Unhelpful Customer Care.
CITROEN CARS SHOULD NOT BE BOUGHT. THEY ARE AN UNCARING AND UNHELPFUL COMPANY TO DEAL WITH.
If I could give less than one star I would. I am angry beyond belief with how I have been treated by Citroen Customer Care. It should be renamed Citroen Customer UNCARING. I bought a Citroen C3Aircross in may 2025. It was less than 2 years old with 2000 miles on the clock. STILL UNDER WARANTY.
In early December the car locked the steering wheel and it could not be started, and it had to be taken in on a truck to Charles Hurst Citroen in Belfast.
It is now 2 months later and they have been unable to repair it.
I requested my money back or a fair price for it. I was told that they would give me a price for it reflecting the condition that it is in. Unrepaired and un drivable. They said they couldn't resell it in the condition that it is in. UNBELIEVABLE.. The car by the way has only 6k miles driven.
I was told to contact Citroen Customer Care., which I did. CUSTOMER CARE TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD DO NOTHING FOR ME....
I AM NOW LEFT WITH A CAR THAT I CANT DRIVE OR CANT SELL.
Citroën questionable air bag system
A Citroën vehicle with a questionable airbag safety system. I reported the issue to Citroën, and they said that according to the pictures, the front of the car is intact, which is why the airbags did not deploy. Please look at the photos and give me your own assessment.
Disabled basic features and blatant lying
We got a C3 Aircross almost 3 years ago, the finance deal is up early 2026 and we will 100% be returning the car.
Lies by sales team
- It has snow mode and can handle ice
- It has adaptive high beams
- It has blind spot detectors
- ALL service costs are covered under the service plan.
Now lets pick these apart shall we?
Snow mode and Ice - This car has no snow mode or ice control that works what so ever. We told the sales rep we were moving to the Scottish highlands and would need an SUV that could handle snow. He assured us this car was built for that kind of terrain... first light flurry of snow or ice and she wheelspins no matter the setting and gets stuck. Fail
Adaptive Highbeams - First week of having the car, we found out the high beams were manually operated, called the sales guy to ask how to turn on the adaptive highbeams and we were told they don't offer that service. - Fail
Blind Spot Detectors - We paid extra for this feature and it just stays on constantly. even on emptry roads. Spoken to service about this multiple times and each time they say there is no issue.
All Servicing included - Sales rep said all service costs including any repairs would be covered if we took out the more expensive service plan. We agreed, first 2 years no issues, year 3 we were told we needed over £1000 worth of work (Which included £100 to CLEAN MY WIPER BLADES), I said its all covered under the plan and turns out they only cover the inspection fee not the work. Yet again another lie by this company.
lastly was the shocker from today. As we are nearing the end of the 3 years we got an email stating multiple features will now be a pay per month style subscription including the GPS, Alarm and half a dozen other features. Why on earth are you expecting me to pay for basic features on a car that should come as standard?
Thank god we are handing the car back next year and going back to a much more trustworthy brand.
Customer service non existent and failure to notify of a recall
If I could give less than 1 star, I would.
I bought my car second-hand in May 2025 with no recalls outstanding. On 10.11.25 it stalled, the AA towed it, and the garage confirmed the timing chain had broken. Only then did I learn Citroën had issued a recall back in July 2025 for premature chain wear — yet I was never notified.
Customer service promised to collect the car but never called back. Ten days later, my car is still stuck at the original garage. I finally received a recall letter dated 12.11.25 but only delivered on 18.11.25 — far too late. In the meantime, I’ve missed shifts, lost income, and been told contradictory excuses about courtesy cars and repairs.
Citroën’s negligence has left me stranded and financially penalised. I am now escalating this to the Motor Ombudsman and notifying the DVSA.
software update
had too take my citroen c5 aircross in after a recall for a software update to wilmoths in folkstone.Very quick and efficient.
Absolute nightmare, dangerous to drive
Absolute nightmare, steer clear! Brand new EC-3 can't stay on the road for more than a few miles. Completely shuts down in the middle of the road without warning. Told in writing the problem was resolved, collected the car and it did It again within 5 miles. Unsafe vehicle. I will be returning it and engaging with the ombudsman.
Airbags recall. Vague information. LACK of information-MISINFORMATION. Lack of care.
So I got a letter in June to say my DS could not be used due to faulty airbags.
I registered the car with them as they advised, but the page was faulty and I had to do it several times. I thought it was a scam initially. I booked the car into a Citroen dealer who advised 700 Citroen cars were booked in before mine so work would be looking at September.
