111 keeps referring people to the pharmacy when they are showing symptoms which should be taken care of by the doctors!! They need to be educated on what can actually be referred back to the pharmacy instead of sending everyone to the pharmacies straight away
Horrible service, crappy behaviour and shitty talking with sick people!!! Total unethical!!!
Horrible service, disgusting and hostile with a patient, on top of the fact that is treating you suuuper delayed, or not at all!!!! The most miserable service ever...unethically treating you, as you would be some kind of a huligan and not a patient!@! Such service providing and representation to be blocked forever and should be there just to TREAT A PATIENT, and not to make hostile personal and linguistic attacks to the address of a patient!!!! Full of shit messages and NULL proactively in treating you when in an emergency!!! Pathetic... I would never sustain such a stupid behavior and crap talking with people and patients!!!! 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Waiting a month now for my…
Waiting a month now for my prescription…. I doubt it will ever come… pointless service. Waisting tax payers money. Cancel this service and put the money into the NHS process
Horrible
Ok, Last year 2025 ending , I had emergency call as I couldn’t walk stand or sit and had to call 111 as GP was close, the nurse that called to speak to me back was hell rudest person I have ever spoken to and ended the call on me. Called back and some doc’s got back to me 9hrs later and was polite and kind.
Yesterday my son had allergies which is yet to be diagnosed due to long waiting queues , and I called in as I wasn’t sure what todo, I was up all through the night waiting for this call I got the call this morning 5am, and the doctor was rude as hell, this was his questions “do you prefer to wake up ur child or contact ur GP later cos I need ur child to be awake and I will have to asking him direct questions and put him on a video call”I said yes, and he went on again like a broken record with the question comparing me to say no? I accepted after waiting all night let get to the bottom of it, and he said he could see that my GP had sent me link to send in photos of this complaint and I should go back to them as he can’t interfere meanwhile this link was ment to come in 3 weeks ago but only drop in my messages yesterday night fortunately.
When I said but the GP dismissed this symptoms not to be allergies he then said so he can’t help me either.
And then admitted by himself by saying “Its not that I’m being rude but there is nothing I can do for you”
You kept me from 5:30pm to 5am jst to be rude and very impatient and dismissive without listening. I mean I work for the NHS and I’m constantly reminded and know that my patients care comes first but these 111 doctors & nurses keep being very rude, mean as hell and acting with no empathy whatsoever.
Being a healthcare worker shouldn’t make you heartless but see the pain of others and try to help as little as listen and been polite even if you do t have the answers they might be searching for.
111 doesn’t deserve even a star from me.
Call 111 not again never and this is coming from an NHS staff.
Appalling 111 Service
Appalling service
My husband had shingles of the head and contacted 111 as we were away in Wales for a long weekend. After being told by the Welsh 111 that the wait time would be 10 minutes, in reality he had to hold on for 1 hour 37 minutes when he eventually got a reply. The call handler was lovely and took all his details. Then she said that my husband would get a call back from the out of hours GP. The time was around 3.35pm. The doctor called him back at around 22.00 that evening!!!! - my husband missed the call back and tried 87 times to call the GP back but the line was constantly engaged. My husband sent a reply via WhatsApp but to no avail. Is this what we have paid into all of our working lives - a total not fit for purpose 111 service. My husband is in constant pain and will have to wait until we return back home to then wait for an appointment with his GP. Unfortunately there are far too many people using and abusing this service.

URGENT WARNING for extremely clinically vulnerable and disabled adults, particularly age range 30-49 years, males are at a significantly higher risk, nevertheless females are at risk also of being discriminated by; "NHS", including 111, 999, MH Services, and all A&E hospital staff, covering most/all of England; way of Age, Gender, Religion and both physical and mental disabilities.
Just had another "of the exact same disrespectful and extremely insulting experience by the "NHS 111"
Lost count of how many times this keeps happening to me.
If you ever hear the 'Juraid' from NHS111 call service
Be warned, avoid this person with immediate effect.
