Another business that wants to make it as difficult as possible for you to leave them. Closing my accounts took an hour of waiting time and admin that didnt matter at all. Goodbye indeed, RACQ.

‘man’ coming to help a lady

racq came out to ‘help’ a lady after HER CAR locked her out with the keys in it, had one of my workers go over to check on her and the guy said “she can help you now” booked an uber off my workers phone and fuckd off, leaving the lady with no entrance to her car, my staff member being charged for an uber she was not involved with, not only did the racq guy say she has to come back after leaving her but now she has no phone and the uber driver is telling me she needs a way back, absolutely pathetic, find out who got called out for ‘help’ at goldcoast harbourtown involving a mercedes, you should be ashamed that your company lets this happen.

Got woken up to 2 phone calls from a racq supervisor at 5.30 am. Even if they are going by QLD time 7.30 is still a very unprofessional time to call a customer with a non urgent matter. One supervisor promises you something and then they leave no notes so you have to start all over again with staff. They have made this stressful breakdown 10 times more stressful. The lack of communication is insane.

My RACQ home and contents renewal was due. It came in at 1500.00 more than last year. When I put in a house next door to see what a new policy would come up with it came in at 2300.00. Mine was 5500.00 I called racq they couldn't give me a reason why. Bye bye RACQ. I have now gone with Everyday Rewards for 2000.00

Why I will not buy another battery from RACQ

Last week, I called the RACQ call centre to inquire about the warranty for a battery I bought from them 20 months ago. I explained to the operator that I had just replaced my alternator and wanted to check if the battery was still under warranty. He said the battery has a 24 to 36 month warranty period, but he couldn't confirm if it was covered until an RACQ patrol checked it.

A few days later, my car wouldn't start and the battery was dead. I called RACQ again and gave the patrol the exact same information I gave the call centre. The patrol immediately explained the warranty was void because I changed the alternator. He pointed out it is common for alternators to need replacing between 100,000 and 150,000 kilometres.

Here are my issues with this service:

1. Why wouldn't the call centre operator know and advise me the warranty was void due to the alternator change? If they had simply told me, I would have asked my mechanic to replace the battery while the car was still at the workshop. This lack of information ended up ruining my weekend plans.

2. I have bought at least three batteries from RACQ over the last few years, mostly when my vehicles were in the 100,000 to 180,000 kilometre range. I was never once advised to check the alternator. I have been replacing batteries every few years when a new alternator might have fixed the root cause. I accept this isn't strictly their duty, but it is frustrating.

I didn't get my warranty claimed, which is fair under the terms and conditions. However, I didn't buy my replacement battery from RACQ because of this disjointed experience, despite being a roadside assistance customer for 16 years.

Today, I drove to Local Batteries Super Store and had the battery replaced with one that includes a 50 month warranty.

After being an RACQ customer since I…

After being an RACQ customer since I was around 18, I am extremely disappointed with how my recent claim has been handled.

My car was rear-ended while stationary and pushed across two lanes. Despite repeatedly reporting problems after the accident, I received reports that still did not properly explain or prove why RACQ believed the issues were unrelated to the collision.

Diagnostic testing showed multiple history fault codes, yet later testing differed. My intermittent Apple CarPlay/Bluetooth problems were essentially dismissed because they happened to be working when checked.

After waiting weeks, I collected my car to find it had apparently been sitting outside, covered in bird droppings and bottlebrush debris, the repaired bumper finish looked terrible, and before I had even properly left the premises my dad noticed the right rear light wasn’t working — right around the area that had been hit.

After nearly three decades of loyalty, I expected much better workmanship, investigation and customer service.

I have now cancelled my RACQ insurance and will be taking my complaint and supporting evidence to AFCA.

Extremely disappointing experience. Horrible company!!

I’m a woman!!!!

My husband and I have each bought the exact same model new car, although he has had a tow bar fitted. My quote was $50 more, well probably more as his had the tow bar included. Why??? I was told by the person on the phone it was because I was a woman and women put in more claims. I was told the same thing at the counter at RACQ at Eight Mile Plains and once again when someone rang me in response to my official complaint. How dare they!!!! We have been using RACQ products for over 40 years, I have had no claims on my last car which I had for 15 years and this is the thanks I get. I will be telling everyone I can about their treatment.

I am not impressed at all with this supposed "windscreen chip repair" for $80... The repair is not much better than the original chip, which happened on the road the day before.
Orig chip on left.
Sad repair job on the right.

**Update. They used ai to respond to my review. Waited on hold for 20 minutes, to be told nothing. To call the store, not the number given in the response.

