Unreleased Authorization Hold – Rental No. NDL01627

I rented a vehicle from Dollar Car Rental at Muscat International Airport from 13 January 2025 to 17 January 2025 (Rental No. NDL01627).

Although the vehicle was returned in good condition and no additional charges were incurred, the OMR 100 authorization hold on my credit card has never been released.

For more than a year, I have repeatedly contacted Dollar's local and international customer service departments and followed up with my bank on more than 10 occasions. Each time, my bank confirmed that the authorization hold has not been released and no funds have been returned to my account.

Despite numerous follow-ups and providing all requested documents, I have not received any effective resolution or evidence that this matter has been properly investigated with the Oman branch.

I respectfully request an immediate investigation and the prompt release of the authorization hold, or a clear written explanation of the delay, as this issue has remained unresolved for an unreasonably long period.

I was booking a car for under $179.96 from Dollar, but then after on the website and verbally declining the additional insurance, I was charged $231.76 for the insurance I didn't need as well as taxes and fees that added on another ~$100.

Tuvimos que hacer más de una docena de llamadas a los teléfonos de atención al cliente, que nos pasaban de un departamento a otro sin miramiento, pese a indicarles que viajabamos con un menor enfermo y con medicinas que requerían frío, y estabamos en mitad del desierto en julio.
Cuando llevábamos como una hora en un apartadero de la carretera, nos asistió un agente de tráfico que nos trasladó hasta el pueblo cercano, y trato de arreglar el tema con la compañía. Le llegaron a ofrecer algo tan absurdo como trasladarnos a por otro coche al aeropuerto de San Diego a 230km de donde estabamos y a 200 de nuestro destino, no hubo forma de que buscasen algo más cercano o nos llevasen a los Ángeles.
Finalmente, tras más de tres horas, y mientras seguíamos hablando con la enesima recepcionista, que nos ofrecía una asistencia que aún tardaría una hora y media, apareció un gruista al que le acababan de avisar, supongo que de alguna de las anteriores llamadas.
Nos confirmó que en la zona había un centro de Hertz y que deberían habernos derivado allí a por otro coche y ya se habrían hecho cargo del averiado.
Nos trasladó a un taller, donde no teníamos la certeza de que hubiera rueda de la medida, llegamos sobre las 18h, cerraban a las 19. Afortunadamente era un lugar grande y tenían rueda, sino el gruista nos dijo que teníamos que vovler a contactar para ver que pasaba con nosotros.
En el taller tuvimos que esperar más de media hora porque la compañía Dollar (Hertz), no les contestaba emails ni teléfono para confirmarles que se hacían cargo de la rueda. Finalmente, y sin haber tendido contestación, me tomó los datos y me dijo que iba a cambiarla porque se hacía la hora de cerrar.
Le costó menos de 20 minutos cambiarla.
Así perdimos una tarde entera de nuestras vacaciones por una mala atención de un servicio que no tenía pies ni cabeza, que no devolvía las llamadas cuando se cortaban, ni informaba del estado en que estaba el caso, debe haber todavia varios partes abiertos con nuestro asunto, porque cada vez que llamábamos no tenían ni idea y había que contarles todo de nuevo.

Bei dieser Automietung scheint es eine Masche zu sein, dass die Akzeptanz von EC und weiteren Karten sowie Bargeld für die Kaution nicht möglich ist. Die bereits getätigte Zahlung von 600 € über eine Kreditkarte in Deutschland wurde einbehalten. Die alternative Lösung sollte eine erneute Autoanmietung vor Ort durch einen Bekannten zum dreifachen Preis sein. Ein mega bescheidener Familienurlaub in Frankreich, der mit 600 € weniger, ohne Mietwagen und mit dem Zug fortgesetzt wurde.

Stay away, far away. No flexibility. Booked through a third party and needed to cancel. Third party directed us to Dollar. Called Dollar and they just said "the system won't let us cancel, contact the booking agency." Just a circus of garbage and they kept our money. DO NOT BOOK HERE.

I would give this place no star if i can. Terrible place to get your car. Do not rent your car from here. Even their online customer service will pie and deceive you. They treat their customers terrible and use foul language at them in front of their families.

Was overcharged and double charged and charged for a toll that I already paid. In all, the rental was overcharged by more than $400. Customer service is poor to non-existent. Had to wait almost an hour at rental car counter due to lack of agents and then the agent lied about gas prices and other thing to try to lure in more charges. What a scam!

Es ist eine Unverschämtheit das Dollar eine Visa Debitkarte nicht zulässt und auch keine andere Kreditkarte die auf einen Mitfahrer zugelassen ist!
Deshalb konnten wir unsere Anmietungeines Autos für 14 Tage nicht antreten.
Es gab kein Entgegenkommen, nachdem die Kreditkarte dreimal abgelehnt wurde.
Die Konkurenzfirma Enterprise hat mit ein Fragen mehr mir ohne Probleme ein Auto vor Ort neu vermietet!
Mir wurde kein Rücktritt und keine Stornierung angeboten!
Dadurch habe ich auf 1000€ verzichtet die die Fa. Dollar bereits eingezogen hatte!

Would charge extra for additional driver of the car, i.e. spouse who was traveling with me. Aggressively pushed the added insurance and lied about what my own insurance would cover. Received parking bill from third party parking scammer (Metropolis Parking) that I have had difficulty getting resolved even though I have proof of parking payments. Dollar charged my account for it. They told me it would be removed, yet here it is on my credit card. It will be disputed. Have spent hours with both companies and still charged.