For you own safety, sanity, self esteem, self-respect, and most importantly, you're not going to have you intelligence blatantly insulted by
'Juraid'
Keep this name in your mind,
I strongly advise and urge anyone to avoid 'Juraid' but if they're unfortunate enough to deal with whoever/whatever this thing 'Juraid' is; then just know he's no intention of being helpful at all.
A poor service.
I don't think the staff either have had enough training or are just not putting it into practice, one referral wasn't made to the pharmacist we were told to go to, the next told just to go to the pharmacist in the hope they would see us, and without a referral they couldn't, overall this service is not good and needs major improvement.

Saturday 31 October 2026 I called the 111 service for some advice around a chest infection I've had for more than 7 day's
The call handler took my details and completed the triage document.
They referred me to the West Pharmacy on Kettering Road the pharmacy was absolutely brilliant .
Where did it go wrong The call handler Said the Pharmacy will assess me and prescribe Antibiotics if necessary.
I challenged the call handler knowing that a pharmacist can not prescribe antibiotics for a chest infection The call handler then challenged myself and said a Pharmacist can prescribe Antibiotics.
Guess what a Pharmacist can not prescribe Antibiotics for a Chest Infection and the 111 call handler's are continuing to send patients that are unwell to the pharmacy The pharmacy have referred me back to the GP
The 111 service is an advice line
Why are you doing this Why are you giving the wrong advice It's frustrating and causing inconvenience for patient care.
West Pharmacy were Brilliant and I thank the pharmacist for their assistance.
As for 111 and the call handlers you have some lessons to learn
Dispense the correct advice at the beginning of the consultation.
You have waisted my time Can't recommend the service
I'm sorry your staff and the triage system is inadequate the call handler wanting to terminate your call as soon as possible to offer the wrong advice to another patient.
No point in making a formal complaint the response will again be inadequate and make excuses covering their failings.
Absolutely disgraceful
Now I sit and wait and be hopeful that I get a referral to the correct medical service
Further update it's now 12 hours after the referral and I've heard absolutely
nothing and they wonder why GP Services and the Hospital are overwhelmed the 111 service is inadequate and dangerous to patients using the service.
If I was older than I am and more vulnerable I'd have made attempts to call the service back However with their unprofessional could not careless attitude I'll leave it
Absolutely appalling your a disgrace to the NHS and medical services
Go to A & E - 111 is dangerously inadequate
After being advised to wait for a clinician to call back within two hours, seven hours later with no callback I realised the whole 111 service is dangerously inadequate for patients. Going to A & E is really your only viable option if you need treatment. If your condition is not immediately Life-threatening the 111 service serves no meaningful purpose and I assume is designed as an attempt to discourage people from going to A & E so that hospital emergency rooms are not permanently overwhelmed.
Discrimination based on nationality?!
I have had good experiences in the past when calling 111 but on this occasion I felt that my wife was being discriminated against. Due to English not being her first language she misunderstood one of the questions that she was asked and answered no. After I explained what the call handler had asked my wife amended her answer to yes. The call handler kept mentioning throughout the rest of the call that she had initially said no to that one specific question as if she had done this on purpose! It should have been obvious to her that English was not her first language but she was acting as if this had been her fault and kept on bringing it up. Eventually I stepped in and told her that she had obviously misheard her question but she then unbelievably mentioned it again! At this point I suggested my wife end the conversation which she did. Had English been my wife's first language I don't believe she would have been subjected to this kind of treatment - hence why I believe this could amount to discrimination which is completely unacceptable!!!

I give 111 a one star but it’s not the staff but the knowledge they should have. I have crohns and they have NO YES NO yes knowledge of this. They even-say take ibuprofen which makes it worse !!!!!!!! My doctor is even worse. I actually cant type how stupid thick 111 staff are in their knowledge of crohns. They should be embarrassed But they arent fussed uts not them that are suffering . Even a consultant said well if having a beer helps okay. They have no f in idea!!!!! It’s now after my discomfort time AND WHY IM BOT BAD IS COS IVE had a beer.! What crap advice. They have no f in idea. Reeducate them. NIT sack as its not rheir fault but the managers sack him !!!!!!!!!!!!
