Nice but pray that nothing happens to the suitcase
Hi, 2.5 years ago I purchased a cabin trolley from Travelite (via Amazon). Now, the holder/handle on top of the case broke and the telescope was no longer useable... The warranty period was 3 years, so the damage happened within the warranty period.
The holder was used as it was intented to be used, no special forces or brutal impact appeared... It started to become more and more "shaky" and during one trip it broke - first on one side (which I tried to fix/glue with no sucess) and then it broke on boths sides... I deem this to be of poor material quality - remember, it is a cabin trolley, so there are weight limitations anyway...
I called Travelite, they guided me to their support "Dolfi1920"... While discussingg with them, I handed over photos and a description of what happened and I asked for help - preferable a replacement of the telescope unit in the course of warranty.
They informed me that this damage could NOT be handled as a warranty claim and they offered me a replacement of the telescope unit at cost of EUR 31,00
I know - EUR 31,- is not a big issue, especially as this trolley costs EUR 116,- but I was a bit disappointed about the way this claim was handled... I know how I treated this suitcase and I think, this very exposed part of the suticase is dimensioned waaaaay to weak - so I guess, I might not be the first and only person with such a problem... I would have expected to get a replacement of the telescope unit (which by the way I offerred to install myself...) But NO - they insisted on charging me for that !
Given the value of that suitcase (and I also like the functions), I decided to accept their offer-at-cost but it left me with a bad feeling... And I think, this could have been handled better and more to satisfy the customers (I know - this could be seen differently, but hey - this is my opinion and feeling)... For my next suitcase I will take a much deeper look insto stability of the handle and the telescope as this has to stand a big pressure during the normal use (at airports, on streets, loading/unloading, etc)
So in essence - nice suitcase, good functionality and design, BUT - pray that nothing happens with this suitcase. You will get help and spare parts from an external support (Dolfi1920 - not from Travelite), but do not expect any goodwill ("Kulanz") and expect to be charged even if the damage is more a matter of material which I deemed to be poor in the light of the useage of a suitcase.