BEWARE - Fuel / gas scam. I took a picture of the dashboard electronic display where it shows how many miles are left until the tank is empty and it said 405. I filled up the gas tank right before I dropped the car off at the airport. I took a picture of how many miles it said were left until the tank is empty and it said 417. So I returned it with more gas than when I received it. They still charged me $100 for gas! Also, when I booked the rental at Booking.com, I said I wanted a compact car and I agreed to the rate. When I got to the rental counter to pick up the car, they said I rented the "manager's special," which just happened to be a huge truck which got only 10 mpg. How convenient. I don't like driving big trucks. The representative then proceeded to upsell me to a compact car for an extra $122!! I didn't rent the manager's special. I tried to show him my receipt but he kept insisting I was wrong. I will never rent from Dollar again. Totally shady and crooked thieves.

I reserved a car online and paid with my wife's credit card. When I got to the counter to pick up the car they refused to rent it to me. Apparently when it was paid with wife's CC the rental went in her name. They would not change the rental agreement and would not give me a refund. There isn't a phone number to talk with a person who can make decisions about refunds. I rent cars frequently for work and this is not a company I would recommend.

if i could give it zero stars i would because this places absolutely sucks. false advertising and long ass waiting in lines with only two agents working the desk.

I rented a car from Dollar at Detroit Metro Airport for one full day. Before leaving the rental lot, I took a photo of the dashboard showing an estimated range of 360 miles. After driving about 300 miles and returning the car exactly 11 hours later, I refueled it completely and kept the receipt as proof. The dashboard then showed an estimated range of 549 miles. It appears the car may not have been provided with a completely full tank, which was very disappointing.
I was unable to reach customer service at the 1-800 number, and the Detroit Metro Airport office did not answer the phone. Once you have flown home, it feels like there is little you can do to resolve the issue.

I am a Canadian citizen (with my passport with me) who is a resident of Panama. I reserved a rental car in advance of my visit to Dallas, but at the Hertz/Dollar office, I was denied my rental car because the data system of Hertz denied my Panama driver’s license I’ve never had this problem with any other rental car company during the past 5 years. I will never use Herrz or Dollar again.
Follow-up: I went to the nearest Enterprise Car Rental office, and the customer rep there easily and quickly helped me to rent a Toyota Corolla right then and there. Better yet, the Enterprise agent upgraded me to an Audi A3 for no additional cost.

Relying on a single email that your system "confirms was delivered" is not enough. I did not receive that email, and the responsibility to reach me does not end with one automated message. Proper follow-up should have been made by phone or otherwise before treating my silence as agreement.

To be clear, implicit consent is not valid and does not constitute my consent. Nothing was renewed with my written approval, and without that approval there was no agreement to renew. You charged my card and took money without my permission.

I may well have had other arrangements in place. Instead of confirming with me, you proceeded in the way that was most convenient for you, with no regard for what worked for the client.

For the record, I have already emailed customer care and called the number provided. To date I have seen no cooperation, no remedy, and no action of any kind.

I expect this renewal to be cancelled and the amount charged to be refunded. Please confirm in writing how and when this will be resolved.

J’ai loué un véhicule à l’aéroport d’Orly pour le restituer à l’aéroport de Bergerac. Anthony m’a accueilli avec le sourire et a été serviable, professionnel et efficace. En moins de 10 minutes, tout était réglé, et j’ai même bénéficié d’un surclassement sans l’avoir demandé. Merci Anthony !

Le véhicule était propre, le retour à Bergerac s’est déroulé sans aucun problème et ma caution m’a été remboursée sous 48 heures.

Je recommande sans hésitation.

Was told additional driver would cost 15 dollars total but they then charged me 15 dollars per day. Robbing bstards. Would not use them again.

Front desk Agent she was nice at time of pick up. Rented the car for a week and within that week called a few times to see if we might be able to drop off early said no. We was rushed out of the car while dropping it off before time, we forgot items in the car. Another Agent told us the car would be back today, for us to get them instead of asking the customer to return. Which it had our key to are car in it. So went back and was told the car was impounded by the police. And told us they are not sure when or if we would get our items. So asked who's going to pay for a locksmith to come make another key? A company laptop from the trunk of the car and bag of clothes since we was rushed. Only answer was we do not know.

Agent offered automatic fill up on return. What she did not explaining was that they would charge$56 for a full tank ( @ $4.48/ GAL for 12.5 gal tank) . Local price $3.50. We used 1/4 tnk =$10.94 . Dollar ripped us off for the difference .. I called- no refund for unused fuel!! FILL YOUR OWN TANK-THEY WILL OFFER THIS CONVENIENCE TO STEAL FROM YOU !

I would NOT recommend booking with this company!! Due to last minute cancellations on our flight, I had to book a car through Dollar for the day we arrive, which was due to be in 24 hours. The option to pay was PayPal, which went through. However, once this was completed, I recieved an email stating that I need to update the payment method as it needs to be a credit card with the driver's name, not paypal. When I went to amend the booking, I was unable to, as the booking was in under 48h, and bookings cant be amended 48 hours before. I tried to explain what happened and they were not providing any possibility for me amend the booking and said I can either cancel and pay a cancellation fee or when collecting the car, need to pay a fee to amend the card used payment. PayPal should not have been a payment option if this is not accepted! Atrocious customer service and an awful money grabbing scheme.
