Renewal Pricing Felt Predatory — Switched providers
My renewal with Only Paws increased by 19.8% despite no change in cover. When I questioned this, I was repeatedly given the same scripted explanation about “continuous cover,” even though its irrelevant to my situation and Only Paws themselves were offering equivalent cover at a lower price on comparison sites.
The whole experience felt opaque, dismissive, and frankly predatory. Customer service didn’t engage with my concerns at all — just repeated the same line over and over. I’ve cancelled my renewal and moved to Whistle & Wag, who offer the same cover at a fair and transparent price.
Disappointing experience from a company I expected better from.

Only Paws used vet information from 6 years previous where I had gained advice on my Romanian rescue dog biting as a puppy. I had forgotten this was ever an issue as so much time had lapsed. They cancelled the insurance policy based on my dog showing, "aggressive tendancies" and would not pay out on my claim. They asked how my dog was on walks and I answered honestly that he pay pull or growl at other dogs as he is frightened of his own shadow but that when my friends bring dogs round they play happily in the garden. They joined the 6 year old information and the leader pulling and growling to judge him as a violent dog. Disappointed and annoyed to not cover how I feel about this as there is clearly no understanding towards puppy and rescue behaviour and how this can change and significantly improve with love and training.

Voiding a policy is a last resort and will only happen when aggressive behaviour happened before a policy started and was not disclosed during the quote journey.
If you disagree with the decision, there is an appeal process which gives you and your vet the opportunity to provide further information that may not have been included in your initial claim.

All round brilliant!
I've been with only paws for a few years now for 2 cats. One has regular vet visits with our local vet and a dermatology specialist. All the claims I've made have been settled in full promptly, this goes for direct claims and ones where I pay the vet then they pay me back.
The website is very well designed and easy to use. The claim form is simple.
The other week I submitted the wrong type of claim, so I contacted their support team and they withdrew that claim for me and instructed me on how to make that claim correctly.
I'm really happy with Only Paws and avidly recommend them!
