Speeds only good in parts of Europe; the UK user on here who said dial up 1980's was not kidding

Update:
Whoa, Koofr blames me for speed problems!? Do they think I'm a senile elderly person who doesn't know what high speed internet is? That I live in the countryside? We invented your apps over here in this part of the world you use on a daily basis... I've dropped you to one star over that and going through my review history like I'm a criminal on trial.

"Based on your other reviews it seems you may have a general issue with your internet providers international speeds. Sometimes contacting an ISP directly and asking why speeds to foreign locations are much slower than local services results in them fixing things, but they can be a hassle to deal with."

In the middle of one of America's fastest high speed cities known for tech infrastructure, my speeds are lagging? Google chose this locale as one of the first cities entering the Wifi market! WE HAVE AN APPLE CAMPUS HERE AND OTHER MAJOR COMPUTER HQS!

Yeah, I left a review for ONE EU based service with shoddy bad speeds for America. My other negative EU cloud service review was due to the file rejection in coding, not the speed which was fine. Yours does not work well outside of your region. I access UK file sharing regularly and my own daily cloud service as my #1 is IceDrive, a UK brand hosted there and Gibraltar.

Blaming the customer is cheap. Yes, you attract other users from the USA, the Dale Gribble off "King of the Hill" types worried about data privacy. Data privacy has its value, but that's ALL you are getting for a customer base. Do not tell me your speeds are appealing to people with files other than sharing their kids' soccer games or doing something morally weird they can't upload on Dropbox.

Would appreciate you quit making up stories on the spot, but yeah, I'll probably log in here and be shamed for wearing the wrong brand of clothes next? A user must be wearing the right denim when uploading to achieve optimum speeds?

I told the Koofr team when they blamed my speeds to quit contacting me, and they keep arguing over e-mail it's my speeds post refund to prove me wrong like they're making a living off customer blaming, so I am sending my complaints with their correspondence to StackSocial's support team. Apple doesn't run a company like this. Koofr, you want to succeed in America? Please fix your speed issue, stop blaming customers, and learn to respect boundaries. I'm more upset at all that, not that I needed a refund.

The refund was processed by StackSocial not Koofr, like they make it look here anyway. Koofr had 0% input in processing it. I made them aware of my desire for one, that was all, as a backup plan if StackSocial didn't process it right away.

The other disgruntled speed person here on TrustPilot is UK based. Are you going to next say that customer isn't getting good speeds from being in the USA with our "slow" Internet too in a top global tech hub?

Original review:
Not for North American customers. Please put a disclaimer that the speeds are unusable and should not be sold to people in countries outside of Eastern continental Europe and maybe central Europe.

I aimed for this to be my cloud backup #3. 2GB was estimated to upload between 90-120 minutes, no matter how long I waited.

The UK customer here is proof that being in Britain isn't close enough for the speeds to work. I thought that was a fluke. Got a lifetime deal via another website. It isn't a lifetime deal, or any deal, if I can't use the product. I'm requesting a refund from the third party website of purchase.

As someone who really gives a push to supporting businesses outside of the big tech names, this is heartbreaking your product doesn't work out.

Hi,

We appreciate the feedback.

As we proudly state, all our infrastructure is hosted inside EU. Because of this, connection speeds can be influenced by the quality of international routing from your location to our servers in Germany, FInland etc.

That said, we do have many users in regions such as North America and Asia who experience strong performance. In some cases, differences in international connectivity, mostly related to local internet providers, can affect speeds when accessing services hosted abroad.

Based on your other reviews it seems you may have a general issue with your internet providers international speeds. Sometimes contacting an ISP directly and asking why speeds to foreign locations are much slower than local services results in them fixing things, but they can be a hassle to deal with.

We’re sorry to hear that your first use didn’t meet expectations and wish that your experience with our service was better. Your refund has already been processed, and we hope you’re able to find a solution that better suits your needs.

It is not possible do connect to Koofr via WebDav. No error message. No information. We can find the adress of the server. Horrible app and service.

TLDR: User used wrong password, everything works fine now that he corrected his mistake.

Hi Philippe,

We are seeing no issues with people connecting to WebDAV, there are hundreds of thousands of such active connections at this very moment.

