Synthesis gave not only my daughter, but me as well, the tools, confidence, and even enthusiasm to learn math.

Our daughter is on the autism spectrum, and she truly thrived with a program that builds on her strengths instead of focusing on her mistakes. One of her biggest challenges has always been retaining previously mastered skills while moving on to new concepts. With Synthesis, I never felt like she was being left behind—it always seemed to “catch her” exactly where she needed support.

We also loved the flexibility. We could move between different math topics whenever we wanted, which was incredibly helpful during periods of burnout. That freedom kept learning fresh and enjoyable rather than frustrating.

She completed the entire program spending just 15 minutes a day on lessons and games. As a homeschooling parent who lacks confidence in teaching math, Synthesis was an incredible gift. It made math feel approachable for both of us.

I recommend Synthesis to everyone I know. I honestly haven’t found anything else quite like it.

Have tried lots of other math apps with my 7 year old daughter, and while some of them are able to keep her attention and are decent enough for practice… they really don’t do a great job of actually teaching new concepts.
Honestly, Tutor is just on a different level in this respect. I love the way that the lessons are designed to be super interactive, adaptable, and that they are constantly getting her to think deeply about what she is learning.
The Tutor also has a wonderfully warm tone, which my daughter absolutely loves and we are always excited when we log in to find new lessons for her to explore!

My son has both dyslexia and dyscalculia and keeping him on grade level has involved nonstop tears and frustration....until we tried this. He asks daily (on his own) to do his lessons with this program. This has NEVER happened. We have spent years and a lot of money on various workbooks, programs, tools, and websites. None of it has ever worked for him or helped build his confidence. There has not been a single tear shed doing Synthesis lessons which in itself is amazing. A few days ago he said, "I never understood ______ until today." Our daughter does not struggle in the same ways but despite being very "meh" about math prior to this, she also loves the program. The kids are now competing with each other....to do math....on summer break. Two different kids with varying levels of ability & comprehension are both loving this. My husband and I are absolutely blown away. If you're on the fence about investing into something else, I swear I don't think you'll regret this one.

I'll leave the original review below, but I've adjusted my review based on the fact that someone senior at Synthesis reached out to me overnight and was both transparent and respectful.

It's a good product. It just needs to be scalable along with your child's development and it's not that at the moment.

Started out loving it, but now I'm angry. Bought a 1yr subscription for my 7yr old daughter. She went through the content in 3 months. You'd think she'd then go through to content for 8yr old but no.

I ask customer support (via email) and got a reply from "Desislava Sapunova from Synthesis" who has poor english and omits important words like "on hold" for my account in his reply.

Basically, the system doesn't upgrade you to the next age/capability bracket after you finish the level of content you register them for. So you're not buying a 1yr subscription with upgrading capability as your child progresses, you're buying a age/stage set of content that finishes when your child does.

Desislava's solution was to suspend my account until they have more content for that age bracket. But my daughter has completed that level so how does more of the same improve her capability.

I complained and requested a 9 month refund and have ben totally ignored.

So the tool works. I liked it. My daughter loved doing it. But it's shallow, there's no valuable customer support and I feel ripped off.

Subscription has now been cancelled and I've lost that money I gave over in good faith.

Well, This app has an amazing concept that focuses on something rarely emphasized in other camps or children’s apps: building confidence. The program does an excellent job of encouraging participants, helping them believe in themselves, and teaching them how to work effectively with others.

What I especially appreciate is the positive and supportive environment they create. In addition, the weekly feedback provided to parents is extremely valuable. It allows us to track progress, understand our child’s strengths and areas for growth, and stay involved in their development.

Overall, this is a thoughtful and impactful program that goes beyond entertainment by helping children develop important life skills such as confidence, teamwork, and self-esteem.

My son cannot get past the division assessment although he tried multiple times. It is not due to his division skill but the software has a bug and never moves pass assessment stage. The software is slow, the voice (any voice) is irritating because of the mannerism but you cannot switch it off. After a few weeks my child doesn`t want to play with it.

for my six year old, this is the first "app" or digital resource that really supports her learning, this is so dynamic it actually teaches me about teaching. I wish these people enormous success so they can keep changing education and building a better learning next generation.

Wonderful app. Explains it so clearly and the only one my child is willing to use. It makes maths fun, adapts to theor answers and responses, and makes them feel positive even if they get an answer wrong.

I’ve watched my grandsons try a lot of math apps. This one is great! They are actually understanding the new concepts, and they don’t get frustrated or shut down. I love seeing them feel proud of themselves instead of stressed about math.

The new tutor interface is bad
First, we feel the storytelling and student engagement have declined. The previous interface used compelling narratives—ranging from cavemen to space travel—to explain mathematical concepts and show their real-world purpose. The current version feels like a dry computer program that fails to captivate a child's imagination.

