I DO NOT RECOMMEND!
The vehicle arrived damaged and non-functional.
The photos of the vehicle were retouched (edited)
2 months of waiting for the complaint to be resolved and inadequate compensation of €300!
Very poor willingness to solve the problem on their part!
I bought a vehicle through them, which they mediated from a seller (bazaar) in Germany.
I asked the call center if the vehicle had any defects, because the defect report from TUV/DEKRA was missing.
I was assured that the car was fine.
It arrived with an engine defect and damaged (scratches, broken glass, engine emergency mode).
I provided all the documents they requested, after reviewing the photos I found out that the photos in the offer were edited / retouched.
I waited 2 months for them to finalize the claim, I was asked not to manipulate the vehicle until it was finalized...
Then they offered me compensation of 300€, they said there was no evidence and the damage was excluded...
In all honesty - we've purchased as a company quite a lot of cars from Openlane, but the best thing about it is Leo from Customer Support. I don't know how much you pay this guy but he is ALWAYS nice, always helpfull and always gives the right information and answers asap. Don't let him go, he is literally a gem. Search engine of the website is good now too, purchase is straight forward, for anyone new. Go for it.
Purchased a 2021 toureg. Payed for the car, waited 2.5 months to receive authorisation to finally pick up the vehicle. The car had 4.000 km more then what I purchased it with, had new damages in the back. I requested compensation. They rejected me, because the value doesn't change because of the 4.000 km or because of the new damage. They are a joke.

Don't buy vehicles from them, all the faults are not acknowledged, the vehicles are mostly bad, with minor damage and seemingly a little body damage, when you dismantle it you get a headache. As far away from Openlane as possible

I am very disappointed and at the same time very angry about the car I recently purchased from Openlane! I bought a Citroen Jumper commercial van in the above-mentioned online auction, for which I paid nearly gross 12,000 euros, and then I organized the transport of the car! After it arrived home, I was faced with the problems: Since I bought a fully functional car, I never thought I would face such surprises, that the car could only be driven for a few meters because the gearbox was completely destroyed, the gears inside the gearbox were broken, the AC fan was not working, the clutch was worn out, and the engine control unit was burnt out too (which was not visible at all in the pictures). We could only transport the car on a towing trailer to the nearest service station, where I was informed that the gearbox was damaged to such an extent that it cannot be repaired!!! After the complaint, the company offered 900 euros in compensation, which of course I did not accept, since I bought an undamaged car without any problems, and this amount is unacceptable! This is not the first car we have bought at an auction, but we have never been scammed to this extent!Since the issue has not been substantively resolved, we will contact the European Consumer Centre or seek legal assistance
The customer service was outstanding. Even though we had an issue with our account, the support representative was professional, understanding, and very helpful throughout the process.
She took the time to review our case, answered all our questions, helped with the account reactivation request, and even provided the copies of the vehicle documents we needed.
We really appreciate the friendly communication and the effort to find a solution. This is exactly the kind of customer service that builds long-term business relationships.
Thank you to the OPENLANE support team for your excellent assistance.

My experience with OpenLane has been, without question, the worst B2B purchasing experience I have ever had.
I am genuinely disappointed by the way this purchase was handled from beginning to end.
The process started with a discrepancy between the VIN shown in the auction description and the VIN visible in the vehicle photos, which I had to point out before the invoice could be corrected.
After payment, I waited for more than a month without receiving any meaningful explanation for the delay. During that time, I was repeatedly advised simply to continue waiting, only to later discover that the vehicle should have been collected weeks earlier but had not been, and no one was able to explain why.
The situation became even more concerning when the vehicle's status was changed to "Not Drivable" without any proactive communication from Openlane. I had to discover this myself and immediately submit a claim to avoid the risk of receiving a vehicle that no longer matched the condition on which I had based my purchase decision. I had knowingly purchased a damaged vehicle, but it had never been described as Not Drivable, which significantly affects both its commercial value and the costs associated with transportation and repair.
Throughout the claim process, responses consistently arrived only at the end of the working day, unnecessarily extending the uncertainty. After I finally requested cancellation of the transaction, a new problem began: the refund process.
On 20.07, I was officially informed by a Claim Specialist that the refund would be received within a maximum of 3–7 business days. That deadline passed without payment.
During this period, I received contradictory information depending on which OpenLane representative I spoke to. Different dates were provided for when the refund had supposedly been processed, my requests for a payment confirmation or proof of transfer were repeatedly ignored, and even live chat conversations were closed without answering my questions.
Eventually, I received what was presented as proof of payment, but it was merely a screenshot containing limited banking details, with no clear confirmation of when the transfer had actually been initiated.
The refund finally arrived on 30.07.2026, after the maximum timeframe I had been officially given.
From the day I paid for the vehicle until the day I recovered my money, almost two months had passed. For a professional B2B platform, this is simply unacceptable.
The entire process—from the incorrect vehicle information, the unexplained logistical delays, the unexpected change of the vehicle's status to "Not Drivable", the claim procedure, and finally the delayed refund—required an excessive number of emails, live chat conversations, and constant follow-up from my side just to obtain basic information.
I expect far better communication, transparency, and internal coordination from a company operating a professional automotive auction platform. Unfortunately, this experience has significantly undermined my confidence in Openlane, and I sincerely hope they improve these aspects for future customers.

The communication was friendly, and I received the information I needed. Overall, I am very satisfied with the customer service experience. Thank you for your assistance!
