Suncorp USED to be excellent - Not anymore.

Suncorp USED to be excellent, now its just incompetence. I suspect they are now using OS call centres and haven't a clue what they are doing. I have several policies and had to make a claim, after going through the claim process only to find they had registered the claim against the wrong policy. I called back to be told that I would have to wait until the next day and someone would call me back who could change it. After waiting they called to say they could only cancel the claim and do another one. I have been through the process twice and provided details and added an authorised persons details only to get a call again later to go through the process again and be told that there was no one listed as authorised except for myself, would I like to add someone. 3x times Suncorp, 3 times now! how many times do we have to do this - incompetent people or processes.

Clients for 25 years!

Clients for 25 years with homes and car insurance. Rang to enquire why we had not received our home renewal policy. i was told they did not receive the payment in the time frame, so they returned the payment.
I did not loose my cool, I asked where was their Customer Service and surely they could have made a phone call. .
This was not picked up as my husband was ill in hospital and ended up staying 5 weeks.
The lady was very keen to give me a fresh quote. our last payment was $3500, the new verbal quote was $9500 and she expected me to accept it. I told her that I was walking.
When the email arrived it was the quote was $15,500. A very disappointing outcome after 25 years of loyalty.

An absolute hostage situation

An absolute hostage situation. I tried to make two changes on my policy and it took hours and attempts over three days. Suncorp phone number leads to a labyrinth of options and then it hangs up on me when it says it can all be done online. The online chat takes hours... you write something and they ask you 20 minutes later if you are still there without giving an answer of any kind. After going through the process of cancelling one policy three separate times, I received an email from Suncorp demanding that I call them and then another email with a complete script of my last attempt to cancel the policy as if trying to debunk my cancellation? WTF? Long time Suncorp Insurance customer here that will be dropping them completely now.

Car Insurance Do not buy. Please read this before you do. Customer for 12 years with Lifetime old for new policy and this is what they do.

Drama. Stay away. Do not buy. Trouble when you go to claim. I have held a lifetime old for new car insurance policy with suncorp for 12 years. The car was 18 months old when i insured it with them. I rang for a basic quote and instead was offered this policy. The only requirements they said was the car must be under 2 years old and bought from a car yard. Which it was that eligible.
The car is now a right off hail damage. They are denying the claim. It was written off in october and its now july. 9 mths later still arguing with them. They are denying it On the grounds that i was not the first registered owner. I was only told that The car had to be under 2 years old at the time and bought from a car yard. This was never mentioned to me until now.
I have rang them every single year for 12 years without fail as soon as my policy arrives in the mail before i pay it to check i am covered. They always say yes on the phone we will buy you a new car if it is written off or stolen.
I have requested all the recordings for 12 years even given them the months to check where i have rang in. Afca is investigating how they have mislead me and sold me a policy for 12 years where i pay extra to have it but they are refusing to honour it. Their own operators tell me i am covered.
They will not release the recordings i have requested. They keep saying i did not call in. Yet they have sent afca the recordings of all my policy changes i made such as an address change or taking a driver of my policy. I do have one recoding where their operator states we will buy you a new car if your car is ever written of or stolen. I am not letting this go. I have taken this to afca and the privacy commissioner to get my recordings of their operators confirming that i am covered. The evidence of misleading conduct I know i ring in every single year without fail to check and they have sold me a product under false advertising. They should honour what they have consistently promised me and not hide recordings of evidence. Its disgraceful to think they can do this and hide recordings. You might see me on a current affair soon. Lol

Support only after cancellation

I had been a Suncorp home insurance customer for two years, during which my premium increased by more than 120%. I wasn't expecting them to necessarily match competitors, but I did expect a clear explanation of why my premium had increased so significantly.

Over several weeks, I repeatedly asked policy-specific questions and requested information that would help me make an informed decision before my renewal date. Suncorp advised they would conduct a "policy health check" to review my cover and explore my options, but I never received an update. Instead, I had to follow up myself just two days before my policy was due to renew, only to receive more generic responses that still didn't answer my questions.

By the time Suncorp finally provided the personalised explanation I had been asking for, my renewal date had already passed and I had already arranged cover with another insurer. Ironically, it was only after I advised that I was cancelling my policy that I received prompt, detailed responses and had a complaint lodged on my behalf.

My frustration isn't just with the premium increase, it's with the customer service. If the level of attention I received after cancelling had been provided when I first asked for help, I may have been able to make a properly informed decision before my renewal date. Instead, the response came too late.

It has now been six weeks since I first contacted Suncorp and nearly a week since I requested cancellation of my policy, yet I still haven't received confirmation that my cancellation has been processed. Overall, the experience has left me with very little confidence in Suncorp's customer service.

Suncorp best home insurance in premium and claim.

We made a claim after a storm damaged our roof. We found Suncorp easy to deal with. In the end we received a payout and paid our own tradie to fix the roof with the strongest material we could buy. It was more cost effective than using the roof repairer contracted by Suncorp. This has been our only claim and it went really well. Their insurance premiums are cheaper than YOUI and so many others. I spent a whole day ringing around and comparing Insurance companies and Suncorp was the best.

