Disappointed following a wishbone…
Disappointed following a wishbone replacement, which I believe I was overcharged for (£375), the driveshaft bolt had been snapped during the repair which has compounded into a whole load of issues which which will likely cost me another £1000, including another wishbone as the one he installed had been split. Essentially a £100 job will now be a near £1400 fix. Despite a series of messages he will not reply or take responsibility.
Emergency van repair

0 stars Awful service
0 stars. He sent a mechanic to check my car in Peterborough. He diagnosed a 'relay' issue charged 90, then said he no longer covers Peterborough and didn't respond to calls. Very poor. No diagnostic report sent. I've now found that his diagnostic was wrong too..
Failed to fix original fault. Issue never resolved.Over £1000 spent with no proper repair
I contacted Richie Wrighting Auto Works Ltd when my Ford Mustang Mach E GT would not move and showed an electronic handbrake warning.
He diagnosed an NSR Handbrake module and charged £543.80 to replace it. The following day, the car locked up again.
He then diagnosed a faulty caliper that supposedly had to be ordered from the USA. I paid a £413.47 deposit towards a £668.83 bill. After fitting the caliper, the dashboard warning lights were still on, and the original issue remained unresolved.
Communication deteriorated. Calls went unanswered. I was told he was “waiting for Ford” and waited 3–4 weeks without any proper update or repair.
I eventually booked the car directly with Ford, who resolved the issue for £475.
In total, I have spent over £1400 and the original fault was not fixed by Richie. I question whether the parts fitted were necessary at all.
Very poor experience. I cannot recommend this service.
Great honest service
Marc came out the same day as I phoned . He arrived on time and quickly after diagnosing the fault gave me an honest professional explanation of the mechanical problem with my car. Excellent service and I would call him again in the future.
What a company!
What a company!!
I’d been badly let down by a local mechanic who ran off with my money. I was recommended Ritchie Wrighting by a friend. I called at 7:30 in the morning and Mark made sure he helped me that day by making me his last call, even though I live 1 hour and 15 minutes from his home. He fixed the problem in 10 minutes and my car is now MOT worthy. Incredible service, incredible price. You now have a customer for life. Thank you so much.
Never had any issues
Never had any issues, always on time, reliable and fairly priced. Good service and friendly guys
Mark was brilliant
Mark was brilliant! Come out late to fix my scirocco and managed to get it running. He explained everything very well and was very affordable, will definitely be recommending and re using mark again. Thanks again :)

Clutch changed at my convenience
I was driving to work on Tuesday evening. I was 2 mins from work stopped at a set of lights. As I went to pull away my clutch went, panic. Managed to get the car work and started my search for a mechanic in Cambridge, as someone who's not from Cambridge this was worrying enough. I found Richie Wrighting Auto works. I booked the job on Tuesday evening and was able to speak to Richie on Wednesday morning. At 1430 on Wednesday they came to place of work, set up everything they needed. They spent a few hours in the cold and got everything completed. What was great was them showing me what had failed in the car so I knew I wasnt be sold stuff I didn't need. In the end they let me take the car out for a drive to make sure I was happy. The can runs smooth and im back able to do my 160miles a day driving for work. Not only were they professional but quick to respond to me in my time of need, they did a great job at my work so I didn't have to worry about the expense of towing thr car someone else. 100% if something goes wrong with my cars in the future and im in Cambridge Richie will be my 1st call.
Paid £90
Paid £90, he turned up. said he suspected engine damage and left without leaving me with a diagnosis check.
The refused to respond to my messages asking why he suspected engine damage as it was running fine before fuel pump failed.
Trying to get my late father’s car up…
Trying to get my late father’s car up and running for over a year! Have paid for so many things for them to look into and now I can’t get hold of them, they have an ecu somewhere from the car and both sets of keys!!! Appalled and devastated!!!
Not a good experience
Came out to fix our gear linkage, fitted the parts and everything seemed fine until driving the car on faster roads when it wouldn’t go into 6th gear. Antony agreed to come back and look at it but wanted £90 to diagnose. We argued that the problem is due to the fitting of the gear linkage so he agreed to look at it again. Antony then told us he had phoned Kia and the linkage cables couldn’t be adjusted. Antony did come out but said he couldn’t adjust anything. We phoned Kia who confirmed they are adjustable, we ended up paying £150 to another garage to adjust them and finish the job. We sent a photo of the invoice and asked for resolution but received no reply from Ritchie Wrighting Auto Works. In the end the job wasn’t done correctly and it cost us an extra £150 above the £505 it originally cost. They also would not send us a receipt for payment even though we had asked twice.
Just avoid, scammer.
Just avoid. Came out to do a diagnostics, wouldn't start until payment made, as soon as payment made, they left, never came back, and never sent any report, despite chasing dozens of times, quite simply a cowboy scammer, to be avoided by all. Did nothing, just took the money and ran.

