Shoes for your dream flight...
We are extremely happy with the quality of IDS shoes—we’ve just purchased our 7th pair, and our children absolutely love dancing in them!
To elevate their customer service even further, I have two small suggestions:
Size Guide: It would be immensely helpful to include foot width and girth/circumference measurements in the online size chart. This would make selecting the right fit remotely much easier and more accurate for parents.
Customs Clearance: Automatically emailing the commercial invoice directly to the customer as soon as the order is handed over to the courier (e.g., DHL) would help prevent shipping holds and delays at export/import customs.
EU buyers avoid buying from here
Ordered dance shoes to Ireland. Shoes €82.95, delivery €33.95. On arrival DHL demanded €45.17 before releasing the parcel: €3 duty, €27.67 VAT, and a €14.50 "Duty Tax Processing" fee charged by DHL itself.
Final cost: €162 for a pair of €82.95 shoes. Delivery and import charges came to €79 — almost as much as the shoes.
Their terms say "customs and duty charges" are your responsibility, fair enough. But nothing warns you the courier adds its own separate handling fee on top, and my checkout showed €0.00 tax.
EU customers: check an EU supplier first. Once you add delivery, duty, VAT and courier fees, the UK price isn't the bargain it looks like.

The guide for measuring my feet was…
The guide for measuring my feet was helpful. I have flat, narrow feet that are getting longer with my advancing age (just under 70) due to deterioration of supportive tissue. The right is longer than the left foot. I bought the Tempo black leather/air mesh dance sneaker to spare my feet with studio practice. The laces give security, and the 1.5 cm heel does not agitate the osteoarthritis in my feet. Solid purchase for a tough consumer.
Factory shop visit and purchase
Went to the factory shop one Saturday for a fitting for men’s trainer shoes. Had a really valuable hour there trying on several styles and sizes after the size I ordered over the web was too small (UK11). Settled on a UK13 in the end as I have wide feet. They are superb and very supportive - couldn’t be better. Would definitely revisit when I need another pair.

Incompetent business
I placed an order for my dance shies and paid for expedite shipping. After two weeks—nothing! I ask International Shoes where my shoes are, and they say I ordered them during the annual factory shut down! So they will not be shipped for 30 days after I ordered them.
You really have to wonder how a business could be run this poorly!!
My recommendation, find a different place to purchase dance shoes!

Bespoke shoe?!
I need to start this review by saying that I have used International Dance Shoes for ballroom shoes for years and I love them however my latest interaction with them has been awful.
Having decided to try getting some latin dance shoes from them as well but not knowing what size I would need I carefully went through the website to ensure I picked an in stock pair of shoes that were in no way bespoke so they could be returned if they did not fit.
Unfortunately the shoes were far too small for me and when I contacted IDS I was told I had picked a bespoke shoe and they were therefore non returnable. I asked for someone to call me to discuss and when I received no communication I emailed again asking where the information was. I was then told I ticked a box agreeing to them being non returnable which I absolutely did not.
Eventually after further emails from me with proof that this shoe is not shown as bespoke on the website they agreed to me returning them for a refund.
I have worked in retail environments for many years, mistakes happen but it is how they are corrected that remains with the customer long after the interaction has happened. I received no explanation or apology for the mix up weather it was a tech fault or human error which is what has dissappointed me the most especially as I have previously been a long term customer.
Edited 31/7/26 after reply as I can not respond otherwise- I ordered Flavia SIze 6.5 in tan. Order number- 7478. Not the show you are describing. This show is still available and is not shown as being bespoke

Do not order online from here
I ordered 2 pairs of shoes based on the measurements that they provided on their website. The shoes were shipped to my location in Seattle USA and I paid for the shipping. The shoes do not fit at all and are much larger than the measurements provided online. They refuse to do free returns or even exchanges and the cost to ship the shoes back is hundreds of USD. Their customer service agent Lewis is not responsive and has not engaged in finding a solution. I would never recommend ordering online from this place again.

Shoe sizes are incorrect on their page and cost too much to return.
Shoe sizes are incorrect on their page. Wanted to return them and it’s going to cost $200 (more than the shoes themselves) and they don’t provide any assistance with the cost. Now I just have shoes too big and a sad birthday.

Rude customer service
I just rang to ask why the measurements that I had added to my order did not show at checkout and was told that there was nowhere on the website to do that - I had literally just done it and have done it again since to make sure that I wasn't going mad. The representative then asked what the width of my foot is and when I told her, she said that was really wide and I should try measuring again - as if to say that my foot width isn't possible, I do have really wide feet and apparently their extra wide is 1.5cm too narrow for my bizarre feet. I already don't feel great about my weird feet but this attitude was entirely unnecessary. Needless to say, I will not be buying from here. Also, I do feel that if you are offering 'made to order' and asking the customer to send their measurements, it does suggest 'made to measure'
The worst service
The worst service. Express delivery to Europe doesn't work (I paid 47 euros for it). The sender refused to help me find the package that was lost in transit. The sender also refused to refund the money for the missing order. The sender refused to provide me with any assistance related to the order. This is not a reliable seller for Europe. I strongly do not recommend them.

