Respondent.IO facilitates scammers and does not protect participants.

There is one particular researcher on this site that is running a scam and is protected by respondent.io. The researcher usually does a 2 question initial survey, invites you, asks a follow up survey of a large number of questions, then says the survey is no longer available after getting the information that they need. I had a particularly bad experience where the researcher accepted me, sent me to a store, then cancelled when I arrived. Respondent.io is refusing to do anything about it. I would be cautious about using this site.

No real project opportunities, getting scammed for data

Nearly every project I try to qualify for is endlessly pending. Many of the screeners seem to be collecting data, rather than qualifying you for a project. When I do get offered a project, I complete it and then the researcher cancels my invitation. Incredibly scammy way to collect data. I won't waste any more of my time on this.

NO PAYMENT AFTER A MONTH

Spent hours responding to my first survey, it has been a month and I have had no payment, the group offering the survey stopped responding as soon as I completed it. The "Respondent Support Team" is absolutely useless as it isn't a support team, its an ai called Ken who has been utterly useless despite over 15 emails over the past month in trying to get compensation. Respondent is a waste of time.

Avoid - As many other have said below

As many other have said below, i signed up and have completed a number fo lengthy interviews onlt to get a message at the ned saying 'this study is no longer available'.

Not sure if it's a scam or just a company that over-extended itself and the tech and payment no longer works but i'd avoid for now.

Absolute bloody nightmare as a participant

Absolute bloody nightmare as a participant. Since months there`s the problem that I get offered surveys in a language that I don`t speak (Spanish). Even though in my profile I chose as languages spoken "German and English"! For months I`m "in conversation" with their "support" which is just a stupid chatbot that keeps sending out the same useless answers. It`s been months and I haven't made a single euro on this website. They just steal my time.

Avoid

Got screened for a study. Accepted. Spent 45 mins doing it. Response accepted. A week after no payment was told I was screened out. No customer service, only AI. It’s a fraudulent site. Lure you in with small payments then don’t pay for work done. AVOID.

I'm not sure if this is a scam site

I'm not sure if this is a scam site, or if it's legit and the owners just let a cesspool happen. I've been using this site for a week and find 1 of 3 things happens.
1. You answer screening questions, get a project to click and then it says the study is no longer available, or the positions are already full.
2. Researchers want to pay you $40 to sign up for a $20 monthly program.
3. Financial projects want you to screenshot or video you logging in and linking YOUR bank account to a platform.

So far it has been nothing but a waste of time.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON RESPONDENT.

When I first started using Respondent, the experience was great. The platform worked smoothly, and I was consistently getting invited to studies. Unfortunately, the quality of this platform has severely degraded.
This platform is a complete joke and a scam when it comes to paying participants for their actual work.
I successfully completed a research study, handed over my valuable data and time, and Respondent has flat-out refused to pay me. I have contacted their support team multiple times regarding this missing payment, and they have completely ghosted me. It is incredibly shady to profit off my participation and then go radio silent when it’s time to pay up.
On top of stealing my money, my account is clearly shadowbanned. I can sit there and waste my energy filling out endless screeners, but invitations have completely frozen. They are happy to collect my free screener data while locking me out of actual paid opportunities.
Fix my account, respond to my support tickets, and PAY ME WHAT I AM OWED IMMEDIATELY.

Respondent needs to remember that tech platforms are entirely dependent on the users who power them. There is always a newer, better alternative right around the corner. If you continue to ignore your users and withhold their hard-earned money, you will quickly find yourselves replaced by a competitor that actually respects our time and data. Just like the giant companies of the past that refused to adapt, you risk becoming completely irrelevant and obsolete. Innovation moves fast, and users will happily jump to platforms that actually respect their time.

Dreadful Waste of Time - Don’t Bother

Dreadful experience. In three months I’ve not been able to complete one survey, after answering far too many questions and giving far too much information for free I feel thus sure is a scam. Please prove me wrong Respondent!

Respondent.io is fraudulent

As far as I am concerned, Respondent (respondent.io) appears to be a fraudulent website. I have been invited several times to participate in research activities, and on each occasion, I completed the activity successfully.

However, when it reaches the stage where I am required to take a photo for payment verification, the page suddenly reloads and displays a message stating that the activity is no longer available. When I check my email afterwards, I find a message indicating that the researcher has cancelled the invitation.

This has happened to me multiple times, which has made me seriously question the legitimacy and reliability of the platform.

Beware of Respondet

I like that I can receive access to studies and be compensated, but there are SO many issues with Respondent.

The customer service is HORRIBLE, and their AI chatbot solution should be reevaluated. They respond with generic, unhelpful responses and speak in circles even if you provide all of the necessary information upfront. It is really hard to get in touch with an actual person and when you do, they send similar generic email templates and rarely help solve issues.

There are also many unmoderated studies on the platform that you may initially qualify for but the second you get invited and click on the link, it disqualifies you or says that the study is full. This feeds into your daily allotment of applications which makes no sense, as the studies should not have been available in the first place.

If you do complete an unmoderated study thoroughly and the researcher does not mark your attendance or pay you, the Respondent team does nothing to help compensate you for your completed work and instead says (with a generic response) that the researcher marked you as disqualified. When this happens, you are essentially completing studies for free which is ridiculous.

They also only pay in Tremendous visa gift cards for studies over $20 and do not allow exceptions. Due to a tokenization issue on Tremendous's end (in which I've spent several hours on the phone, submitting tickets, etc. over the span of 4 months), I'm unable to realistically use these visa cards in a meaningful/daily way, and Respondent will not allow me to select another payment method and is not willing to work with Tremendous to resolve.

I've had completed studies sitting in the "invited" or "attended" stage for months on end and the Respondent team says they are "unable to push them through".

I do appreciate the side income that Respondent gives me and if you are diligent, you can make a meaningful amount of money from the platform, but the customer service and user experience is genuinely one of the worst I've ever seen

Garbage

They take 5% of your earnings IF they pay you and will frequently fabricate an excuse to not pay for a project your did complete. Support is very slow and rarely seems to read your Emails or attempt to understand your issue and then replies with only copy pastas
