Have twice tried to receive funds owed

Have twice tried to receive funds owed. The first time funds were returned to company. They were resent and I used my driver's license as ID. I was told it was expired even though it clearly states the expiry is 2030. They have failed to respond to my, now, three messages and fail to allow my access to my own funds. I will be contacting Consumer Protection and the BBB for a resolution

Hey, Heather!

When it comes to verifying your identity, be sure to check here: https://wi.se/verifyyourid for more info on what types of documents we can accept, based on the verification type you're facing. Reason being, there can be some scenarios where we aren't able to accept a driver's license for a particular verification type, which might explain why the document was rejected, despite being otherwise valid.

However, if that doesn't help or if you'd like us to take a closer look, then use our contact form here: https://wi.se/help to get in touch. It's worth mentioning that we use a few different no-reply addresses to send notifications, so direct replies to those wouldn't reach us — The contact form will put you in touch with our dedicated team, though, and we'll be happy to get this sorted.

When I met WISE the 1st time 5 years…

When I met WISE the 1st time 5 years ago I was sceptic because there are many app to transfer money abroad. But when I found out how quick and easy it is to transfer money to my homecountry n another country to family I became enthusiastic about this. No vists anymore to my bank n waiting times n costs to transfer abroad n no time to wait until its in my bank in my homecountry.

This is the most efficient way, the costs are ok n no waiting times anymore. Just in some easy n simple handlings. Thank you so much WISE for making it so easy for me.

Im from Europe and I live and work for years in Asia.

Thank you!

I love everything about Wise

I love everything about Wise. It is easy to set up. I was able to put money into different currencies while saving for my holiday and when the exchange rates were really good, then using that currency to pay for excursions before getting there, this meant I wasn't losing money in the exchange. I used my Wise card in 7 different countries including ATM's and EFTPOS with no issues. Public transport was a breeze with a tap on tap off. I did have it in a protective sleeve to prevent skimming and had no issues. Even after my holiday, I am using my card for online overseas purchases now, it saves on exchange rates and is not associated with my everyday accounts, as well as saving for my next holiday. I highly recommend.

Hey there Rjonas,

We can assure you that our reviews are from real customers sharing their actual experiences, and we take authenticity very seriously.

We also want to be as transparent as possible about our pricing. We always show you our fees upfront before you make a transfer, and we use the real mid-market exchange rate with no hidden markups to keep costs as low as possible. You can always check and compare our fees anytime here: https://wi.se/pricing

If you're having trouble with the app or if there's anything specific we can help clear up, please reach out to us at wi.se/contact so we can help.

We like convenience & security features

We like the convenience & flexibility that Wise offers for overseas spending. However finding atms with no fees is almost impossible so we rarely use it for cash withdrawals. The notifications received each time the card is used makes us feel secure.

My account was suspended with over USD 30,000 and NZD 30,000 still inside

This has been one of the most frustrating financial experiences I have ever had.

Wise suddenly suspended my account while it still contained more than USD 30,000 and around NZD 30,000. Since then, I have been unable to access my funds or receive any clear explanation about when or how my money will be returned.

What makes the situation even worse is that there appears to be no effective way to contact customer support. The website directs you to the Support Centre, but to access it you must first log in. Since my account has been suspended, I cannot log in, which means I cannot even contact support. It feels like I have been completely locked out while my money remains inaccessible.

This is an unacceptable experience for a financial services company. When customers trust you with significant amounts of money, there should always be a reliable and accessible support channel, especially when accounts are restricted.

At this point, I simply want my funds returned and a clear explanation of what is happening. Until this issue is resolved, I cannot recommend Wise to anyone who plans to hold large balances in their account.

Update: My funds have now been inaccessible for 2weeks, and I am still waiting for a meaningful response. This situation has caused enormous financial stress and has seriously damaged my trust in Wise.

Hey there,

We know that having your account closed is frustrating, but we never do so without a reason. Account closure is usually a result of a conflict with our Terms of Use: https://wi.se/accountdeactivation. As a regulated financial instituition, we can't share the exact reason of the deactivation, due to how we're regulated.

If you disagree with the decision and if there's any money in your account upon closure, you can file for an appeal to have your account reviewed and request for refund — more info in the link I've shared earlier. Please know that if we've made the final decision to close an account, we'll not be able to reverse the decision or offer any services anymore.

When we close an account with money in it, we have to complete due diligence checks. Once they’re completed, we’ll get in touch about refunding your money. Rest assured that your money is safe.

For further help, please contact us at http://wi.se/help, by clicking "Trouble logging in?", select an issue, click "I still need help", and then "Contact us”

We use WISE to make international bank transfers…

We use WISE to make international bank transfers and find them fast and safe. Fees are way cheaper than other options. On a recent overseas trip to Portugal and UAE, the WISE card worked perfectly in ATM's and paying for purchases. Others we travelled with who had credit cards were paying high fees at ATM's. Highly recommend WISE.

Excellent Transfer Speeds and Low Fees. Just Waiting for Debit Card Availability in the Dominican Republic

I've had a great experience using Wise for international money transfers. The transfer speed is excellent, and the fees are among the most competitive I've found. Receiving payments through Deel, which partners with Wise, has been smooth and reliable, and I appreciate how transparent the pricing is. However, I personally stopped receiving my payments through Wise because the lack of a debit card made it less practical for my day-to-day needs.

The only reason I'm giving 2 instead of 5 stars is that Wise still doesn't offer its debit card in the Dominican Republic, where I live. Meanwhile, other financial services like Pana already provide debit cards in my region, and Deel itself offers a debit card to eligible users.

It would be great to see Wise expand debit card availability to more countries, especially the Dominican Republic. There are a large number of Dominicans using Wise, and many freelancers here receive payments through Wise through platforms like Deel, Upwork etc... I truly believe Wise has the potential to dominate the Dominican Republic market if it introduced its debit card here. It would make an already excellent service even more valuable for users who rely on Wise for their day-to-day finances.

If Wise makes its debit card available here, I'd happily update my review to 5 stars. Until then, it's still one of the best services for fast, affordable international transfers.

Hi Smyrno,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us! We're thrilled to hear that you've had such a great experience with our transfer speeds, competitive fees, and transparent pricing. It’s also fantastic to know that receiving your payments seamlessly through our partnership with Deel has been smooth and reliable for your workflow.

We completely understand your frustration regarding the current lack of a Wise debit card in the Dominican Republic. We recognize how important daily convenience is—especially for freelancers and remote professionals receiving international payments—and we know how much easier a debit card makes managing day-to-day finances.

While we don't have an immediate timeline for when Wise debit cards will be available in the Dominican Republic, expanding our card coverage to more regions (including the DR) is something our team is actively working toward as we continue to navigate local regulations and infrastructure. You can join the waitlist here: https://wi.se/joincardwaitlist in the meantime.

We truly appreciate your honest feedback and your support for Wise in the region. Feedback like yours helps us prioritize where we need to grow next, and we hope to be able to offer you a debit card in the future so we can earn those final stars!
