I have just signed up for electricity from So Energy at y new house. Two days later, before moving in, I get an email asking me for a £100 refundable deposit. I checked their website and it says they only ask for this if your low credit score requires it. But I have a good credit score (verified by a credit score agency) and have never defaulted on a utility payment. So it appears So Energy must be asking almost everyone for £100 upfront. Surely this is an issue for the regulator? Care to comment, So Energy?
Not as cheap as British Gas offer via my council, not fixed price
I'd give zero stars if I could. The incompetent "engineer" who came out to instal smart meters (I didn't even want them but energy company wanted them to be installed) slapped a DO NOT USE sticker on my less than a year old boiler and capped the gas, leaving me with no gas hob to cook this evening's meal, no hot water to shower and no heating. My son has just come out of hospital and he has been left in a cold house. I AM FUMING. The "engineer" said there are black marks on the wall above my boiler so he had to cap it off. I said I have photographic evidence that the black marks on the wall are simply from the old boxing in of the previous boiler pipework. I showed him the time-stamped photographs of the previous boiler in situ and two weeks later the new boiler in situ which clearly shows the marks on the wall on the day of installation. It's a straight black line from the boxing in that had been taken down. I have the certificate for installation date of the boiler. I have every piece of evidence needed. But the "engineer" refused to turn my gas back on. I called the company who installed my boiler 11 months ago and they can't come out for at least three days, probably five, at best, to turn my gas back on. I have now had to make an emergency callout to a company to get my gas turned back on again to keep my son warm and YOU will be getting the bill. I will be seeking compensation because your "engineer" states on the form he left me 'Spillage above boiler and unable to confirm it is from old boiler' desite my showing photographic evidence that the marks were on the wall on the day the boiler was installed, SO HE WAS ABLE TO CONFIRM MARKS ON THE WALL WERE FROM OLD BOILER. I have now lost an afternoon's pay as I'm self-employed. I am unable to cook my son's meal this evening and it is freezing in the house. TO SAY I AM FUMING IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. This was totally unnecessary when I showed the necessary evidence.
Employee who dealt with my phone call understood my objection to the companies renewal calculations based on incorrect estimates and dealt with the previous error efficiently and I am glad I bothered to make contact
IT is SO easy to sort things with this energy company can chat instantly and get things sorts or just get answers to all those things like energy tariffs, ways to save on energy smart meters etc they are always willing to help.
Considering the cost of living crisis, and price hikes on every household bill.
Im happy with my renewal, it means I can put the heating on and not sit in a cold house this winter.
A good reliable and competitive service given the high prices at the moment. Nakeeta was particularly helpful when I called about my rising bills
Great experience as soon as I rang and said about the worry of the cost of my electric it was all sorted within five minutes and I was happy with the result and how it was sorted and handled.

The AI system is labouriously slow and disjointed. Asked to hold at least 6 times hung up on twice and had to start from the beginning. All this was to renew, I would hate to use this system if it was anything with a slight complication
