Karolina in Swindon.

Went to Asda Swindon and was lucky enough to see Karolina. She helped me choose my glasses and had a good eye (pun intended!) for what suited me. She explained about the offer which happily saved me money. She is a credit to the store and was happy and friendly too.

Many attempts to fit glasses, all failed, not fit for purpose.........still no response

Easier to paste the complaint.........
Good Afternoon,

I'm not a happy bunny nether is my wife................. My wife (who has been wearing glasses since childhood, with no issues with any frames during all those years),visited your Adsa Superstore as Bilton, near Hull (out local shop with a round trip of 18 miles). This visit was in July (hard to say exactly as the receipt has not printed the date very well, so attached picture.
She purchased a pair of glasses for £45 and awaited the phone call to pop back and pick up the glasses once the lens had been fitted. After around 10-14 days we went back to pick them up, so far so good. When my wife returned to the car, she immediately said that the glasses didn't feel right. I suggested that she went straight back into the store and had them looked at and corrected. My wife said they would probably be ok, it's just that they were new.

For a week or two she persisted with the glasses, but she was not happy with them, my wife maintained that they did not fit right and kept falling down her face, so we visited the same Asda store and the assistant adjusted the arms of the frame, suggesting that my wife gives it a try and see how they go! We actually did this procedure three times in total at Asda Bilton.

This my wife did, but still the glasses kept feeling uncomfortable and falling down her face. We decided to try another Asda opticians; this time we went to Asda Kingswood. Basically, the same result. Adjust the frames and see how it goes.......

Finally in desperation we returned to the Bilton Asda and my wife suggested to the assistant that the actual arms of the glasses were to wide apart which resulted in the glasses falling down her face. The assistant was very reluctant to actually bend the arms in centre along their length, but did it anyway, as nothing was working.

This helped a little, but the falling down the face issue continued - it's worth noting that at this point my wife had been suffering headaches, due to the constant mis-fitting of the glasses and constant adjustment of them, coupled with the glasses being misaligned with her eyes, due to an improper fitting and thus eye strain which contributed to her headaches - which only started when she first started to wear the glasses.

Over the last few days, my wife has even had an elastic band holding the glasses in place, but this does not solve the issue. Nor should we be even contemplating new glasses been help in place by an elastic band.

My wife and I concluded that she had a narrow face - this has in the past led to her having child's glasses fitted. During or last visit to Asda Bilton, two days ago, my wife decided that she would try the children's glasses and found them to fit very well indeed, so she decided to purchase a pair.

The assistant told my wife that she could not have children's glasses as they were subsidised, my wife offered to pay the normal price without the subsidy - makes sense. But the assistant insisted that my wife could not have the children's glasses and would have to ask the manager. So an appointment was made for 2PM today (25th August 2026). We made the 18-milee round trip and were told that "the manager was not in today" . Apparently they had called earlier in the day, but we hadn't heard the calls or had a chance to check voicemail messages, But the point is, we had made the appointment two days ago !!

So here we are now, my wife still trying to carry on with badly fitting (because they are to big), glasses. Wanting to but a pair that actually fit her and being told she can't have them as they are for children.

Since when does someone have to fit into an age category in order to buy a pair of glasses, you purchase a pair of glasses that fit you, not a pair that keeps falling down your face, being held in place by an elastic band and still gives you headaches because they are not fitting correctly.

We are now considering a claim for ageism against Asda, for not allowing a customer who is not a child, to actually choose a child's glasses because they actually fit her smaller face .

Of course, could now return the glasses to Asda as not being fit for purpose and demand a full refund. But that fails to address the many visits to Asda stores to address the problem, only to be thwarted by your ridicule's rules stating that a person cannot puy a pair of glasses that actually fit her

I will be keeping a copy of this email and if I have not received a very positive response to this email, I will be posting the whole thing on customer review websites.

Extremely disappointed in Asda

Eye test denied

Although I do value the quality and the glasses are reliable due to long traffic delays, and signing in for disabled parking allowance, I was 12 minutes late. A woman was not as friendly as the usual staff, and denied my eye test. Having safety reasons for test due to health I would have hoped this member of staff would have been more considerate, I normally wait a while, patiently if there is a delay, but on this occasion I don't feel that appreciated as a regular customer sadly. Let's hope I get the normal staff next time...

