As soon as I have listened to what I have paid for I am closing my subscription.
I bought a sequel that has only recently been published to the first book I listened to about a year ago, so I needed to recap. I soon discovered that I had best listen to the whole thing again. When I moved from chapter two to three I found that the story had jumped ahead and that probably a whole chapter was missing. I am sure because I can remember exactly what happened in that gap. I contacted them and they removed the title and loaded it again anew, but this missing part remained missing. They gave me a free credit but did nothing about it and gave no explanation as to how this could happen.
I have also had books removed from my library without explanation but it could be political, but I did not get my money back.
As soon as I have listened to what I have paid for I am closing my subscription.

NO STARS-Set up new Audible…
NO STARS-Set up new Audible account, registered app to listen and straight away they locked my account for misuse of Amazon services. No way to contact, eventually phoned -customer service assistant total waste of time, did not have a clue.Gave me a number for department that cold take account off hold...surprise-NOT-the number does not exist.Cancelled card and asked bank to completely block Audible...will call again tomorrow to make sure they really are blocked after reading other reviews on here.
Audible used to have the best customer service department out there, they are now the WORST EVER.
Avoid this company at all costs-use the one that has drm files and supports bookshops-(LFM).
I have been an Audible customer for years-NEVER AGAIN!
Worst customer service / Enables Fraud
Worst customer service possible, I contacted them due to fraud using my card on their website and they tried to blame me for it and tell me it was my non existent family who used my card.
This card had been disabled already so I gave them the number of it and they said SORRY we can't do anything without the email associated to the account (the email the hacker used to make the account) obviously I am going to have this email aren't I.
This company does not give a damn about fraud and actively helps them use their site to commit fraud.
I got my money back through my bank, Audible is SHIT tier service that blames their customers.

