Don’t do it.

I’ve been with TXU since March 2022 and I just moved to an area where they do not service so I had to end my service with them this month 10/26 and they advised I would not get any type of fee since it’s a new address and they do not service it. My usual bill average was $250-$260. That was with living in my apartment and having a bunch of devices online and cameras and TVs and lights constantly running and I work from home. Let me tell you when it came as a surprise that my last bill which was only from Oct 5-26th was $348.88. I have tried to call and figure it out with them and they kept trying to explain it in 10 different ways trying to justify the costs. Oct 5-26 is not a full month whatsoever even if they charge me a full month average of $260. Mind you nobody lived in the apartment half of September and all of October to the 26th when I ended the service. So no devices. No lights. No WiFi. Just the AC on 75 degrees. What also is not correct is that it says the amount is due 11/12 and it shows in red past due. Try to make that make sense. My last payment made to them was 10/13 for $260.

Nope, run from TXU

If i could give zero (0) stars I would.

Between the ownership not caring about the people that pay them, the customer service is horrid.

After getting no less than three (3) phone calls about time to resign for service, I started reviewing my service with TXU. Come to find out that they charge median rates and treat you like poo during the whole ordeal.
Nevermind the deactivation fee. You better get those dates correct. If you dont get it right expect a $295 early cancelation fee, regardless if yiu have been overpaying them for electricity for years. Yep, over ten (10) years with them and this is how they treat you.

Highky recommend going to someone else. One of the worst or the worst electrical provider in Houston.

Dont go out of contract - rates can 3X

Wow, the saga continues. TXU continues to harass me by relentlessly calling me. I finally answer in between work responsibilities. Did the rep ask if I have time to talk? NO. This is what is expected from a narcissistically run organization, training employees poorly. I bet the CEO enjoys a fat bonus by demanding predatory pricing and client journeys.

I had to ask the rep to stop babbling three times before telling him TXU does NOT deliver electric, they are a reseller that has bloated prices due to hiring a team like the one he works for. The reason smaller companies are cheaper is they are not bloated by a marketing strategy supporting predatory practices. TXU is successful only due to taking advantage of clients, in my opinion and my personal experience with TXU off and on for 40 years. This relationship always ends badly, why am I surprised tis time? I lived out of state for a few years and simply forgot how predatory TXU really is.

Update: 10/23/26 - lowered to a one star due to being harassed by TXU with calls offering up to $800 in cancelation fees to switch back. Seriously, how does that help me? Think about it, they can just throw away $800 (effectively raising everyone's rates on TXU) in lieu of having an offer at renewal that was not predatory for seniors. I switched to Rhythm. Oncor delivers electricity to North and Central Texas, including the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, Waco, and parts of West and East Texas. It is the largest transmission and distribution utility (TDU) in the state. I hope everyone realizes that Oncor delivers the electricity, not TXU or and any other reseller. At TXU, you are paying to support a bloated marketing team trying to figure out how best to take advantage of clients. I have had an on and off again relationship with TXU for decades and will never work with them again. They screw me every time, it egregious. Skip TXU and go to a company focused on client pricing and affordability.

10/18/2026 Bought a new house 15 months ago, didn't have a bunch of time to review electrical providers and went with TXU. Was satisfied until the contract expired and then you can really tell how egregious the pricing model is upon expiration. When the contract expired they really stuck it to me. Switched to Rhythm and will stay on top of the expiration of contract.

What AI thinks about this...
When your fixed-rate TXU Energy contract expires and you do not actively sign a new one, your account is automatically transitioned to a variable-rate month-to-month plan (often called a default or holdover rate). These out-of-contract rates are notoriously high—sometimes double or triple what you were previously paying.

How does it make sense to take a valued senior client, then screw them with out of contract, dont offer good renewal rates, and then make sure they will NEVER return? I guess it pays well since this is their practice.

I live in a small apartment

I live in a small apartment, and after I told them about my low electricity usage, they still charged me an average of $83 per month, which I found outrageous. I switched to another electric company, and now my bill is around $40 per month.

In my experience, TXU was not fair with its pricing, and I would not recommend them to anyone, regardless of how many kilowatt-hours they use each month.

I changed service to Tri eagle electric…

I changed service to Tri eagle electric and TXU came out with my final bill and tacked on an extra 190 dollars in micelenious charges and would not tell me what they were for. They say they are all about their customers but that is a lie. Everyone should go to another company for their electric. Txu is a huge rip-off. I got my new service 11.5
cents a kilowatt hour.

TXU are CROOKS

TXU are CROOKS, I set up a payment arrangement, had financial difficulties to pay as scheduled. Of course I received a disconnect notice, which I paid in full. TXU held me to the payment arrangements even though I paid the bill in full. Forced me to pay the payment arrangements as well as the monthly bill. Even though I had a bill stating what the charges were in full. Do not make payment arrangements. I hate TXU

1 AC more expensive than 2

Called to find out why my bill was higher even though we had turned off one of the AC's. About 10 minutes of it is hot outside and ac's have to work harder-lol zero info on why 1 ac would be more expensive than running 2. Waste of time no help at all.

Don’t Even Try TXU Energy — Misleading Rates and a $719 Bill

One of the worst electricity billing experiences I have ever had. Do not even try choosing TXU Energy.
TXU Energy charged me $719.75 for only 31 days in a roughly 2,000-square-foot home, despite what I consider very limited/normal household use. The bill shows 3,224 kWh, but the pricing structure is what makes this feel completely unfair and misleading.
• Base charge: $9.95
• First 1,200 kWh at 11.4¢ per kWh: $136.80
• Remaining 2,024 kWh at 18.6¢ per kWh: $376.46
• “Smart Savings” credit: only -$50
• Oncor delivery charges and fees: $212.12
• Total before tax: $692.18
• Final bill: $719.75
Once usage goes above 1,200 kWh, TXU charges a much higher rate, then adds over $200 in delivery charges and fees. Advertising a plan with a low rate while most summer usage is billed at a far higher rate feels like false or misleading advertising.
For a 2,000-square-foot home during Texas heat, going above 1,200 kWh can happen very easily. Customers should not discover the real cost only when they receive a nearly $720 bill. The pricing should be clear and transparent, not built around an attractive advertised rate that applies only to limited usage.
I feel overcharged, misled, and extremely disappointed. Don’t even try taking TXU Energy unless you have carefully reviewed every usage tier, credit condition, delivery fee, and the full Electricity Facts Label.

Yeyson was very helpful and I believe he was honest in his efforts to help us with trying to get more affordable electricity rates. I felt much better after our conversation. I had gotten to the point of checking other providers, but have decided to stay with TXU.

I contacted TXU through the group…

I contacted TXU through the group chat/message option and spoke with a representative named Angel E. I won’t share his last name, but I definitely wanted to recognize the great service I received.

Angel was extremely helpful and responded to my questions very quickly. Normally, I find myself waiting quite a while between responses, but that was not the case this time. He answered everything I needed, made sure my questions were addressed, and provided excellent customer service from start to finish.

I truly appreciate how responsive, professional, and helpful Angel was. He did a great job and made my experience with TXU much easier. Thank you, Angel, for the excellent service!