Second, the personal connection to the user has been lost. Previously, the tutor addressed the user by name, welcomed him, and offered personalized congratulations. These small details helped the kid feel a genuine connection to the platform, which is now missing.

Our kid previously loved Synthesis and found it incredibly engaging. However, without the storytelling and personalization, he is now reluctant to use it, finding it no different from his standard schoolwork. As parents, we find it difficult to justify continuing the program unless these areas are addressed. We have spoken with other parents who have expressed similar concerns.

Synthesis Tutor is extremely limited and basic. Any above average student can complete the available math content within a few weeks, yet the app is sold as a full year subscription. After that, there is nothing meaningful to progress into. No advanced topics, no adaptive depth, no real learning path.

There is no visible or practical AI-driven personalization, feedback, or progression. It feels like a static set of basic exercises wrapped in marketing language, not an actual AI backed learning system.

Support is another major issue. We reached out multiple times via email and received no response at all. No help, no guidance, no acknowledgment. For a paid educational product aimed at kids, that is unacceptable.

Overall, this app does not justify its price. Minimal content, no progression, no real AI, and zero customer support. Very disappointed and would not recommend.

Was hoping that Synthesis would be a useful program (expensive), but after issues with lack of support and mic problems it's clear that this app is on autopilot with little to NO effective customer support. Don't waste your child's time or your money here.

The synthesis tutor has been great for my son. He's only 3 and needs help understanding the prompts but loves the games and seems to be developing a basic understanding of math fundamentals. and even his comprehension..

But the main reason for this review is to shout out the customer service team. I made a payment error and Georgi was so prompt, efficient and understanding in rectifying the whole situation. I've dealt with companies in the past that just seem to pass problems along endlessly. georgi and the team were so different. I got a response immediately, the problem was relayed and solved immediately and i didnt have to chase up emails or explain my problem to multiple people. well done team. very satisfied customer

Ipad app doesnt works.. asks to play music and screen goes blank.. u cant use app without going pass the screen.. not for sure elon musk quality. I think they are lying...

Was looking forward to it, however initial experience has been:

- microphone input by the child rarely gets recognized by the system (I've tried this on 3 different computers)

- does not comprehend or compute the the audio input (even simple yes or no )

- takes a long time to recognize inputs (sometimes up to 1 minute to process)

My daughter is much more confident in dealing with difficult teams work. Collaboration is the hardest part of working with a team and this "game" is great for helping kids work out how to express their opinion, work through difficult team members and get to the goal with collaboration. Support has been timely and easy to use.

We bought into the company's credentials and vision of cultivating the student voice and critical thinking that Elon Musk would have endorsed at SpaceX- while using modern technology as a medium. Using both Synthesis Tutor and Teams over the past two months - the AI Math tutor has been amazing and the Teams' modern mission setup has been very engaging (besides the occasional session glitches, device and network requirements to join). The Teams sessions are supposed to be student-led, with parents taking a hands-off role and with changing anonymous mentors hopping in and out of sessions. Listening in from the room next door, every session is different: from children playing great in a team, to a dominant child taking over, to kids being confused by the prompt and rather talking about anything else on their minds. The play sessions cater much more to typically male interests while the discussion sessions are very female-dominated. That's why we made it a requirement for our younger son to also attend the discussions, even though many times it is hard for him to bring in his voice in the presence of more dominant communicators, or preferring to think and listen to other opinions rather than answering complex critical topics on a schedule. That was until today. We received an email from their so-called "Head of Coaching" with the subject line "Child's_Name Behavioral Issues at Synthesis" alerting us that our child had been "notably disruptive to teammates". As a parent, that is when you begin to care - what happened? Below that two screenshots of anonymous mentor notes starting with "Kicked Child's_Name" (fully inappropriate but apparently meaning they had removed our child from the session) and merely listing a handful of recent discussion sessions where our child started fidgeting, seemed tired or did not know what to say during a discussion session or had tried to make a personal connection with his team by showing a magic trick. Looking up this faceless educational team, it appears that while the program's vision, founders' backgrounds and tech stack are great, Synthesis ended up hiring the same under-qualified, woke, California-based liberal public-system educators ("coaches" / "mentors") that Elon Musk so much tried of avoid by starting his own private school - and that would never stand a chance getting hired (let alone leading a team) at one of his companies. In the end, Synthesis was a valuable educational experience: Carefully vet the people entrusted with your children - and if a company does a great job hiding their team and qualifications, they probably have a good reason for doing so. The vision sounds good, but execution is questionable. Low 1 star until replaced by AI

Not worth it. For far cheaper, you can get better instruction and lessons with other platforms. The lessons are also way too easy for each grade so my child is bored. Listening along with him, it seems like he lessons are for two grades below his own level, even though you put in what age/grade the student is in.

My 12 yo son looks forward to working with Synthesis every day.