Time & over charging
Would Not Recommend
My car’s cambelt snapped, and while I acknowledge that better maintenance could have prevented this, what followed was a nightmare experience.
We hired Ritchie Wrighting to fix the car. He charged £99 for an initial visit and assured us it would be repaired on our driveway within five days—perfect, or so we thought.
55 days later, the car was finally "fixed"—but barely. In that time, we spent over £1,000 on rental cars due to the delay and even missed a funeral. Communication from the garage was minimal, and when we had the car inspected (because we no longer trusted the work), we discovered the lights had simply been switched off rather than the actual issue being fixed.
When we raised concerns and mentioned seeking legal action due to the excessive delay, the mechanic became defensive and aggressive.
We were told the delay was due to sourcing an engine part (a camshaft or pulley). While we did receive a partial refund, we were then unexpectedly charged again for another necessary part. At one point, we were told a part hadn’t arrived, but tracking showed otherwise—just one example of the misinformation we dealt with throughout the process.
What started as a £1,700 repair spiraled into nearly £2,900 and almost three months of frustration.
Additionally I had contacted the mechanic for a break down of the work, this has still not been recieved.
While the mechanic was friendly, the overall experience was extremely disappointing. I will not be using this company again.

Rubbish!! Avoid!!
Well, where do we start with someone who promises to fix something then changes his mind leaving you high and dry without a car? I'd give minus 5 stars if possible.
My car broke down on a Weds eve, neighbour messaged me the next day to say oil had leaked out. Rang this guy and he was friendly and chatty on the phone, said he had one of his guys out on an awkward job so he'd send him afterwards, if not he'd come himself. Turned up in the afternoon, claimed to have found the issue with an oil leak, possible crack at the back of the rocker cover. Seemed genuine, saying he would tell me if it was worth repairing the car or just replacing it. Told me it was def worth keeping. He left saying he'd get a quote from BMW for the part then send over full costs later. I asked about labour costs, he said £90 an hour with 4-5 hours labour. Later never came until later into the evening when he text me saying BMW never got back to him so it will probably be the morning. The next day I get a call saying it'll be a thousand pounds due to the part being £453 from BMW. No mention of getting the part anywhere else, whereas previous mechanics I've used all have other places they can either source parts or recommend you get your own from. Then he's umming and arring about how long it'll take and "I'm worried I'll find more things wrong once I take it all apart." Er isn't that your job? And doesn't that lead to potentially more work for you, you know, your livelihood?
So after the call I text and asked if he could source a part cheaper elsewhere, no response, so then I sent a part I found on ebay asking if that was the right one so I can order it. No reply. Later I rang his number, no answer. Tried again later and left a voicemail, nothing. Rang later still, no answer and that was that. For a mobile mechanic he was totally useless and left me having to call round other mobile mechanics to fix it. I managed to get hold of one the next day who actually did carry out the work necessary. Pointless relying on fixing cars if you're not going to fix cars.
In response to your reply:-
1) I didn't say anything other than what you have said, you came out, thought you'd found the issue but even when you put your camera round the back you said "I think it's where that stickers peeled back, behind there..." But you weren't 100% sure. The next mechanic found it straight away and said "It's cracked round the back where the breather pipe is attached."
2) We had no discussion over whether I source parts but you can't validate or warranty them, you just said it was BMW only part and it's £453. There was no discussion on sourcing other parts and there are plenty of verified parts dealers online, Autodoc for example, so saying it's a dealer only part is nonsense.
3) Yes and? You didn't carry out the work. You gave me a final price, didn't ask if I wanted to go ahead with it or not, just radio silence. Basically everyone I've spoken to has said "Seems like they just didn't want to do the job."
4) I don't think that was a technician, I think that was you Richie and if that's how you treat people, and then reply to a poor review, which was based on your own behaviour, well good luck.
At the end of the day you haven't responded once, or even tried to respond, you left me hanging. No discussion on parts sourcing, in fact you took my car apart to get to the back of the rocker cover then left it like that and disappeared. No matter how you want to dress this up, you made a mockery of yourselves with poor work ethics.

Ripoff. And wouldn't send invoice.
I expected to pay a bit more for the quick service but got charged £740 for a £250 job. I wouldn't even have minded paying that but charging £90 for a 10 minutes diagnostic then not locating the faults is bad. So after paying the £740 the problem remained. Our regular mechanic confirmed the faulty water pump could have been identified in minutes so we could have had everything sorted in one job albeit a bit expensive and I would still have been happy to get back on the road. Fortunately our regular guy was so shocked at what we were paying he stayed late and did the job for £530 instead of the £830 Ritchie wanted. So overall a disappointing experience and I can only recommend them for real emergencies. Over pricing because it becomes 2 jobs when it should only have been one is not good.
Avoid these scammers if you can
