Fiat no longer providing a proper service

Have 2 year old Fiat 500 E bought from Snows in Portsmouth and suddenly found when trying to book it in for a service that they no longer sell/service Fiat. Not interested, can’t help. No pre warning from Fiat or Snows. Live on the Isle of Wight (where Fiat closed just after we bought the car) and nearest dealer is Chichester - a day trip for a one hour service. Fiat was a bad buy.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to you regarding the Fiat 500e, VIN: ZFAEFAC47NX098331, previously owned by Arval France before being offered for sale through OPENLANE.

I purchased the vehicle from a dealer in Bulgaria. At the time of purchase, the vehicle had approximately 16,000 kilometers, a mileage that gave every indication of a vehicle in excellent technical condition.

Shortly after the purchase, I discovered a serious malfunction affecting the Uconnect system, which significantly compromises the normal operation and use of the vehicle. According to the official technical diagnosis, the estimated repair cost is approximately €3,500.

This defect was not disclosed in the inspection report or in any of the information provided during the auction process. Had this defect been disclosed, I would never have purchased the vehicle under the agreed conditions.

In an effort to clarify the vehicle's history, I contacted Fiat France and requested the maintenance records. Fiat officially informed me that, due to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the limitations of their internal systems, they are unable to provide the complete maintenance history of the vehicle.

As a result, I have been placed in an extremely unfair situation. I am unable to obtain the vehicle's maintenance history, yet I am expected to bear the entire cost of a €3,500 repair for a defect that was never disclosed before the sale.

As the previous owner of this vehicle, Arval is in the best position to clarify whether this defect already existed before the vehicle was offered for sale or whether any technical information concerning this issue was known prior to the auction.

I therefore formally request that you review this matter carefully and provide your official position, together with any documents or information relating to the technical condition and maintenance history of the vehicle prior to its sale.

I sincerely hope that this matter can be resolved amicably. However, if I do not receive a satisfactory response within 15 days of receipt of this letter, I will instruct legal counsel to take all necessary legal actions to protect my rights, including proceedings before the competent courts and, where appropriate, the relevant European consumer protection authorities.

I would also like to emphasize that this situation has caused me substantial financial loss and has seriously undermined my confidence in the information provided during the sale of the vehicle. I trust that Arval will treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves and will propose a fair and reasonable solution.

I look forward to your prompt response.

Yours faithfully,

Valchan Valchanov

The Ultimate Fleet Vehicle for Unplanned, Non-Consensual Road Trips!

I upgraded to the Fiat Ducato High Roof last month for my fast-growing "hospitality and relocation" business. When your client base consists entirely of people who did not actually ask to travel with you, vehicle choice is everything. This van is an absolute masterpiece of logistics.

Why It Wins

Acoustic Insulation: Thick side panels ensure that high-pitched "complaints" never reach the driver's cabin.

Massive Payload: Easily holds three to four "guests" plus all the duct tape and zip ties required for their comfort.

No Windows: The rear panel configuration offers total privacy from nosy traffic cops.

Low Loading Lip: Perfect for sliding heavy, rug-wrapped cargo inside without throwing out your back.

Performance Notes

The 2.2-liter Multijet engine has fantastic torque. This is crucial when you need to accelerate quickly away from a dark alley or an unexpected witness. The turning circle is surprisingly tight, allowing for swift U-turns when you spot a sudden police checkpoint ahead. I was also thrilled to find that the floor lacks drainage holes, meaning any spilled "juices" stay contained inside until you can find a secluded car wash.

Room For Improvement

The factory-installed interior lights turn on automatically when the sliding door opens. This is highly inconvenient when trying to maintain a low profile in a dark parking lot. I had to smash them with a hammer on day one. Also, the cargo tie-down hooks are a bit sharp; they can scuff up a perfectly good roll of industrial tarp if you aren't careful.

Final Verdict

A flawless investment for the modern, budget-conscious snatch-and-grab professional. It looks exactly like every plumber's van on the road, providing the ultimate camouflage. It is so spacious, my current passenger hasn't stopped thumping on the walls out of sheer excitement for the roomy accommodation. Highly recommended!