The experience I received from Asda…

The experience I received from Asda Hyde Cheshire
On arrival I was made to feel very welcome by Becky and staff. The optician who was a temporary fill in from the north east was exceptionally well mannered and courteous in the way he assisted me with the examination. Once again, I cannot express more the help and assistance Becky, her sister, and all the staff had shown me in my experience with the Hyde branch

Asda Telford - Customer Service Exemplary!

My husband and I were fed up with Specsavers 'production line' and being herded to buy glasses. We both went to Asda opticians in Telford for exam and to buy glasses. What a refreshing change! They have time for their customers, they engage with you, and....the husband apparently has cataracts that are now at the stage where 'they need to be monitored closely'. That was never picked up at 'the other place'. We know where we will be going in future! Thank you for proper customer service!

I seem to wait soooo long for contacts to arrive! This month I ordered 2 weeks ago and STILL waiting for my contacts. I’m
away on holiday in a few days and it looks like I’ll have no contacts.
I have an account which gives me no clue as to when I may get them, just says on order, no tracking, no updates, no clue!

Customer focused, professional staff

I attended for my first over 60 sight test and opted to include the extra test available to look for early signs of cataracts or other issues. It was useful to have this option available. My prescription had changed and I ordered new frames and lenses. When I came to collect, unfortunately the reading area of the varifocal was too small. This was determined by one of the opticians and the frame and lens was sent back to be changed, without quibble or additional cost. When the glasses came back, everything was as it should be. Thanks in particular to Noor and Lisa for your help in getting everything right. Off the back of this help, I ordered a spare pare of glasses, which I'm very pleased with. Great service and as an Asda Opticians customer for a few years now, a better selection of frames than two or three years ago, especially for people like me who needs a wider frame.

Awful customer service

Redditch branch- shambles - unhelpful staff. Took a prescription in on my phone expecting to be able to email it to them and they would only accept a printed copy no flexibility no help just ‘we can only accept a printed version’ no customer service at all.

They call the day before to make sure you’re attending and then waste the appointment.

Rubbish

Got to say this

Got to say this, had my appointment on Friday 17th July 13.05pm.at Mansfield Asda.
The four ladies were so friendly, helpful and honest, an absolute pleasure.
The prices were really good, the sales lady put me right saving me a substantial amount off my final bill. The optician was so professional and so nice.
Many Thanks to you all.

ABSOLUTE DISGRACE

ABSOLUTE DISGRACE. Do not trust ASDA with your eyes!ASDA Opticians online is a complete and utter joke of a service. They are an absolute disgrace, incredibly expensive, and completely useless from start to finish.Their internal communication is non-existent. They constantly lose prescriptions that you have already sent them. Even though a contact lens prescription is valid for a full year, they will demand you upload it over and over again. You upload it, they lose it, you upload it again, and then they lie and claim they don't have it.To make it worse, they accept your money and then randomly cancel your order without warning, leaving you completely stranded with NO contact lenses for over a month. How are people supposed to see? They do not care at all. Their customer service is garbage and they are a total load of rubbish.Do not waste your time or your hard-earned money on these clowns. Go straight to Vision Direct instead ,their website actually works, they don't play stupid games with your paperwork, and the lenses arrive literally the next day. Avoid ASDA at all costs!

Classes

I picked up my classes from Asda Walsgrave store in Coventry on the 10th July, and since that I’ve been back 4 times to get them adjusted as I can never get them correct first time as I’m very fussy, but the lovely colleague Natasha did them for me every time and she was so helpful and nice about it

Just been to Asda Opticians.

Just been to Asda, Drakehouse in Sheffield. I have to say the optical advisor was brilliant, very clear in what she was doing, I had the OCT test(+£9) and she explained everything I needed to know about it.
The ophthalmic optician, Vanessa, was very comprehensive in her testing of my eyesight I think it’s the best thorough examination I’ve had done in a long time.

First class eye care at ASDA…

Have had eye tests yearly at ASDA Bishop Auckland for past 16 yrs and have always had superb service. The optician is more bothered about eye care than selling glasses. Talking about glasses, their range is limited but very competitively priced. I have no hesitation recommending them.