I received no further correspondence from Citroen. No email, letter, nothing.
I spoke with the finance company who I'm paying for the car. They knew nothing re courtesy or hire car/compensation.
I rang Citroen and was told customers were getting £22 per day for the inconvenience. All you need to do is tell them when the car is fixed.
I rang again today and was told I need receipts for all transport ever used. I was directed to a website to complete a form. I explained I don't have receipts for buses etc as I didn't know. I was told it was ok if I didn't have receipts.
So off to the ehe website...no forms....
I called Citroen again... You DO need receipts. They sent me the form. The first email from them. So really if I had known this information in JUNE I could have KEPT receipts. I could have hired a car and claimed £22 per day but they didn't tell me.
I feel it was to ensure they didn't have to compensate me.
I will be selling this car once it's paid off and will NOT be giving my money to Citroen again. I'll be advising others to do the same.
Pure SHAMBLES. And to think I've been driving a car with a major faulty safety feature.
Terrible company.
we bought a citron car from the trade centre
we bought a citron car from here. they dint tell us about airbag issue, now we received a letter from citron about airbag issue and they asked us not to use the car and until replacement of airbag, we have registered for the airbag replacement but no any further communication , and no answer upon call making. the car is standing still in car park, We are unable to use it and cant sell it. plus our car finance also going and I am paying for taxi. I will just come and drop my car there dump it scrap it or use it for yourself as I cant use or sell it anymore
Shit shower
Summary of Complaint:
The Citroën booking system will not recognise my VIN, preventing me from booking my car in.
On Sunday and again on Monday, 4th August 2025 at 16:29 GMT, I contacted customer services.
The staff member I spoke to — who gave her name as Esma — was abrupt, dismissive, and unhelpful. When I asked for her name, she asked “What for?” I asked her how am I supposed to get to work ? She said get the bus ! and ended the call by saying, “Your time is up, call back tomorrow.”
This attitude is completely unacceptable. I swore in frustration, which I regret, but her behaviour was deeply provoking.
I truly hope they go bankrupt, as for the smug man on the news Tuesday bestowing the virtues of buying a Citroen electric car , he has obviously forgotten to take his medication.
What a horrible company.
Do not buy a Citroen
Dodged a bullet with these idiots - stay away from Citroen - had a nightmare with my C3
Adblue fault and timing chain snapped - Bassetts Carmarthen was no help regarding adblue fault - had to get plugged in and have it deleted then internal timing chain snapped - another known fault with this crap engine - and now the airbag fault which Citroen have told all affected owners not to drive the vehicle - what a company
DO NOT BUY A CITROEN it’s as simple as that !!!
Frustrated and Ignored – No Help from Citroën
My car has been declared unsafe and undrivable due to the recall, yet Citroën has gone completely silent. No updates, no timeline, and no appointment to fix a dangerous airbag issue. I’m self-employed and rely on my car for work — this is directly affecting my ability to earn a living. I’ve contacted them multiple times with no real response. It’s completely unacceptable.
2 months til it can be fixed (recall)
2 months til it can be fixed (recall)
Rang customer service, lies, lies,lies...pretending they have your details in front of them, when I asked what my name is, she tried 3 different names and then said goodbye and cut me off.
Unresponsive
Still no update or resolution from Citroen after their recall.
I’ve contacted very senior colleagues who promised to have this matter expedited due to me being eight months pregnant.
I received one or two emails and nothing since.
This is completely classless from Citroen.
I also care for an elderly person and my car is of paramount importance to me.
There’s been zero consideration about the stress and impact this is having on my pregnancy. I will be taking legal action if there is any long lasting impact.
C3 recall
I had a letter, like 1000's of others to say not use my C3 due to airbag fault. Car now booked to go in for repair in 2 weeks. I asked how do I get the car to the garage if I can't drive it, answer was, I will have to pay for a recovery truck to take it. After 2 attempts and 2 hours waiting, I eventually got through to the Citreon number for enquiries, who told m, I "may" be able to claim for the recovery truck or, if I phone them 4 days before it goes to the garage they could provide a truck, if one is available! I asked about a hire car, no they aren't providing one, what about compensation for being without a car for 2 weeks, no that's not happening. So all in all a waste of time phoning them for hours. Citreon have left thousands' of people with no car for weeks on end with no solutions on how they will cope without their car. Not good enough Citreon, sort yourself out!
