The WORST mistake I ever made at my job…

The WORST mistake I ever made at my job was apply for Voya 401k retirement plan. Customer service is trash ,they leave you on hold laughing and joking around while you waiting for an answer. Keep telling me 2 business to get approved it’s have now been 8 business days excluding the weekend. They do mot care about you your account or being urgent about your situation or need yet they are over your money that you are saving

If I could give 0 stars I would

If I could give 0 stars I would.

My experience with Voya Financial has been deeply disappointing. I have been trying to get clear answers about my account and the status of my rollover so I can close my account, but getting in touch with someone who can actually provide answers or resolve the issue has been nearly impossible.

It is extremely frustrating when a company is holding your retirement funds, cannot provide a clear explanation of what is delaying the transaction, and still will not release your money. I should not have to repeatedly follow up just to find out where my funds are and what needs to happen to complete a straightforward rollover. The lack of communication, accountability, and urgency has made this process far more difficult than it should be

Voya customer service is insanely poor--so user unfriendly. Whether its attempting to obtain policy info from their website or trying to speak with an actual human. I've attempted for the last 30 minutes and got absolutely nowhere. Whoever runs their customer service-leadership-needs to be fired and bring people in who have the skills to fix this disaster,

Learing Center Graduates

Took 3 months of working with customer service to rollover my old retirement into my new retirement. They refused to help and often changed my account setting locking me out for doing anything for the entire day. They frequently put me on hold for 5x as long as they "assisted me." They put in an inquiry to their technical team and was told I would receive a call back in 5 to 7 days. 20 days later no phone call and when I called back they stated they called back on the same day. Voya has vibes of The Other guys movie.

Terminated my account on 8/20/26. Was supposed to get my check on the 31st or before. I got 9 pages of summary history on the closed account and no check. Tried to navigate the website to find out what happened and was lead in a circle before giving up.

The story always changes

In January 2026, I received a letter from Voya with a copy of an attached bill saying that they had updated my mailing address and my premium payment was past due. This seemed odd because moved 3 years ago, updated our billing address and had received quarterly billing for over 2 years. It took 4 months to correct their error. In July a get a premium payment reminder for premium due on July 1st. I call them and discover they sent the original bill to the wrong address again. I mail the payment and follow up on line to make sure the payment is received. The payment posted but still showed an outstanding balance of 1.50. So I call. After an hour they tell me they will remove the 1.50 but can’t explain why it appeared. No explanation why the first bill sent to the wrong address. This week a receive a bill for 60.21 for the same billing period. So the 1.50 they said I didn’t owe turned into 60.21 that I had to pay. Another hour on the phone. Can’t explain why it happened. The “mgr” I asked for ,turned out to be a Senior rep, could not reconcile how the amount was calculated agreed to have it reversed but would take 10 day. Refused to put it in writing. Every phone I make is an hour long. Takes forever for them to “review “ the file only to know nothing about my account. So I have re-explain everything every time. The story always changes. One lady told me the billing problems were my fault because I didn’t set up auto pay. Another employee said I was making a big deal overly only $60.00 bill. They are the worst.

Voya not transferring funds

Just came here to warn any trying to get their money - crazy hard. They took another company over (One America) and won't match the interest. Now they won't let me take it out. The won't pay what I had a lifetime contract for - and they won't transfer my money. I have missed accrued interest since May. And they "at present time" there's no way of transfering it to another account?!

Do not trust this company

Do not trust this company, what a scam!
My mother was working as a school bus driver for handicap kids.. they sold her a life insurance policy through her job … when she passed they had every excuse in the book to not pay her policy…. I fought as hard as could for her … these vultures are the scum of the earth.. Don’t ever use them.. my warning to good hardworking people…

No longer works with Quicken

As of 2 months ago Voya no longer provides transaction details to Quicken users. I have had both Quicken and Voya for over 15 years and this failure is a major problem for me. Anyone have a good suggestion to move away from Voya to another company that works well with Quicken?? Doing manual updates monthly is just painful.