We also have extensive support pages dedicated to WebDAV and how to connect:

https://koofr.eu/help/koofr_with_webdav/how-do-i-connect-a-service-to-koofr-through-webdav/

Missing error message indicates your settings are very likely incorrect and you are not reaching our servers at all.

You are also always welcome to ask for help on our Reddit page or directly at our support inside the application.

Addendum 2.4.2026:
Based on the information provided by the user, the issue was incorrect password used when establishing the connection, which resulted in the security brute-force protection activation. User had previous Webdav connections established for more than a month, without any issues, so it is definitely possible to connect to Koofr over Webdav, but correct credentials need to be provided.

We were able to confirm, that Philippe has since managed to login into his account and uses it without issues again.

Good European cloud service

I bought the lifetime subscription about 6 weeks ago. So far everything is working well. Upload and download speeds are good. The user interface is easy to understand. Another good thing is that I can connect my Koofr cloud to Gdrive, which makes it easy to transfer files.

The only disadvantage

The only disadvantage of the application is that in most cases I can't see synchronization running (no icons in the local folder, no indication of sync in the application-window), although files do properly synchronize!

Been with them since 2022 and happy.....

Been with them since 2022 and very happy. Koofr are a European Company based in Slovenia. This company seems very genuine - even open source their security "vault" software.

The interface is a bit basic - you can sort files by DATE/TIME but they show a generic time like "few minutes ago", "month ago", "year ago", and to see the actual date you have to mouse-over a particular file.. Bit odd and I can't see I can change it. However it then excels in giving you a full Activity History.

I just use the web interface and Upload an Download speed seem fine.

I also have a similar lifetime account with pCloud and having my files stored on two separate platforms I feel secure. I previously had a bad experience with Zoolz (a UK company that suddenly "converted" their lifetime accounts into pay yearly ones or loose your data..... Terrible experience - go and Google to learn more.

So try Koofr out with a free 10GB account and if it suits then upgrade as I did.

Not what I expected

This is an edited review based on the information obtained from Koofr:

I bought Koofr Cloud because it seems to be the most reliable service. pCloud keeps losing my files, and I have no way to recover them (business files, for example). Other companies have a bad reputation, also associated with losing files.

My purpose was to transfer from pCloud to Koofr, having a more reliable cloud service that doesn't have indications of losing files from users. However, what I noticed is that Koofr doesn't operate as I would expect. According to what I learned:

You must remove your files and folders from the “Sync” folder in order to save storage from your laptop. However, the sync option is activated by default when you upload their app. What does this mean? You are using their app in sync mode, and when you move your files to another folder, they remain in the cloud and vanish from your laptop.

Here’s the problem I have with that: I can’t access the same files from my laptop, unless I go through their website. That is not practical for someone who uses a cloud service on a daily basis.

I also can’t understand why they would want to keep the cloud service in Sync mode. That may be useful for people who want to have everything on their desktop. But pretty soon, you run out of storage on your computer.

I truly wanted this service, and I wanted to trust Koofr. However, their replies showed me stubbornness. Although they explained patiently and quickly enough (despite not giving you a clear option on their app or website for customer service, which I had to find on my own using AI systems), what I noticed is that they have no interest whatsoever in altering their procedures. Their correct answers should be: “We are taking that into consideration for our future updates.” But instead, they asked me to move files around between folders, which doesn’t make my life any easier or justify having the service they provide.

In contrast, another cloud service I purchased recently, to replace pCloud (which is truly based on false advertisement and doesn’t protect anything), was clear enough in telling me about their recent updates without trying to justify their previous limitations and bad reviews. I felt much safer in trusting a company that admits its mistakes and works towards improving itself. Not only that, they offered me a special deal to keep me as their client.

I had mentioned this previously and I mention it again: Sending users to Reddit to find answers or making them talk to an AI is not the way. I understand many companies are doing this now but it’s truly disrespectful to the user. At least, there should be a direct contact option next to the chatbot. That isn’t complicated to do.

What I was looking for was a cloud service that truly saves storage from my laptop while operating like an external drive. Not a sync system. Koofr focuses too much on syncing files. That is great for people who want a messy desktop. Not people like me, who want to see their desktop clean.

