presumably for the old tenant, written in fake handwriting style text, offering services.

Avoid this company because before you even get to experience their services, they're hoarding your data and using it to provide services at the other end for other people who may be moving out. Very dodgy. Probably breaching GDPR as well.

I will keep reviewing this company over and over and over and over because I have in fact had an experience with them and continue to have experiences with them now. They are not trustworthy, regardless of what they say.

Installation date: next millenia

I had little choice but to go with Vodafone. I won't be around whenever the engineer does the survey, so I just have to hope he doesn't damage the property or drill into the wrong person's home (weird flat layout) - unless he can see through walls. I can't schedule time off when I don't know when the engineer is going to come do the survey.

I've to book the 14th of January off for the installation.... the 14th! That's almost 6 weeks! Completely unacceptable.

+1 star for decent prices and more modern equipment.

Edit: I'd rather just know why it takes 6-7 weeks to drill a hole in the wall and run a cable through it. I tell you, after all of the hassle I have had with Vodafone so far, I really do hope your 'engineer' isn't a moron who just wants to get the job done as easily as possible, and instead will listen to reason and put the access point in an intelligent and accessible area. There is no need for signal repeaters in my flat, so if he/she puts it in a stupid place and tries to upsell me some repeater tat, I will be fuming.

The website is ancient

The website is ancient. The navigation is awful. It feels like the digitial personification of a run down, brick n' mortar cycle shop. It is functionally poor, but it does save sessions between logins.

Paid for premium next day delivery on a Friday morning (which cost a fiver), and it has only now been dispatched on a Wednesday afternoon. I live alone in a flat and work 7 until 6pm. Now my parcel will sit outside or will be delivered to neighbours, stolen or re-routed.

Since there is no option to schedule delivery, you can only time delivery with next day. However if some products are low in stock your delivery may be delayed... so why are you offering the products that aren't out of stock at the time of ordering? Or rather, why are Merlin allowing the purchsse of next day delivery when you know it won't be sent out on time?

I am disappointed.

Getting tired of the corruption of…

Getting tired of the corruption of Trustpilot.

This company keeps removing my reviews of AnyVan. AnyVan will collect excessive user data and hold quotes unless associative means are provided, and that is well before actually agreeing to any service - so if you don't and you don't proceed to receive quotes, they share user data and make money off of you. This is morally wrong. And due to this, you won't have a sacred reference number, therefore AnyVan will ask Trustpilot to take down the review and of course they do so.

After I moved property, what was in the letterbox here? A leaflet with fake handwriting offering AnyVan services. So yes, they KNEW the other tenant was leaving.

I am sick of AnyVan and I am sick of how corrupt TrustPilot is.

They don't answer their phones.

They don't answer their phones.

Monthly customers are treated differently and get less support than Pay As You Go. However if you dial the PAYG line to get support, they won't answer their phone... well they do, but then they cut you off. All their support staff have terrible English.

Their standing / daily charges for electric and gas is beyond ridiculous. Their energy rates are mediocre. The direct debit

£95 direct debit! £10 for about 5 days of sparse usage! This is more expensive than the all-electric I was on before in another property. What a joke!