How can someone hold our money and yet…

How can someone hold our money and yet REFUSE to send us a statement for our Visa process, that is required for us to stay in a new country…. All we need to continue our life is a piece of paper that declares we are1) in good standing, 2) the current balance, 3)that we are customers.
That’s it. It has been over a month and every single person we talk to says a different thing. We are now late with our paperwork. For new reason. Three sentences. From a bank. That holds our money. It’s absolutely baffling. That being said, they will be losing all that money very soon. We have never had such horrible customer service and been told, over and over, it would be done… and no one does it. Zero accountability.

Why any employer would choose Voyager…

Why any employer would choose Voyager to handle retirement accounts is beyond me. The website is difficult to navigate, and nearly impossible to find even basic information - such as the amount of money in your Roth IRA account (it is clumped into your other accounts, and tough to extricate). Customer service is a joke - after spending a half hour with someone with a foreign accent and not being able to solve a current problem, I asked for a supervisor. Had to hold for over a half hour listening to music, then finally hung up as I needed to join a meeting. Voya is the worst financial outfit I've dealt with over my 70 year life.

On Medical Disability and Voya Delaying Payment

I'm currently on medical disability and Voya has delayed my claim and payment. Instead of emailing to schedule calls, they call at random times. They don't respond to emails. Absolute trash. They (Sabrina from Voya) keeps saying that they need my medical records when they are the one's that have the doctors information to reach out and I signed a release for them to get them.

What a terrible company.Ive tried every which way to borrow funds from my 401K.Ive gotten an error saying I must call the help center for verification.Ive called 2 weeks and they've been of no help.Ive asked to even transfer to their tech department and the rep.said "they don't have that".She was 0 help!
I even asked if we can do the process right then over the phone and you'd swear I'd asked her for a kidney. She tried every way to discourage me and tell me the cons but seems I have no choice but to call back and go that route.I hope I can withdraw all my money and move it over to a credit union. My employer chose this, not me.

I would strongly recommend thinking…

I would strongly recommend thinking twice before relying on Voya Life Insurance.

In the last 18 months, I have had three people in my family pass away who had Voya life insurance policies. Dealing with Voya has been one of the worst parts of an already terrible situation.

In one case, the claim dragged on for roughly 18 months. The beneficiary eventually passed away before the matter was resolved, and Voya still refused to pay the claim. In the other cases, we have had repeated problems getting them to properly address secondary beneficiaries instead of focusing only on the primary beneficiary.

At this point, I have three funeral bills that I am responsible for while life insurance policies that were supposed to help cover these expenses remain unpaid.

The last two claims became so frustrating that I turned them over to the funeral homes and asked them to deal directly with Voya. Even the funeral homes have been unable to get these claims paid.

Based on my experience, if you have a Voya life insurance policy, I would not assume your family is going to receive the money easily when you die. They may be forced to spend months fighting over a benefit you paid premiums for specifically so they would not have to deal with this kind of financial burden.

And if you do end up having to fight them, be prepared for the possibility that you may need an attorney, which means your family needs money available just to fight for money that was supposedly already insured.

Three deaths. Three Voya policies. Three miserable experiences.

Life insurance is supposed to make things easier for a family after someone dies. Voya has done exactly the opposite.

I can’t imagine a worse customer…

I can’t imagine a worse customer service experience than dealing with Voya Financial for a 401(k). Their front-line support is offshored to a call center in the Philippines, and the representatives are completely unhelpful. They can’t answer basic questions.

Pro tip for anyone forced to use Voya: Skip the front-line reps entirely and immediately demand to speak with a manager. Supervisors have far better English fluency and actual knowledge to resolve your issue. Front-line phone support is so useless here that Voya should replace it with AI immediately.

I had the worst experience with this…

I had the worst experience with this insurance. I chose a critical illness policy through VOYA. Unfortunately, the claim process was full of problems.

