Would not use hobbycraft again as they refuse to help me after a family emergency to cancel the order and it hadn’t even been despatched. They have no real duty of care in special circumstances.

NASTY ACCIDENT IN STORE with NO PROPER STAFF ACKNOWLEDGMENT or FOLLOW UP PROTOCOLS
Visited Hobbycraft Newbury on Sunday 30th August 2026. A member of staff had left a trolly unattended in one of the aisles with a loose metal shelf leaning against it. My elderly father was passing, the wheel that was poking out tripped him sending him flying into the metal shelf and trolly and onto the floor. My father hit himself hard onto the floor scraping his arm and leg. When a member of staff did appear I informed her of health and safety and that a trolly should not be left unattended as it was with the shelf leaning against it. The assistant after stood looking dumbstruck finally apologised and that was it. No incident report was made or accident record, no offer to sit and assess any of his injuries….. Nothing…
My father and I decided to leave and whilst doing so looked to see what the staff member was doing. I was shocked to see she had put the basket she was carrying on the floor in the next aisle with items left on the floor… This is terrible and I am surprised Hobbycraft does not do any health and safety training. I went to find a different member of staff to report the accident and the possible accident waiting to happen. This staff member just stood and stared at me, still no incident report or follow up of his injuries obtained in your store which were caused by staff negligence.
Today Monday 31st August 2026 my father has a scrape up his rm which looks very sore and he is in a lot of pain with the leg he landed on and the knee swollen. If this had been a broken hip or like, this incident could have been far more serious even life threatening as elderly people and broken bones can cause serious harm to health.
My father has brought all of his Hobby items for years from Hobbycraft but as of now we will not ever be returning to a store especially when they have no official way of reporting an incident that would include some staff training for health and safety
DISGUSTING
Zero stars for Hobbycraft
I would actually have liked to give zero stars. I travelled to the Aintree store this morning to find it closed owing to ‘flooding’ - I presume issues with the roof. This is the second time that this has happened. There was nothing on the website to indicate closure on either occasion. Maddening!

Never have any issues
I have placed 4 orders so far this year.
I can easily find what I am looking for as the website is easy to navigate.
I have no problems adding items to my basket and completing checkout.
Delivery is always on time; items are always well packaged in eco-friendly, recyclable materials.
Brilliant
Brilliant, I have a little business and there great suppliers
Always lovely staff
Love going in and there are always friendly staff at the Wimbledon and Reading branches!
My only issue would be the loyalty card seems a bit pointless so I’ve given up even carrying it, but I can’t fault the shopping experience.
It’s a pleasure to shop in the Chesterfield store
It’s always a pleasure shopping in the Chesterfield store.
Everything is well laid out and staff on hand to help.
The lift is easy to use and very welcome.
The products are first class and the staff at the tills very helpful too.
Could spend days in there 😊
Bad customer service
Bad customer service, rude and blunt. They don't listen to anything you say and are unhelpful and dismissive. I will be using temu and ali express from now on
Waste of time asking for next day delivery
Ordered 3 items online and paid for next day pickup from store. Waited all day for an email to go and collect, even rang store to find out what time last delivery was received. Early evening went on live chat to discover my order was received 32seconds after the cur off time the day before so has not been processed yet. Will now hopefully be in store the following day. I paid extra for next working day as well. When I asked about getting an email with the tracking number I was told they were no longer sent out to customers. I pointed out that wasn't what it said on the website, and had to send screenshots to prove what I was saying. This was the first and last time I shall be using Hobbycraft to buy my crafting bits in future I shall return to Ebay which I have had no problem with previously and only chose Hobbycraft as I needed something quickly. You can see how that turned out!
Don't buy plastic storage boxes online!!!
Don't get me wrong, I love hobbycraft shop - this is beyond a recent negative experience I recently have had.
I love browsing and never leave empty handed when in store.
Love the fact that in Northampton we have a nice size shop we can go to and just forget about daily chores :)
However- I need to say I am highly disappointed with my recent online shopping experience.
I have ordered 12 big plastic boxes for storage.
They have arrived quite promptly but there was no proper wrapping nor protection apart from sticking all of the plastic container into a massive cardboard box. Nothing else.
As you can imagine - the boxes arrived broken.
I had a good deal on them as bought 3 for the price of two (altogether 12) but still spent £85 on them.
Most of the lids were broken/chipped.
3 boxes were unusable, the rest I planned to used as we are in the middle of moving houses, so I sellotaped them as havent got time nor space to fiddle with sending what was left back.
Now the customer service was strict about return policy - I return all of the boxes or get no full refund.
I asked for 30% partial refund as this was adequate in my opinion. Hobbycraft customer service offered 20% no more and required boxes being send back otherwise.
In my opinion, when I don't make sure an item is well packed, I should do my best to make up for it as it is my responsibility to make sure the item is well protected before sending it off.
Long story short - I have a feeling like there was not much of cooperation on hobbycraft side.
So if you are planning to buy big plastic storage boxes, buy them in store or avoid online purchase as if it has happened to me, there is no guarantee it won't happen to you.
I thought that by keeping the boxes and fixing them I am actually making hobbycraft a favour as they would go to landfill otherwise. I like to fix before I throw away and would appreciate if companies like hobbycraft felt same about it.
I eventually have been granted 20% refund but in my opinion the hassle of bouncing emails back and forth was not worthy of my time as as mentioned before, we are in the midst of moving.
Over charge
Hobby craft purley way overcharging customers
Be careful!! Manager not helpful at all !!!
Reduced selection, caved to genAI
Reduced their selection over time. I can no longer get the jewellery supplies I need and have had to look elsewhere.
Also appalled that they've caved to genAI - it seems that you can't submit product reviews anymore without following the guidelines generated by an LLM imbedded onto the site. A slap in the face to their consumer base (artists).
A great selection of model aircraft
A great selection of model aircraft, it was difficult to choose what to get a young boy for his 10th Birthday; however, in the end I got an Airfix Starter Kit which included not only the model Hawk, but also cement, paint brush & acrylic paints. It also said suitable for 8+, so that was clear.
However, where it could be improved, some of the other boxes just said Level 3 or Level 4 - a large notice by the kits showing typical age levels, would be helpful,
Thanks
Wrong item in click & collect order
Click & collect order had one wrong item in bag. When I went back into store to complain they didn't have the item I had ordered. Was annoyed as I had made the journey for nothing & I live a fair distance away from the store. I made another order in store & was told I would now have to pay £2 for click & collect as my order was now under £10. I suggest that staff picking items from the shelf to fulfil orders should double check the details. This is not the first time I have had problems with the Newcastle store.
Do not buy their witch cat crochet…
Do not buy their witch cat crochet pattern, it is AI generated and missing information that tells you how to make the ears, feet and tail. The toy would have turned out too small for the eyes. Also the quality of the wool in the kit is awful feels rough, and there is no crochet hook in the kit.
Bought a mountboard in the Bolton store
Bought a mountboard in the Bolton store

Waiting for hoobycraft delivery and customer services
We have now waited in for two afternoon and evenings for our parcel from hobbycraft. We have received e mails both day saying the driver “missed” us - is this supposed to mean he called and we were absent - if so this is known as ghosting. I have now asked hobbycraft to refund me I will get a similar product tomorrow from a local shop. i will keep posted on here as to how this pans out.
When i had their response I sentt this to customer services - Hi