Thought I was doing the right thing…
Thought I was doing the right thing buying a Citroen C5X. Wrong, worst car (in my opinion I have ever had). On delivery digital dashboard gave duplicate reading. Noisy tyres changed after less than 900 miles. Digital dashboard kept going back to French. Sat nav useless. Kept for 18 months or so and lost a load of money. Then found out car made in China and was now discontinued. Forget contacting Citroen, useless don’t know anything. Try washing the washing the wheels and you will cut your hands. Terrible car.
eC3 Still not fully functioning after 6 months!!!
I had a C3 on a 54 plate and absolutely loved it so when they brought out the eC3 I was thrilled. We put in the order and waited the 4/6 weeks for delivery and after 8 weeks, it eventually arrived. Came home and tried to program to charge it through the night on the low rate but couldn't. Phoned the dealer and was advised how, back was advised it was probably the charger at fault. Nothing. Phoned the solar company and tried their way. Nothing, so went back to the dealers, and booked it in to be seen there and to be shown how to do it. After a 3 hour visit with the dealers, they found out there was a complete section missing on the programming and we weren't about to charge it on the delay function!!! The car was preventing the charger from programming it from that end as well. But, Citroen knew about this and would be bringing in a software update shortly. We are now almost 6 months on and after chasing again via Citroen customer care, received an email saying the software update is available, but not via the dealership! We would have to do it ourselves, online!!! I'm sorry but this is a brand new car. Why should be have to be doing software updates ourselves? Why has this taken so long, on an electric car in the first place?
Having read so many other poor reviews on here, I'm not holding my breath for a response from Citroen, but I find it shocking a company can perform so badly and not take any ownership for it. This might not be the most expensive electric car on the market but it is still a brand new car and you would hope, it would be fully functional when you purchased it!! Oh and one more thing, we are still waiting for the floor mats to arrive!!!
Unacceptable experience – major fault at 69,000 km, no support from manufacturer
purchased a Citroën C3 (2019), regularly serviced at authorized Citroën centers, driven responsibly, and yet at only 69,000 km I encountered a serious issue — the engine started consuming excessive oil, which led to the catalytic converter failing. The engine warning light is constantly on, and the repair was estimated at over €2,500.
I contacted Citroën Europe and provided exactly what they requested — a diagnostic report from an authorized Citroën service in Croatia. They rejected the report simply because it was not from the UK, even though the car was purchased, registered, and serviced in Croatia.
I then reached out to Citroën Croatia, but they claimed they have no influence and that the local service center had done all it could. In the end, no one wants to take responsibility, even though this is a well-known issue with the 1.2 PureTech engines (excessive oil consumption causing damage to the catalytic system).
After more than 20 years of loyalty to the brand — owning Citroën vehicles, using Citroën financing, and maintaining everything through official channels — I am left with a major fault and no support whatsoever.
Never again will I buy a Citroën vehicle, and I will strongly advise others to avoid it as well.
Citreon over promise under deliver
Just bought new 'award winning !!!'Citreon electric e-C3. Very late delivery, always coming imminently but never actually arriving. And now it has arrived, app is not working but they chose not to tell me or the garage I got it from. No date for properly functioning app given. Pretty useless having electric car without functioning app - thinking of handing back
Citroën e-C4 5 weeks in repair shop
Citroën e-C4. Failure signal: Battery traction system failure. More than 5 weeks in the repair shop, nobody knows how to fix it, nor the shop nor the headquarter technicians in France. How can you sell a car that you don't know how to fix?
Your product and your service suck. 😡
Onboard Navigation: A Frustrating and Dangerous Experience
The navigation system in the Citroën Berlingo Talla M BlueHDi 100 S&S Plus presents serious issues that compromise driver safety. Instead of featuring an integrated navigation system, it functions solely as an extension or interface for the mobile phone, which is the actual device operating the system. This means that without a compatible smartphone, you cannot use the voice control or other key functions of the system.
What’s most concerning is that —without the apps compatible and decided by Citroën— approximately 80% of the operations must be performed directly on the phone, forcing the driver to interact with it while driving, an action that is both prohibited and highly dangerous. To make matters worse, the system only works fully with paid apps. If you opt for free alternatives, the vehicle’s screen won’t play music, requiring you to use the phone to change songs or adjust settings. Additionally, the system quickly drains the phone’s battery, adding another layer of inconvenience.
The practical driving assistance system is overloaded with safety commands that make it difficult to use, and disabling them is often more distracting than navigating a simple menu.
In summary, this navigation system is not only impractical and heavily reliant on the smartphone (if your phone is lost or stolen, you also lose access to GPS), but it also endangers driver safety. Basic tasks such as listening to music or using GPS become frustrating and hazardous experiences unless you’re willing to pay for additional apps.
