I have been using Taxcalc for many years and have always been inmpressed with the quality of the product and in addition, the support given to me over these years.
I would heartily reccomend Taxcalc to any prospective users.

Whilst email responses are ok in many instances, sometimes speaking to a person usually makes things much clearer. This is especially true if the customer is not software savvy.
I have tried and failed to call a number
of times.

I have been using Taxcalc from long time. Used it on my desktop for my self assessment. It's very intuitive and very easy to complete. I used basic features so cannot say much about other features like what if, VAT etc

Simple software and gets updated regularly. Well priced too

Find that the Training support is use the system fully is limited

Queries answered so promptly and answered in terms that someone not that computer literate can easily understand.

Promptly dealt with my query and sent an email confirming what to do.

An excellent product but you should be aware that you are restricted to 7 classes of Tangible assets. This is enough for the majority of our clients but we have a couple where it means that we are combining items. These clients are separating the items in their books and don't understand why we cannot follow the same procedure. It also effects the import of data.

TaxCalc is an invaluable piece of software. With good support for standard tax returns, MTD for VAT and MTD for IT.

I find their support staff helpful.

However, there are a (seemingly increasing) number of bugs in the software, which give the impression that it is being rushed out without sufficient testing.

In the past few months, there have been issues with crashing when entering foreign income, (on the Mac) crashing just when you exit the program, bugs on importing data for MTD for VAT and quite serious oversight bugs on importing CSV with quote delimiters around values which have thousand separators (e.g., ,"10,123.45",) which are very common outputs from spreadsheets, but which TaxCalc just chokes on.

It's quite a concern, because this is software that I've come to rely on - and generally, it's very good - but something definitely seems to be going wrong in development and testing.

And when it comes to tax software, that's not great.

I desperately want to give them five stars, but they need to test more and improve their development processes.

Excellent Product - lots of answered support queries, easy submission of personal tax returns to HMRC. (had never done this before)
Highly recommended.
(Tip - I used the Linux version, it failed to run on Ubuntu but no problems running this on Linux Mint)

Had some technical issues with submission to HMRC and mailed in for help. Kimi mailed me back with a solution that worked perfectly!
