I purchased a third party policy from NRMA and later purchased a comprehensive insurance from another provider and forgot to cancel the third party policy. The money kept deducting from Auto Debit. I contacted them and asked for a refund by providing them proof for the comprehensive cover for the same period for the same vehicle; but they refused to return the money I paid for the duplicate coverage

I've been an N.R.M.A. insurance customer for years, but this experience has completely changed my view of the company. My car was sent to one of their approved repairers, who is refusing to use locally sourced GENUINE OEM parts that I found myself, just minutes away, and could have had fitted immediately. The delays have been staggering. First, it sat for three days waiting for an assessor. Then it sat for another week waiting for a quote and assessor approval. Now, after three weeks total, I have been told it will be a further two month wait for parts to be shipped from Japan, despite the exact parts being available locally and ready to fit straight away. I have called N.R.M.A. multiple times and left messages, but no one has called me back or taken any responsibility for resolving this. In the meantime, I am paying hundreds of dollars out of my own pocket for a rental car, through no fault of my own. For a company that promises to look after its customers, this has been an incredibly frustrating and costly experience, with a complete lack of communication and accountability."

Formally express my disappointment with the way my recent motor vehicle claim has been handled. The accident was ultimately determined not to be my fault however throughout the claim process I have repeatedly had to follow up and chase NRMA for information and action that I would reasonably expect to be managed proactively. I provided dashcam footage and had to email back and forth regarding the evidence. At no point was I advised that the footage could not be viewed. I only became aware of this after I personally called to follow up on the progress of my claim and each phone call wasted nearly an hour and keep explaining myself what happened. While NRMA was investigating the claim, I paid for a rental vehicle out of my own pocket. Once the claim was finalised and was found not to be my fault, I again had to chase NRMA regarding my reimbursement of my rental car expenses. I was advised that only part of the rental cost could currently be refunded because remaining amount needed to be followed up with the recovery team. I have already provided the requested receipt and rental agreement, yet I have to continue to spend my own time following up and explaining what need to be done internally for my refund to be processed. Most recently I spent 40 minutes on the phone simply to get this matter progressed. My concern is not just outstanding refund. It is overall lack of communication and ownership throughout this claim. As a customer I should not have to continually chase different parts of NRMA identify what information is missing or tell staff what needs to happen next. The staff are lacking product knowledge it is frustrating. After nearly 10 years as an NRMA customer this experience has seriously affected my confidence in the level of service and support I can expect from NRMA.

Support and Service are excellent on both Online Chat and Voice. NRMA might be slightly more expensive than the rest but I think it makes up for it with their communication and easy stress free claim process. They made more than reasonable accommodations for my request when I was concerned about one aftermarket part being used on my vehicle for the repair. They could have easily refused it as it was not part of my contract with them but I am so thankful they understood my worries and willingness to help. Bravo NRMA

Applied for comprehensive insurance on a 2nd vehicle (historic) which after ZERO REPLY or email, had to call. Then severely undervalued my 1967 road driving vehicle and actually INSULTED me with their agreed value of $5000 🤣🤣🤣 Go buy a 1967 Rambler Rebel that's on the road for $5000 somewhere is my challenge to these tight wads. So what happens now is I cancel my existing policy for my daily driver, and seek alternatives for road service on both! This loyal customer doesn't take garbage from these types of company's, as it's just as easy to switch to one that rewards loyalty!

Firetruck Pt. 3 — DO NOT USE NRMA.
NRMA is single-handedly the WORST insurance. DO NOT USE THEM. Cash grabs, no humanity, will find any way to get out of helping people (EVEN WHEN ITS NOT-AT-FAULT).
After a month of dealing with the firetruck hitting my car issue (you can read my previous reviews). 3.5 weeks, NO CAR. I finally had a hire car, my car was READY TODAY. 1 September 2026. I return my hire car to Avis, I arrive to Repairhub Banksmeadow ONLY to be told that MY CAR ISN'T READY.
The mechanic was so rude and said NRMA sends automated text that aren’t always right. I told Repairhub I also called you guys twice and confirmed and you ALSO said it was ready. He just shrugged his shoulders and said, “it’s not our problem. You have to pick it up tomorrow.”
THIS. THIS is how THEIR repair company treats me. I now have to go ANOTHER day without a car. If I had known, I’d keep the hire car for another day? They could have told me on the phone it isn’t ready.
I am once again taking Ubers everywhere. This has dragged on for OVER a month.
Where do I even complain at this point? Is there a body that can investigate them. Just when I was ready to end this saga, another issue. Another lie.
This is pathetic. This is the lowest, dirtiest company for how they treat their customers for a NOT AT FAULT issue.
Any advice welcome for who I can get an investigation into. I have every piece of evidence and documentation ready to go.

I was very impressed with Melina and the way she explained everything to me about my home insurance. I will always go to the Richmond NSW office.

At age 74 I can say I have been with the NRMA since my late teens. I have five policies with them. Loyalty is the main reason I have stayed with them all these years.
I hope they are around forever.

The price is reasonable for a company with a good reputation. Easy to navigate the system.

Not as good as they use to be I have been with NRMA for 40 years. I am trying to book a repair for a bumper bar and it has turned into a saga hardly any repairs in the area and told I would have to wait 2 months to have it done. Not happy

I had a great experience on the phone with the NRMA employee Tess. Excellent and extremely helpful and assisted with my insurances and very responsive. Nice communication skills and cheerful nature. Highly recommend Tess for other roles within NRMA.

Absolute joke. NRMA want you to pay a premium but if a mechanic does bad workmanship and your engine blows up, not covered. They just wipe their hands and say Goodluck getting it fixed.
Made me wait 2 months, passed me
Off to specialist after specialist, hired a hire car for That time, all for them to call me and say they read my policy and it’s not Covered.
These companies are designed to screw people over.

Car insurance went up $100 this year for no obvious reason. All factors have remained the same. This follows ALL other policies increasing significantly including a $1250+ increase in home insurance.
Customer service is appalling. Independent reviews of complaints are done by their own people so unsure how they are independent.