I appreciate the explanations that Koofr has provided me here and through email. I am also grateful to their wonderful and reliable service. I also appreciate that Koofr was quick to refund and even warned me about the files I had already uploaded in order not to lose them. I may in the future buy their service if they take what I mentioned into consideration and have a look at what pCloud and Internxt are offering users and why they do things the way they do. It is in consideration of all of that that I am changing my previous review. Still, although I really wanted the Koofr service, it is not something I see helping me in my businesses.

The Koofr package I bought offers 1TB of storage. My laptop has 500GB. So, basically, I can only copy about 400GB to Koofr while keeping my laptop super slow in their default sync mode. The other option is to keep moving files around, which makes it too complex to operate directly with the same files.

Hi Dan,

First, the two way sync functionality you are describing is exactly one of the main features and good cloud storage service offers. And on Koofr it works exactly as advertised and described, it keeps you files between PC and cloud in sync, without losing them.

Second, you are in no need to use just the two-way sync, in fact Koofr only designates a single cloud folder called My desktop sync for this (unlike some services where whole drive is automatically synced). So you can simply store any amount of files and folders you wish outside of the default sync and none of those will take up space on your PC (https://koofr.eu/blog/posts/setting-up-synchronization-in-koofr).

Third, support is accessible through the Contact support form inside the application, and you got a reply to your query in less than 12 hours (you wrote to us during the night). There are also a lot of resources, tutorials and FAQs available on our website: https://koofr.eu/help and https://koofr.eu/blog

And lastly, you can of course ask for the refund if you are not satisfied with the service, we never have issues with that. But you didn't make the purchase with us, so we are not in control of your refund. Also, you still seem to have more than 20% of your account filled up, we would advise you to clear that before the refund request.

Won't allow email address updates for log in. Waste of money and security

I have a lifetime subscription and recently started moving to a new email address, well Koofr won't allow me to update my email address since it is a lifetime account. Making my files less secure and vulnerable all because they can't add a simple feature that almost every online provider or anything allows. When were emails ever permanent? Highly recommend using a difference service instead of throwing your money on koofr.

The support I received from the company…

The support I received from the company is outstanding, particularly in this day and age where support is hard to come by. They've always fixed my issues and responded in a timely manner. I've experienced no issues with the program itself, just needed assistance in the initial setup. The program is great! Highly recommend!

Hands down the best storage provider out there

Safe, secure, super ultra reliable and fast. I loved Koofr from day1, the only thing I hope is that they will still be around for the next 50 years. Plus, tbh I found it better than Google Drive and Dropbox. Amazing services and prices.

KOOFR is absolutely a great cloud, but...

KOOFR is absolutely a great cloud storage: fast, secure, never failing, reliable and cost convenient. The only point that prevents me to rate it 5 stars is that it's not possible to search files on a shared link. That is especially inconvenient when you share a link with lots of files in it.

Avoid this company at all cost. RUN

I felt scammed buying from them.
They won't let me change my address. The transfer speed is only few kilobytes per seconds. 1980's dial up internet is faster than their speed. Android and IOS apps are mediocre.

I regret buying their 1TB unlimited offer from Stack Social.

I find the customer service agents to be very unprofessional rude and vindictive people. This company is being manned by only 7 people, and I won't trust my data to these people who are very hostile to their customers who have left an honest review about the slowness of their network.
If you are current customer, never complain or they will throttle your data on the spot. That is how vindictive these people are.

Avoid this company at all cost. RUN!

Hi Albert,
There is nothing scam about our company. Upon your signup attempt, our system clearly stated the email you wanted to use cannot be used for signup. You then used another email and wrote multiple requests through various channels, wanting to change your email. Our support gave a clear and quick answer each time, explaining that the email address was blocked by our security system and could not be reused.

Your account works fine; were the speed you mentioned true, you could not have uploaded the amount of data you did in this short amount of time.

If you are unsatisfied, you can always simply ask for a refund. It is much more elegant than writing threats to our support email.

Edit:
The only issue you had, was that you wanted to use an email address that was blocked by our security system from before. You stated you will write bad reviews online about our service because of this, which you now did. Despite all this, you got a full refund immediately after you asked for it, even though your account was working fine all this time. So the scam you mention was not on our side.
