I tried to obtain info on someone's socials and was told it would be $0.95 but was charged $19.95 and received a "report" with useless information (which I already have) and NO info on the socials!! They refuse to refund the $19.95 and insist that they provided a full report (I ONLY requested socials and did not receive it) I don't need the person's address, phone, email and relatives - I have all of that information. Do NOT use this company, it is a total SCAM

Spokeo made it very easy to sign up for their service. They were fast and accurate. I need contact information for a colleague I hadn't seen or talked to in over 35 yrs. Spokeo was able to give me all the information I needed within seconds and it was accurate.

Spokeo Doest care about providing service
I requested and paid for the advance search for the marriage date between my mother and father who were divorced and each had remarried. My mother and stepfather had past away years ago and my father past away just a few months ago. My stepmother needed this information for the Veteran’s administration. I paid for the advance search. No information was provided, (this was not the fault of Spokeo) I tried to ask the person contacted through spokeo chat for the information or a refund. He stated there was no information. He did forward my request to Spokeo customer serve supervisor. I was denied a refund stating they provided the information. They refused to provide a refund nor actually show the information. Which I found out could only be attained by a phone call into the records department of OK. So Spokeo refused to follow their own company stated policy and guarantee. No information is supposed to trigger a refund. I had to go through PayPal to get my refund. Horrible customer service and a horrible company!
Added after Spokeo posted. Their response is a complete joke. There was absolutely no information provided, no intention of refund and no actual response with actual facts to backup their claims that they provided other information. They even stated there was no information at all in the previous chat. Horrible customer service/ absolutely horrible company

I took advantage of a free 7 day trial…
I took advantage of a free 7 day trial 3 years ago amwhich I thought I cancelled right away. But not only was I charged for that account since at 22.95 but another account was added which I did not authorize at 29.95 a month. I only used the service during the free trial. When I cancelled earlier this week the second account was never mentioned which I discovered when I was charged after canceling. I just requested a full refund and cancellation of the second account. We will see what happens. My recommendation to this service is to show some integrity in your account and billings. The two accounts were collected under the same PayPal account. I feel ripped off and cheated.

Sold my information without my consent, now I get unwanted calls and texts from the USA.
Spokeo published and sold my private US cellphone number without my knowledge or consent, violating my GDPR rights as an EU resident. They also inaccurately linked it to a family member. I will be filing a complaint with my local GDPR authority until they delete my number and all data associated with it and me from their site and STOP selling it to other sites and data brokers. Everyone who buys and uses my number after buying it from this site will also be getting a GDPR deletion request and I will escalate to my local data authority as needed. This lack of respect for people's right to privacy is one of many reasons I left the USA in the FIRST place and because of companies like Spokeo, I STILL encounter the same problems here!! I should not have to consider getting a new number because they gave mine out without my consent. I keep my US number to stay in touch with loved ones back home, NOT so Spokeo can sell it to people making UNSOLICITED CALLS AND TEXTS while it is NIGHT TIME IN EUROPE. US number =/= US resident!!
I also demand to know who they bought it from so I can tell them to stop sharing it too.
They claim they got my data from a social network or somewhere otherwise public and that they only provide data on people living in the US.
This is a LIE. I NEVER publish my cell number on social media precisely because I don't want randoms contacting me. EVER. And I definitely DON'T live in the US. In any case "we found it online so we can repackage and sell it without your say-so" is NOT ACCEPTABLE when dealing with EU subject data and they've been reported to my local data authority for infringement, that is directly resulting in unwanted HARASSMENT from US numbers even though I haven't lived there in YEARS!! Thanks for nothing Spokeo!!
UPDATE: The offending listing was removed. However, my number remains searchable with accurate data on a results page that isn't eligible for opt-out. I am still escalating the case with my local data authority until my phone number and all associated data is entirely removed from Spokeo and is no longer discoverable in any way. Stop holding on to data for dear life when EU residents request it be deleted - my local data authorities will be informed
UPDATE 2: This company keeps giving me the runaround and making excuses for why they cannot suppress my phone number from public view. They do not care if you get harassed or have to change your number because they find ways to publish your number with NO RIGHT TO OPT OUT OF HAVING YOUR NUMBER SHARED.

Stay away from them!
They’ve been fraudulently charging my credit card $29.95 per month for the past 7 months! I authorized payment of $5.95 for a ONE time charge in order to receive a single report back in December 2025. Without my knowledge and without my authorization, they enrolled me in a recurring monthly plan! They’ve never sent me any messages stating that they’re going to charge my card. When I finally noticed how they were stealing my money, I downloaded copies of the monthly charges as they reported them to my bank. The detail for each payment says '12 day trial membership $29.95'! A 12 day trial membership that costs $29.95/month and goes on forever??? DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE CROOKS! If you unfortunately do like I did be sure to dispute the charges with your bank! You may want to cancel or lock your credit card ASAP before they drain your bank account!

When making a purchase, we do our best to let you know about the kind of information we may have available. In addition, we gather our data from 12 billion public records, ranging from census data to public social media profiles. Our name, phone number, and address search will only yield results for individuals in the United States. However, our email and username searches are universal and may display social media profiles associated with those. While our subscription services do include, name, email, phone number, and address searches; any additional services such as historical records, court records, PDF downloads, Investigator reports, enhanced background reports, higher search quotas, and any additional feature or service are offered for an additional price. Spokeo does not originate or create data, so our data reflects that of the original sources. Spokeo does not guarantee data accuracy, and the data should only be used as a reference. We are, however, constantly working to expand and improve the data available on our site. New information is added to our system every day and I suggest you check back for new updates.
Please allow me to explain the charges associated with services selected to your account. Since all Spokeo subscriptions automatically renew to prevent service interruption, trials that were left unchanged, were charged on the service's renewal date. Furthermore, cancelling your service only disables your subscription from renewing and does not offer a refund. Since all Spokeo services are prepaid, your service will last the duration of the period purchased. I apologize if this was unclear.

Regretfully submitted payment info for ONE search [0.95]. They take liberty to charge full amount, not just for one search, so beware. After contacting customer service, the very next day was charged two extra amounts. Again, I only did one search, requested refund, they charge my card the very next day, TWICE. Don't give them one inch. They take a mile.