My husband was diagnosed with a very rare cancer—fibrosarcoma of the lung. I submitted my claim in February 2026, and I didn’t receive payment until just last week, after I filed a complaint with the BBB. I’m now in August 2026. I’m grateful I filed the complaint, because otherwise I don’t believe I would have received the money when I did.

I don’t trust this company. Every time I called for updates, I received different answers. Customer service seemed unaware of what was happening, and I repeatedly had to provide the same paperwork over and over.

I will need to cancel this insurance for future coverage. It isn’t worth the cost, and the stress it caused is not acceptable.

Voya is under criminal investigation

Voya is under criminal investigation. 👺 They have multiple lawsuits against Voya for cheating investors. I put a lot of money into my retirement over decades, … thinking that I could live well after retirement. 😓 My money would’ve been better in the bottom drawer of my cabinet. When you withdraw a partial amount, Voya takes out 20% for taxes out of your withdrawal 😓… my first was when I was 72 years old and my second was when I hit 73 years Voya was supposed to take out Only Voya is under criminal investigation. They have multiple lawsuits against them for cheating investors. I put a lot of money into my retirement thinking that I could live well. They take out 20% for taxes and when I hit 73 we’re supposed to only be 10% but they still took out 20%. They have an administrative fee that it’s about another 25 or 30%. Whatever it is, I can’t believe it it’s legal. If you take out a partial amount and say $1000 how your account… you would end up with about $600. Or less. It’s not what you think at all. The first time I took out some money they sent me a check. It’s supposed to be there in five business days by law and yet it was late. I got direct deposit and again I had my money sent to my Credit Union. They took out an enormous amount of money… taxes, and There administrative cost… but it didn’t get to me in five days and I’m worried about getting any of it at all they always have an excuse I’ve had my Credit Union for 40 years. I’ve never had any problem with it. When I deposit money in it, it is registered within less than a minute immediately typically I figured the direct deposit would go out that Day And would be deposited that day, but it turns out it’s taken more than 10 days which will cost me an additional $100 because the money will be late but it hurts my credit I cannot imagine my company investing money in such having us invest our money horrible operation. I’m afraid they’re going to go bankrupt and it will take all my money with them if I was you, I would not invest anything in Voya do not put your retirement money in there. Do not give them any money at all and pull your money out .only 10% but they still took out 20% now that I’m 73They have an administrative fee charged that’s about another 25 or 30%. As a result , I got direct deposit thinking it would immediately arrive, but I was wrong …. I’ve used the same Credit Union for 50 years and never had any problem. Everything is deposited the moment it sent. I figured with direct deposit the money would go directly into my Credit Union account …. again I had my money sent to my Credit Union. They took out an enormous amount of money… taxes we’re still 20%, and addition to that they took out their administrative cost… but it didn’t get to me in five days and I’m worried about getting any of it at all Voya tells me it’s going to take another five days. The direct deposit will take at least 15 days altogether… Voya always has an excuse 🔺I’ve had my Credit Union for 40 years. I’ve never had any problem with it. I figured the direct deposit would go out that Day And would be deposited that day, but it turns out it’s taken more than 10 days which will cost me an additional $100 because the money will be late AND it hurts my credit I cannot imagine my FORMER company investing money in such SINISTER COMPANY SUCH AS VOYA. WITH THE LAWSUITS AND THE GOVERNMENT INVESTIGATING THEM, I’m afraid they’re going to go bankrupt and Voya will take all my money with them … for those hapless people out there who don’t know, I would not invest anything in Voya 🟥 ❗️ Do not put your retirement money in VOYA. STUDY CAREFULLY FOR A PLACE THAT IS TRUSTWORTHY TO PUT YOUR MONEY . Do not give VOYA any money at all and pull your money out . BY THE WAY, I’D GIVE THEM ZERO STARS IF I COULD.