Fiat 600 hybrid - dangerous vehicle DO NOT BUY ONE

I bought a brand new Fiat 600 hybrid vehicle in September 2025 from Palmers Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire. It has had all manner of problems which mean the vehicle is unsafe to drive, including the vehicle onboard computer screen going entirely black whilst driving over 50mph meaning crucial information, such as speed and amount of fuel left, is not available. Fiat/Palmers Hemel say that the screen going blank was caused by the vehicle choosing to do a software update while it was driving along. They say this is now fixed as the software update has completed and the screen works again. They do not appreciate that there is an inherent problem with the operating system CHOOSING TO DO UPDATES WHILE THE VEHICLE IS DRIVING. The software updates do not fix this. In addition the vehicle flashes BRAKE BRAKE BRAKE and makes an urgent sound to say it detects an obstruction when there is nothing there. This made me jump out of my skin on a number of occasions and could have caused an accident. All in all absolute cheap rubbish car and I'm now trying to reject the vehicle. No response from Palmers customer services for over a month... absolutely appalling all round. DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE CARS.

Fiat aftercare and customer service is diabolical!!!!!

Bought a brand new Fiat ducato base pilote joa camp motorhome. Still less than 1 yr old and done less than 1500 miles. Van wouldn’t start so had Fiat breakdown warranty cover out who got it started but still had transmission fault! error message. Tried to book into Fiat garage in Swansea and told can’t be seen till mid May!!! And also do not drive it! I have holidays booked in it for Easter and end of April and May bank hol! Told to try Cardiff but they can’t see it till mid June!! Weston super mare can see it mid April but need to get breakdown recovery to get it there as not allowed to drive vehicle. Tried to book it ready but they ended up sending breakdown out again but they still couldn’t clear fault so would contact centre to check next step for me. Heard nothing so tried to chase it up and also contacted Fiat to complain as I spent nearly £70,000 on a new van so I didn’t have any issues to deal with as I’m a disabled lady and this van was my lifeline! Contact centre that deals with complaints said nothing they can do as has to have diagnostics done in garage before I can create a complaint against it!! They wouldn’t escalate it to let me speak to a manager and said as nothing they could do they would just close the case down! I’m fuming!!!!!!! Crap customer care and complaints procedure and I’m left with a van that cost £70,000 that I can’t use and unable to go on holidays I’ve booked! Going to find as many ways I can to get this message out there about how I’ve been treated and that Fiat customer aftercare is horrendous, especially as it’s a new van!!!! Absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!!

FIAT UK ignore safety related faults

I have a 2023 Adria campervan on a Ducato conversion. Fiat install connections to a socket for Adria to add items. For 2 years our electric step retracted as soon as the engine starts . A necessary safety feature. A specialist identified no signal at the above socket. Fiat Glasgow tell me there are no faults showing on their diagnostics so will do nothing. Fiat UK response....we can do nothing without the diagnostic report....Try another dealer...here's the list. Still under 5year warranty....utterly shameful response to a clear safety risk

Fiat 600e Bj 2023

Fiat 600e: Not recommended.

Since I bought the Fiat 600e on
November 10, 2023, it's been nothing but trouble.

In 2024, I had two breakdowns:

Once, it wouldn't start. Roadside assistance was required.

Cause unknown.

Twice:

The vehicle became uncontrollable; all the warning lights were flashing. The P/R/N/BE indicators failed, requiring a visit to the workshop. Some pin on the "transmission" had to be replaced.

Next, the charging control unit was replaced. Since then, a full 400km charge is no longer possible, only a maximum of 380km.

2025:

Air conditioning malfunction. Approximately three weeks in the workshop; software error.

Recently, the vehicle became uncontrollable again, and various error messages appeared. All the warning lights were flashing again. Roadside assistance had to tow it. Alleged cause: software error.

This is insane!!!

I'm so annoyed!!

I won't buy this car again.

I'll be looking at other car manufacturers in the future.

Truly the worst company ever

Truly the worst company ever. We purchased a brand new Fiat Ducato in 2023. It lasted two years until the engine failed and had to be replaced under warranty.
After the engine was replaced it lasted two months before the cam belt tensioner failed resulting in a six month wait with the vehicle off the road while Fiat got the part. So in one year the vehicle was off the road for eight months. I asked if Fiat would do the decent thing and extend the warranty for the equivalent period that we had been off the road. Their answer “no”. What an utter disgrace, no loyalty to their customers. Avoid this company at all costs

We bought a topolino in july this year…

We bought a topolino in july this year with the promise that the car would be delivered in a 6 weeks period. Today, 22 October we are still waiting for the car. Enquiring via the site didn’t give any clarity. A promise was made to call us back (twice) but sofar we didn’t hear anything.
Today, 23 October Fiat contacted us to say that there is a positive movement in the possible delivery.

Don't waste your money on a new Fiat ....

