Great insurance agent!

Alex Anneker is patient and gave clear explanations to the many questions I had over the course of several phone calls and emails. When it became apparent I needed a type of policy he didn't offer, he immediately gave me references for brokers who could. He seems to care more about helping people than maximizing the amount of money he can make in a day. I highly recommend him.

Review of Nmsmoving

NO ACCOUNTABILITY

Although they were more expensive than most of their competitors, I chose NMS out of Simi Valley because of their personal touch. They sent Jack out to check out my belongings to be moved, and he was friendly and answered my many questions.

However, the day of the move, one of the workers put a large dent in the side of my filing cabinet. I was in the basement at the time so didn't see it happen and was astounded when the worker tried to claim the dent was already there. I bought that filing cabinet new and nothing ever happened to it to cause such a dent.

At the other end of the move, the workers piled two heavy boxes on top of my heirloom china. The china was in a special dish-pack box and had fragile stickers on the top and all four sides.

I wrote to Jack to tell him about these two issues. Although I didn't ask for compensation, I did mention that the large dent in my filing cabinet probably dropped its resale value by $100. I got no response. No apology. Nothing.

Find a different mover.

SCAM

avasflowers.net is impersonal and predatory. Online I saw a Mother's Day bouquet I liked for roughly $60 plus a $10 delivery fee, which seemed reasonable, and I quickly clicked through the next couple of windows to purchase it. My credit card company then messsaged me that I had spent over $100. What?? I went back and saw that a $28 "service fee" had been added on at the end.

In fifty years of buying flowers I have never heard of a "service fee." Clearly this is just a scam to muddle the true price of the flowers and trick customers into paying more than they intended. I immediately phoned customer service, but there was no option to speak to a live person. I was referred to an online form with an option to cancel, which I filled out, then got an email to the effect that a representative would get back to me shortly. None ever did. The flowers arrived a day late and were nothing to write home about. A day later I did get a response from avasflowers.net providing me with the same form I had used to cancel the order. Some help! AVOID THIS BUSINESS LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Update: I was eventually able to reach an avasflowers call center and they refunded my "service fee," but customers shouldn't have to go through that sort of hassle.

7-7-26 Update: Avas replied on 7-3 that they gave me a "full refund." They refunded the service fee only. That is NOT a "full refund."

Highly misleading ad

way.com's sponsored online ad boasts "Book Burbank Airport Parking From $7.75 w/ Free Shuttles." However, the cheapest parking available on its site cost $15.34 daily and lacked a shuttle. I hate this sort of bait and switch.

Dear Glenn,

We’re really sorry to hear about your experience and understand how this could be frustrating.
The pricing mentioned in advertisements typically reflects starting prices based on availability, dates, and specific parking locations, which can vary depending on demand and the type of parking selected. Some locations may offer shuttle services while others may not, and these details are listed on the parking lot’s page during the booking process.

We always recommend reviewing the lot details, pricing, and amenities shown before completing the reservation so you can choose the option that best fits your travel needs. That said, we truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention and will share your feedback with the relevant team for review.

If you have any questions or need help finding a suitable parking option in the future, please feel free to reach out to us at support@way.com or 408-598-3338. Our team is available 24/7 and will be happy to assist you.

Misleading advertising

cheapairportparking advertises, "Lowest rates from $4.95 - Bob Hope Airport Parking." But when I wasted my time entering the required data for my trip, the rate was $16. I hate false advertising like this designed to lead you on.

I had a very simple question

I had a very simple question: Could I return boxes I had bought several years earlier and never used and for which I no longer had the receipt? I spent 10 minutes navigating U-Haul's extremely complex phone tree filled with irritating, repetitive announcements and then holding--only to reach a representative who had no idea how to answer my question.

ADVERTISED AS FREE BUT ISN'T

Like so many online businesses these days they advertise that they are free when in fact they are not. I guess this is now common practice, but I am going to slam every business that wastes my time this way.

You're going to have to subscribe

This site employs the all-to-common grift of offering something "free" only to demand that you subscribe after spending fifteen minutes answering "a few" questions. Of course, you can cancel your free subscription, but who knows in advance how difficult that may be. If sites are going to employ this scam, they should let the user know upfront.

Got a lot of time to waste?

This site takes forever to provide information and it's not as if you can walk away and come back later as the site repeatedly pauses to ask inane questions, often lurid come-ons along the lines of "Joe Blow's records could be shocking! Are you sure you want to proceed?" After you've invested 20 minutes or so, they ask for your information so they can spam you. Don't waste your time on this site!