Arrogant - Suncorp Insurance

Joined Suncorp Insurance in end of May 2024 for both vehicle insurance and home insurance. Now after only 2 years, it is proposing to increase my premiums by 40% and 70% (compared with premiums for last year) for the upcoming renewals in end of May 2026. I have good insurance history, with Suncorp Insurance and all my previous insurance providers, for more than 30 years. My last vehicle insurance claim was in the 2000s - total loss due to sudden torrential rain and flash flood on the street where I had parked my vehicle, and that was all. I have never claimed on home insurance. Even after the vehicle total loss, I had never had my premiums raised by that much, as Suncorp is going to, for many, many years.
Only after having been with Suncorp Insurance for 2 years, I am already being treated as a customer being too loyal, and I am being robbed. Even worse, Suncorp Insurancr is so arrogant that it has not responded to my email complaint/protest about their greed. It is businesses like Suncorp Insurance that cause the inflation problem in Australia and the resultant non-stop interest rates rises by the Reserve Bank, that in turn cause so much pain to all Australians!

1000000 out of 10, best team

I had to claim because some gentleman decided my car window was the perfect place to take out his frustrations and it’s taken 4 months to completely fix. Sounds bad but stick with me, it wasn’t their fault, it’s because I live in a pit hole of “city”. Every single person I’ve spoken to from Suncorp team was amazing. Customer service 1000000 out of 10. Mind you, I’ve never made a claim in my life. My car is now sorted and I’m pretty sad I won’t make my fortnightly call to extend my hire car. I’m so glad I got the team that I did.

THE COMEBACK IS ALWAYS STRONGER THAN THE SETBACK

I've been a customer of Suncorp insurance for over 20 years now. I had a medical emergency and police had to break in through my front door. Having an unsafe front door was a big stress for me being a 73 yr old pensioner living alone. It was the expense also that stressed me. Fortunately Suncorp accepted my claim. It's no secret that it is very hard in today's world to find qualified tradesmen but Suncorp worked consistently hard to get my door replaced and timber work completed as soon as possible. I had 2 very caring and supportive Suncorp staff who kept me informed. I want to extend my great appreciation to them - Lidia (ladies first) & Steve. OK people say that Suncorp insurance is expensive but trust me I've learnt a lot in my lifetime ie PRICE IS WHAT YOU PAY, VALUE IS WHAT YOU GET. Meryl Carney

Can't access our own funds for the second time in less than a month

We are long term Suncorp customers. Twice in the last month we have been unable to access our funds. The first time we were locked out for over a week and I eventually had to call them. I had tried repeatedly on approximately four separate days before I reluctantly waited in the call centre queue on my lunchbreak.

They advised that for some inexplicable reason I was now unable to transfer funds or pay bills externally from my "sub" accounts. No particular reason was found for this but I breathed a sigh of relief when I was finally able to transfer funds from one of the subs to th primary and, from there, pay a credit card.

Fast forward two weeks and here we are again. Just completely unable to transfer funds, BPAY etc. I've tried the subs, the primary. No BPAY can be made. There is an error saying that VISA card payments are down ATM but nothing to do with external BPAY accounts. We are heading into a long weekend and, once again, unable to pay our bills.

Honestly if this continues we will have to pack up and head for another bank.

Bad Chat

Went on chat to change address for my home contents insurance and after answering multiple questions about my new duelling, the Suncorp chat person then quoted us an increase from $33/mth to $2025.00/mth.
When I said rubbish, I got an answer something like “oops, there’s been an error “. What ineptness!

AVOID! Suncorp is the worst insurance company.

Suncorp is probably the worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. Their "Delay, Deny, Defend” policy is unbelievable. They will do anything to not pay out on a claim.
I have looked at other reviews and the fact that they are constantly at the bottom of ratings says something about their customer service.
After some heavy rain and slippery, oily road conditions the car slid into a side rail on a corner. The car was insured for $12,500 - by the time they took out all the possible costs they could come up with, the payout was $10,000.
To finally get to this payout, it took weeks of texts, emails and hours and hours waiting on the phone to finally get someone to speak with, who it turns out, doesn’t even speak English that you can understand.
I had two cars and house insurance with them. I have cancelled all policies and would never sign up with them again.
Save yourself lots of hassle and don’t insure with Suncorp - check out Choice and try the top rated insurance companies instead.
Believe me it’ll be worth it.

The insurance company is deeply disappointed.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Suncorp Car Insurance.

I applied for comprehensive insurance for my 2014 Toyota Crown, and the policy was created and issued to me (Policy No: MPS065620456). However, the certificate of insurance incorrectly listed my vehicle as a 1984 Toyota Crown, which is a clear mistake from your system or processing.

I contacted your customer service immediately to correct this error. I spent over two hours on the phone, but the issue was not resolved. Instead of fixing a simple mistake, I was told that the policy had to be cancelled, and worse, that you could not offer me insurance for my vehicle at all.

This is unacceptable for the following reasons:

- The error was not caused by me, yet I was penalised
- I wasted significant time trying to fix your mistake
- No proper solution or alternative was offered
- The service provided was inefficient and unprofessional

As a customer, I expect accurate policy handling and reasonable support when issues arise. Cancelling a valid policy due to an internal error without offering a solution shows a lack of accountability and very poor customer service and disappointed.

I will be considering alternative insurers due to this poor service.

☹️