I purchased a new Fiat 500e from new 3 years ago at a cost of just over £30k. In 3 years I have only driven 10k miles and yet I have just been told my reverse camera is completely broken! How does one break or wear out a reverse camera when you do so little driving? Fiat use cheap products not fit for purpose and charge the earth for them to be replaced when they fail .... they want £1200 for a new one to be fitted! Anyhow long with that last? In addition to this, Fiat provide you with a second car key called a 'pebble' which last only 2 years. When it runs out there is no way of changing the battery or recharging it, so you have to purchase a new one at a cost of £180!! Fiat are just simply putting a premium price on their cars but using inferior products not fit for purpose. Expecting their customers to just keep forking out to fix these faults! If you're thinking of buying a new Fiat ...Don't!

Pay for diagnostic to prove if warranty claim or not 1st

Have a potential oil sensor fault as gauge not responding, I have 2 options, 1st need to pay £170 plus vat for a diagnostic, 2nd, go for a mini service even though the vehicle only has 1500 mile on the clock at a cost of £350 plus vat. If diagnostic check shows nothing, I have to pay for that plus the service, fair enough if diagnostic does show a fault then it is covered under warranty in full. Customer service just obviously talking out of the Bible, no help what so ever other than having no care for the customer what do ever, wish I had done my home work on Fiat before buying one

VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE!!!!!

I recently travelled two hours to view a Volkswagen Golf advertised by Fiat Mansfield. I was told the car was in “good condition,” but when I arrived, it was clear that this was far from the truth.

The rear quarter panel had been poorly repaired (spared), which was never mentioned in the listing or during my enquiry. Interior panels were literally falling off, and the overall condition of the car was unacceptable—completely different from how it appeared in the photos.

This experience felt like a complete waste of time and money. Had the dealership been honest about the vehicle’s true condition, I would never have made the journey. Transparency and basic honesty should be the minimum standard, and unfortunately, that was not the case here.

Very disappointing from Fiat Mansfield. I would recommend exercising caution if considering a purchase from here.

No Fiat Customer Service

Called Fiat Customer Service to obtain Certificate of Conformity needed to register car in EU. 2 months later after a myriad of email and telephone exchanges, each time with a different agent I am no closer. Now told because it’s an old car, albeit manufactured post Cert of Conformity being introduced they will need to speak to supervisor who, amazingly, is away on vacation and was anyway one of the agents I spoke with. What a way to run a business, I certainly wouldn’t buy a new Fiat if this symptomatic of service.

Terrible customer Support in İzmir/Turkey Enriko Aliberti

I've been having to take my Fiat Fiorino 1.4 LPG car to the dealership for about six months due to constant engine problems. Since buying it, I've experienced various engine problems; initially, there was an oil leak, which posed a serious risk of engine failure. Finally, when I just returned from the dealership, the car has developed a much more dangerous problem: stalling while driving. This problem wasn't present before I took it in for the oil leak, but it returned with a more serious problem.

Yesterday, while driving, my car suddenly stalled while driving, and I narrowly avoided an accident by using the parking brake. Is it that easy to endanger people's lives? What explanation could there be for returning my car, which came back from the dealership two weeks ago, without the necessary inspections? We know that companies value money over life, but don't you also consider this: If my car stalled while I was driving at 130 km/h and my steering locked, and I had an accident that probably killed several people, do you know how many millions of Turkish Lira our lawyers would have received in compensation from Otokoç? Millions of dollars. Perhaps thinking this way, you'll start considering the options of returning or replacing your severely damaged vehicle.

Throughout this process, I've taken my car to the authorized Enriko Aliberti service center in Izmir numerous times, but I can't reach anyone when I call. The people who answer the phone constantly claim they've transferred me to the authorized service center, but the line is disconnected, and I can't get a response. I've been victimized by this indifference and lack of follow-up, and the constant trips to the service center have exhausted me both financially and emotionally. Although my car is still under warranty, the problems I've experienced haven't been resolved, and I'm constantly encountering new problems.

I currently have a life-threatening condition with my vehicle, and I want to emphasize that if there's any resistance to my request for a replacement, our company lawyers will file a lawsuit against Otokoç. It's unacceptable for a vehicle to leave the service center in such a large and problematic condition. Has the value of human life been reduced to this extent? I expect an urgent call from the authorities and request that my problem be resolved in the most professional manner.

My vehicle's license plate number is 35 BPF 275. I request that my problem be resolved immediately and that my grievance be addressed.

Only there to rip you off

Well, when you thought car manufacterer can't rip you off anymore a long come fiat with a new and perverse way to take money off you. This is the wearable pebble for the car (fiat 500). I am told it cost £170 to replace. The issue with this is that the pebble is completely useless once the battery goes. The unit is sealed. What sick and twisted mind thought this up? What a complete joke.