I wish I had read the reviews first
I wish I had read the reviews first. I cancelled my subscription within 75 minutes of signing up. It is far from clear on the app how you discover which books are part of your subscription. I did a long winded chat with somebidy who clearly did not know his way around things. The number you are given puts you through to the USA who do not understand UK time zones. I was promised a call back which never happened
Customer service with @MarioMark…
Customer service with @MarioMark phenomenal. I had an issue (my own fault) and Mario quickly sorted the solution. I logged off before I had time to say thank you (again showing my lack of expertise). Thank you Mario!
ILLEGAL customer service policies
Before it became part of Amazon, Audible used to be a nice company. Since takeover by Amazon they're acting ILLEGALLY just behaving as though we have no customer rights.
Yesterday, I purchased a book with a credit card payment, as it was cheaper than using my Credit. Tonight I called customer services to return the book and was told "NO RETURNS OF CASH PURCHASED BOOKS". That is illegal.
I have cancelled my membership and will have my card company do a 'chargeback' on the cost of the book.
⚠️WARNING - if you're familiar with Amazon's excellent customer services, who are always helpful with any return, you will be surprised and shocked by Audible's atrocious customer services policies. Audible are outlaws and are to be avoided!!
Don't bother if you are a Kindle user
Having been a satisfied customer, I can now see that the price of books has risen to an extortionate level but even worse, is that there is a long standing bug that means for the last few weeks, Kindle users like myself are unable to download audio content.
Apparently the issue is "still under investigation by the development team", which is a pretty shoddy service level, as this has been an active, critical issue for many users for a significant period of time.
Also, thanks to the "helpful" suggestion of one of the support team, that I should de-register and re-register my device to see if that fixed it, I have now lost access to the audio content I had previously downloaded, which will now not re-download - annoyed is not a strong enough word...
The workaround I was given, was to use my phone instead - but the whole point of the Kindle is that I don't have to risk my very expensive, new phone on the beach...
GREEDY
I have been a loyal listener for many years and subscribe to their top level annual service.
I listen to so many books I regularly have to buy extra credits that come in multiples of 5 books for around £17.
I wanted to purchase another credit today to find the price had jumped up around £24.
As soon as my subscription is due for renewal, I'll cancel and find a better value service.
They got too greedy
They got too greedy. Purchased books disappear if you cancel membership. Will never use again.
Changes in terms mean I lost credits - avoid!
I have been a member for 10 years on a standard plan. Now the terms have changed (I don't recall being informed about this).
Not only do I have to use my credit that month, but any unused ones I had have now been wiped from my account. This is theft! I paid for those.
Additionally, the quality of many of these books is now of an extremely low standard, as is the description for them. AI reigns when it comes to narration it seems.
My most recent purchase turned out to not be a book at all, but a set of meditations. And poor ones at that. Now I discover I can't have a refund unless I'm on a premium plan, so that's another change in terms and £5.99 down the drain.
I'm currently looking for another audiobook provider, as I just can't keep giving these corporate low-lifes my money any longer.
Very poor service
Very poor service, the credits expire so you loose money, I canceled my membership and despite that they continued to charge me although the website said i didn’t have membership. I had to call - the explanation was that the cancellation didn’t fully go through.
33% price rise?!
I’m writing this review with great reluctance because I normally receive a 5* service from Audible. I’ve been a member since 2009 and have over 3,000 books. Audible is a huge part of my life, especially as I have no television, don’t stream and don’t do social media and I’m really disappointed that I have to write this in an effort to get a response from Audible.
I have a Premium Plus membership and I receive 24 credits in February. Today I clicked on ‘buy extra credits’, as I frequently do, to discover that the price for 5 credits has gone up by a massive 33% overnight! There has been no notification by email and nothing has been mentioned on the website about a price increase. I realise prices have to rise but by 33%?! It also states that if you have more than 6 credits in your account, Audible will start taking them back. Is that not theft? If I’ve paid for something, how is it acceptable for Audible to remove it and I’m not interested in all that old baloney about it affecting authors. Audible is a huge global company and that excuse just doesn’t wash with me. I also fail to see how that works when I’ll have 24 credits in my account, reducing slowly over several months.
I put these questions to Audible on their chat and Kevin was less than helpful. I decided to make a complaint because I felt like I was being fobbed off and received no answers to my questions. I was given an Audible customer care email address to send my complaint to, which I duly did, only to receive a no reply response thanking me and notifying me that I wouldn’t receive a response! It directed me back to ‘contact us’, which is where I spoke to Kevin in the first place.
I really hope you read your reviews on TP, Audible because you shouldn’t be treating any of your customers in this way, let alone a die hard member of 17 years who’s regularly in the top 5% of your listeners and, presumably, your paying customers. In a nutshell; dreadful communication and policy regarding price rises, as in none at all, and misleading and confusing information about credit rollovers. For the first time in 17 years, I’m not impressed.
The Corporatocracy is real
The Corporatocracy is real. I'd simply like decent customer service and less of the pressure to maintain a subscription, without taking 3 month 'holidays'. Instead, my subscription has been cancelled and my remaining credits disappeared. Good riddance child killers!
If you cancel your membership
If you cancel your membership, you lose your credits, I had built up a number of credits so cancelled the membership with the idea of possibly starting the membership up again but lost all my credits. Will not use Audible again. Unbelievable.
Poor
Poor - I thought this would be such a good idea but alas… it may suit people who want mainstream reads Harry Potter etc but if you like more diverse it does not have the choice . I buy at least 20 books a year sometimes double that and I have just gone four months not finding a book I want on Audible . Then try and cancel and realise you lose all your credits . Feels like a rip off !
⚠️ AN UTTERLY OUTRAGEOUS AND PREDATORY CORPORATE MEAT GRINDER!! ⚠️
If you are a UK resident using this app, BEWARE: Amazon's global login system allows a silent, automated geographic redirect to happen completely behind the scenes. 🛑 Without any explicit warnings or clear regional confirmation, you can be signed up and billed by the US marketplace (.com).
Because the platforms operate independently, your UK app will show absolutely NO active membership, making it seem like everything is fine while Audible US silently bleeds £11.19 a month out of your bank account. 🤬
💸 I discovered they had quietly pocketed a total of £35.68 from me over several months—for an app I have never once used!! 💸
It is a disgusting, broken system designed to extract cash from unsuspecting everyday people who are left entirely in the dark. 🤯
To make matters worse, UK customer service completely washes their hands of it, forcing you to hunt down hidden override links just to bypass browser redirects and battle overseas support scripts to claw your money back. 🎯 Unacceptable, multi-border theft from a multi-billion dollar company.
🔍 Check your bank statements closely for odd amounts like £11.19 instead of the standard UK fee—you are likely being milked by a ghost account! 🔍

Bought a new kindle recently when my old one was no longer supported. It came with a link to a 'free 60 day audible trial' which I took. However, the membership fee of £8.99 a month actually started within the the trial period, and it was a somewhat tortuous process to get it sorted out. I regret taking out the trial - audible are keen to keep their claws in once you show interest! Be warned.
Has now got rubbish
Has now got rubbish. You don't get credits now. They don't roll over. You get a monthly purchase but it's quite unclear how to use/ how this works. Purchases aren't tracked anymore. I'm going to look for an alternative ebook platform.