Called today in agony from a toothache
Called today in agony from a toothache, can’t get dentist appointment, every morning call sorry all appointments are gone at 9am, called 111 in agony, advised go to your dentist in the morning, yeah like that’s been working
I wanted to book a minor injuries…
I wanted to book a minor injuries appointment. Next time I'll pick a book and a blanket and prepare myself for an 18hr wait in A&E because sitting waiting is better for me personally than the anxiety of even thinking about calling 111 again
A complete waste of precious time.
Phoned midday to ask where I could get emergency treatment for a detached retina. After answering dozens of questions including could I lift my arms, and was I bleeding, they told me they didn’t have the answer I needed, but that a clinician would call.
A paramedic called at 5 pm and said that he would refer me to my out of hours Doctor service and they would call me back before 8 pm. The Nurse called at 11:30 pm, 2:30 am, and 3:30 am. Now bearing in mind that I had explained that I have ME and have severely limited energy, what on earth were they doing calling at this time of night? My phone was on do not disturb so I didn’t hear them and so I’ve now been discharged. What an utterly useless experience and a complete waste of everybody’s time. I now have to see an optician as an emergency appointment and we’ll see where this takes me. I am totally exhausted. Hopefully, I won’t lose my sight.
I contacted 111
I contacted 111 offered & appointment miles away but was to ill to drive, so was told they would arrange a phone appointment, but I was told there was a 6 hour wait. I received a call 12 hours later asking if my symptoms had got worse & someone would call. I contacted them after 18 hours from the first call & was told some should call in the next hour.
I have been waiting 25 hours for an…
I have been waiting 25 hours for an emergency prescription call back, I called them 6 times yesterday and 3 times already today, probably more, all I get is the same generic answer of it will be within the hour or they are really busy at the moment, don’t mean to be funny but really, I could have gone to A & E and been seen quicker but I thought 111 was supposed to be better, angry is an understatement, my pharmacist didn’t bother to tell me I didn’t have all my medication on Friday and they were shut when I realised. 111 should not be a thing, they are earning money for doing absolutely NOTHING, what a waste of taxpayers money. Out of hours GP should be scrapped as well, sat in your cosy office with your cuppa playing on your phone rather than returning calls to patients. Shame on you both.
Biggest waste of taxpayer money
Biggest waste of taxpayer money. Type 1 diabetic. My cgm stopped working. My back up failed to load. My 2nd backup glucose monitor didnt work. Even after getting batteries. I was 50 miles from home. Called 111. Got told ill get an emergency prescription. What did the pharmacy tell me? Call 111 as they can only provide emergency prescriptions for items already in my account. Called again. GP informed me he cannot help and dared ti say “if you need any help, call us again”.
No way to check my sugar. Only way was to find a pharmacy/boots that actually sell these private. £100 with strips.
Hope this country finally wakes up and sorts their shit out.
I have progressive MS 66 years of age…
I have progressive MS 66 years of age and am now unable to walk. I rang 111 at 7.30pm on Saturday telling them that my immune system is adversely affected by Cladbridine and currently have COVID and would like the antiviral drug. I understand as I had this drug from my GP last time I had COVID that it should be taken within 48 hours of starting with COVID. Being a Saturday I rang 111 and was asked lots of seemingly silly questions like have I lost blood etc. Told that a clinician would call me! At 12am I received a phone call apologizing for the delay and giving me the opportunity to cancel my 111 request!! Total joke and 11 am Sunday no phone calls. I feel 111 must cost a fortune to run with lots of admin people being overpaid to call and try and excuse the very poor service. My request for anti viral drug would take a GP 2 mins to approve!! As it is I have received nothing! No care whatsoever and I am sure all 111 tick boxes are ticked. I wonder how many people die waiting for the promised phone call???
Excellent from start to finish
Absolutely pointless service
Absolutely pointless service . Waste of NHS money tell everyone to go to a&e when we as patients know a&e won't see us for at least 12hrs there are people having heartattacks siting in the waiting area with drips .
I just wanted to see the out of hours doctor but they wouldn't let me and said go to A&E