Beautiful shoes, awful aftercare if something goes wrong
We have been buying four pairs of shoes (2 Latin, 2 ballroom), every 6 months for almost 8 years. Originally they were around £100 per pair, although recently this has increased to £130. They are beautiful shoes and fit very well. However, the latest pair of Latin shoes which arrived on 14 October lasted less than 8 weeks. In practice last week one strap snapped. I contacted IDS and was asked for photos, then asked was I sure we hadn’t added an extra hole (we didn’t). Eventually after some back and forth they offered to repair them. This seems ridiculous to me, since Timpsons can repair a strap without incurring the cost of 2 way delivery. I was also underwhelmed with their offer of “a voucher” (no value mentioned) for money off my next purchase. As a loyal customer of some 8 years standing I felt a replacement pair was more appropriate. I have been flatly refused in this request, hence this review. Other brands available are Supadance, Ray Rose.
Edit: yes, they offered to repair them. I don’t think that’s good enough. When I spend £130 on a pair of shoes I expect them to last more than 2 months. The fact that they “usually” do I would say means there was a problem with this particular pair, and a faulty product should be replaced. I have literally spent THOUSANDS with this company, but that counts for nothing.
Further edit: the latest pair of shoes although claiming to be the same size are longer and narrower. My daughter has nationals next week and no shoes, thanks to IDS, despite my having spent £260 since October on them. I would post photos if I could.

BEWARE OF HIDDEN PRICES, BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, BAD FITTING
BEWARE OF HIDDEN PRICES! I was charged the full amount at checkout with no mention of customs or duty fees, WHICH OTHER COMPANIES LIKE RAY ROSE DO CLEARLY DISCLOSE. After the order shipped, DHL contacted me asking for an additional $44 in duties that were never disclosed at purchase. When I contacted IDS, they rudely blamed me for "not knowing my country's policies" and they quoted a line buried in their Terms & Conditions, but this was not visible or clearly stated before payment, I even looked at the FAQs and terms for this. I was under the impression that by paying the shipping fees at checkout, all costs were covered.
IDS refused to take responsibility or offer a reasonable solution, and even stated that if I refuse delivery, I’ll still be charged for return postage. This experience felt misleading and dishonest. Be aware that your final cost could be significantly higher than what you pay at checkout, and customer support will not help you resolve it.
In addition, prior to purchase, I contacted IDS for advice on fitting with my measurements. The shoes fit horribly, my toes are past the end of the shoe, and to return them I would have to eat the 38 euros + 44 dollar duty that I paid, plus the shipping to send them back. NEVER purchasing from IDS again.
Shipping
The company didn't notify me about a double shipping payment of $116 after I payed £38 for shipping on their site. They claimed to have put it in the fine print where no one can see it and screwed me over saying if I want a refund I would have to pay double the $116 to send them back. Do not recommend these shoes if you don't live in the UK. Horrible customer service and bad notification about shipping.

WORST buying experience I've ever had
WORST buying experience I've ever had. Did not deliver my package. Will not refund my money and I'm being charged hundreds of dollars extra because I live in the United States and they shipped it back to the United Kingdom so now I'm supposed to pay for those charges? Literally lost $500 and received nothing. What did customer service do to help me? Nothing.

Received a pair with different sizes…
Received a pair with different sizes (have photographic proof) and they definitely felt different on the feet. One fit great, another one hurting as it was small. Contacted the team and all they did was argued that it’s the same size, sent me their photos that didn’t prove anything and later finally admitted that there was a few mm difference. And the end of the day, they didn’t want to refund the posting cost even though there was clearly a manufacturing fault on their side. One of the worst customer experiences.

recommendation with shoe incorrect
"Our dance team ordered 6 pairs of shoes from this brand. Due to shipping and import costs, each person is paying €170 for a pair of shoes. Given this high amount, it's especially important that the shoes fit well. We sought assistance in advance to ensure the right sizes. In the email, we were given measurements for the width of our feet and the width options for the shoes. To be safe, we even ordered a narrower size than recommended, but even that was too wide. Unfortunately, 4 out of the 6 pairs don’t fit. Be careful! Due to the special soles, the shoes cannot be returned."
Wow amazing customer service
Wow , customer service 110% .we had a slight issue with a pair of shoes .The issue was dealt with immediately and also given some lovely free gifts .Amazing .
The delivery was the worst I've ever…
The delivery was the worst I've ever experienced: it took 4 weeks and went via UPS. Eventhough I was home every single day UPS didn't ring the bell & send the parcel back. I've contacted Joheela beforehand for the right tracking number - never got an answer. I am beyond disappointed and won't consider ordering with them again.

Working as a professional dancer I’ve…
Working as a professional dancer I’ve worn a lot of different dance shoes and have to say I’ve never had more problems with a physical shoe or with customer service than I have with this brand. They are extremely rude when trying to get any sort of help from them and their shoes fall apart so quickly. I ordered a pair of standard shoes after my previous pairs suede had started to fall off and rip after 3 months of use. I got my new pair in and within a week of wearing them the suede started to rip and separate from the shoe. I reached out and they refused to offer any sort of help, saying that I should just glue the shoe back together. After spending more than $600 on shoes with this company (and the possibility of so many more orders through me and my students) you’d think they would want to keep a customer. I will never been wearing these again, I’d rather switch to EF or Aida as they are extremely helpful and have actual quality shoes.
