Simple to purchase and gave us confidence to know we were covered.

Having recently returned from a lengthy holiday in Australia where both my wife and I required medical attention we filed a claim a week after our return home and both claims were actioned and accepted the following day , so impressed with the level of cover and the incredible response time , I can’t stress enough how important it is to have all your documents , receipts and dates etc in order which is very easy to do you just need to be organised , very cost effective and efficient , we highly recommend Southern Cross , thank you and well done .

Was traveling internationally to visit family.
Arranged SX travel Insurance and must compliment the company for the assistance in arranging. Having had an issue on the Website, I contacted the 0800 No and thanks to the Operator on the Line, ensuring I completed the process. It became a smooth experience.
My trip was magic and reassuring to know I was covered by a renowned company.

Completing the online travel insurance was simple, cost effective and when we extended our trip it was easy to get hold of an actual person to extend. I can't comment on claiming as we've not had to do that thankfully.

What outstanding service. I had to cancel an overseas trip due to illness and SCTI paid out my claim in full and within a few days of my submission. I can’t recommend them highly enough and their premiums were the lowest of all the quotes I got. They are an example to the insurance industry as to how insurance should be conducted.

Easy to book & trusted brand!

I was eligible for the vouchers due to delay. I have been home for 2 weeks now and still cannot access the vouchers going back an forth with staff having to repeat myslef. Thank god I wasn't in desperate need of them when our flights were canceled. Not a good enough service.

So easy to apply for the insurance, even though we both have existing conditions that needed to be declared.

Little to no coordination between the overseas Emergency team and the ultimate claims team back in NZ. Seems no cross collaboration or unified technology between them. Emergency team must be an outsourced provider. Given SCTI is a NZ based company, they do not have direct relationship with hospital in Spain and therefore they have to appoint an “agent”, who in turn could not act fast enough and in fact I never even heard if they ever contacted the hospital, meaning you need to be in a position to meet costs yourself and then claim reimbursement. Fortunately I was only in hospital for one day. Then when back in NZ, between their supposed non receipt of documents via their portal, and not reading of emails properly, nor looking at history of dealings with the emergency team, it took another 8 weeks for a very simple claim to be (mostly) settled. Response times to email submissions referenced as “thank you for your email, we will likely be back to you within 48 hours” was never met not once, and typically never even got a response other than the automated response. Eventually a promised reply with the claim outcome referenced on a Friday as “I will hear early next week”, turned into another two weeks with no communication in between. When settlement finally received, items missed off incorrectly. Overall an incredibly poor level of service and I will be taking his further. I can speak reasonably positively about the emergency team who did follow up regularly, whilst I was overseas and unwell, but post that when back in NZ, it was all downhill once in the hands of the NZ claims department. I had originally given a 1 star result (and would still like to), but felt that is unfair on the emergency team who were actually OK, albeit they are not SCtI I suspect but do represent the brand. I may have given them (the emergency team) a 3+ hence settling on a 2 overall as the NZ claims team and systems definitely gets a 1.

The communication with customer service is awful.

Easy to do. Easy to pay and book. And great I could do even though I had already set off.

Quick easy. Price is reasonable. Bit expensive but ok.

Southern cross is reliable and affordable. Travelled many times and not had an issue.

The services/benefits listed in the plan were peace of mind when overseas. I didn't need to claim as everything went well. But it was good to know this policy had my back. It was straightforward, not overly technical in it wording and clearly stated what it did cover.

Cost effective, quick and easy process online. We have used SCTI for years and every time we have had to make a claim, they paid out no questions asked and no hassle. Good one SCTI, next trip we are using you yet again :-)