Called the store in Geebung to be met with a rude person, claiming to be the owner. They wouldn't listen, talked over me the whole time with excuses and factors that were irrelevant. Yet still would not listen. Rude. Short. Excuse after excuse with no accountability for their poor workmanship. What a complete rip off, and absolutely the worst customer service ever. The lady at the RACQ mainline was lovely, once I got through. But this woman at the Geebung store was so extremely unprofessional and rude. She hung up, and never would give me her name.

Let's see what corporate says...

------------

I can't help but think they took advantage of my partner as she just wanted it fixed. Even though she questioned them about the "repair", they assured her that was the best they could do."

Really guys? If that's the best you can do perhaps try another line of work. This is appalling. You charged her 80 bucks to do a half arsed job, and then lied through your teeth that it's a great job you did.

Any amount of money charged for this slack job is too much.

I would Not recommend going to RACQ in Geebung, definitely don't send your kids or wife there, or your mother. They are likely to get shady service and a subpar repair.

Doing the right thing by VETRANS with PTSD

I am an ex Royal Australian Navy veteran with PTSD and multiple head and spinal injuries sustained during my service and deployment to the Persian Gulf in the 1980’s.
My $1890 mobile was stolen last year, and after tracking it down to an address in Logan belonging to some African people, I went around at 5am the following morning and they denied having it. They refused any knowledge even though it the tracking app put it there. I offered no action would be taken just give me my phone back. No response. I then went to report it stolen at the Coomera police station and sat down and filed a report. I found out two days ago that the police officer never entered anything, Luckily I also went to the Logan police station and spoke to a lovely female police officer who again took my details and apologised for them not being allowed to do anything as it was too much hassle to get a search warrant. NOT HER BUT THE QLD POLICE’S POLICY. After months of having to use a $7 prepaid piece of junk from Cole’s I decided to give my insurance company a go. After two attempts of claims, both being outside of their guidelines I thought that was the end for me. You end to understand as an ex Navy Defence Diver, Aircrew Rescue Swimmer and Leading Seamen Underwater Weapons and Demolitions specialist every day is a huge mental struggle for me.
Just when I thought it was all over, the lovely lady asked if RACQ could offer me a lower amount of cash. The offer was extremely generous, considering the circumstances. You have no idea how much of a relief and burden this act of kindness means not just to me but to my “Veterans with PTSD Suicide Prevention, Boat Restoration and Veterans go Fishing Mornings. We are a Registered Not for Profit Charity Incorporation. Facebook .com/ svbattlescars & YouTube. com/sailingnavydayz1777 I founded and have invested all of my Superannuation and now money from my Mortgage to keep it going. We have been blessed by many incredible CEO, Owners of both small and large companies who have responded admirably buy providing some very expensive products and or services free of charge. I have run this program for nearly five and a half years mainly by myself and with the help of a “A FEW GOOD MEN” who come regularly every Tuesday morning for a coffee, shooting the shit and then getting stuck into our main restoration project, a 43ft salvaged sailing sloop, SV Battle Scars. We also have some much smaller project boats which we need to hopefully soon be able to take up to four veterans with PTSD or injury from service, out fishing. NO MAN IS AN ISLAND Without the kind support that companies such as RACQ have shown me and my many shipmates following our Adventures and efforts, I would be unable to continue this voyage of help our many veterans struggles to stay alive due to their invisible mental scaring!
Thank you RACQ and your amazing staff.

RACQ treated me better than my own Insurer

After a recent accident where I was the innocent party. The at-fault driver, however, was insured with RACQ who handled the situation honestly and responsibly, providing me with the claim details the very next day.
Despite not being an RACQ customer, the conversation I had on two occasions to-date had been professional and helpful. They patiently walked me through the entire process and kept me informed at every step. My own insurer fell short of this, unsupportive and never was a match to RACQ customer service.
What struck me most is that RACQ treated me this well as a complete outsider — not their policyholder, not their member. If this is how they handle third parties, I can only imagine how well they look after their own customers. The claim is still ongoing, and I'm hopeful it continues to go smoothly. But based on the experience so far, my mind is already made up. Once everything is done and dusted, I'll be making the switch to RACQ. A sincere thank you to the RACQ team for your outstanding service.

Crap organisation

This organisation has gone backwards in recent years. First came GIO. Then they dumped CTP. General Insurance premiums have increased. Claims service is pathetic.
I cancelled my insurances after 47 years with this organisation. They refunded premiums and then decided to debit me for two different amounts.
I lodged a complaint and got told that they would listen to my phone calls.
When finally told that their investigations found that the debits would stand after the refund. I felt its obvious why us oldies are jumping ship from this Gestapo style mentality that we rule.
Stuff you RACQ and IAG.

I will be doing my utmost to make sure they lose this amount by informing friends & family to never trust this rorting company ever.
