Never again!
We hired a car at Bari Airport and
unfortunately I did not read the reviews or I would never have hired a car from this company.
At first they try to pressurise you to buy their insurance which I refused as I had my own.
We arrived in the evening and it was dark and raining hard so I couldn't take videos/photos.
When we returned the car a week later they pointed out a tiny mark on the inside of the door which they charged me 460 euros for!!! UNBELIEVABLE!
Completely dishonest.
Luckily my own insurance company refunded the full amount.

Some aspects of the experience worked very well. The service provided by Galdieri Rent was excellent.
However, my concerns relate to the vehicle itself. The car was extremely dirty, both inside and out, when we collected it. It was the first time I have rented a car that was not delivered clean.
Driving it was a nightmare. One of the rear seat belts was not functioning properly, causing the warning light and alarm on the dashboard to beep continuously throughout the entire trip.
The car also felt very unstable on the road. This was likely due to worn tyres, poor wheel balancing, or possibly suspension issues. Whatever the cause, the vehicle would noticeably sway and feel unsettled when cornering.
It felt extremely unsafe and, at times, dangerous to drive.

We rented a car through Galdierirent Bergamo.
Just want to give a positive review to the team as everything turned out as planned and we had a good experience. I think we got a better car than the one we booked, so of course a (+).

Our experience with this rental company was extremely disappointing from start to finish, and I would strongly advise others to avoid it.
We booked and paid for a SUV, yet upon arrival we were given a hatchback instead, with no equivalent vehicle available and no real explanation or solution offered. After waiting more than 30 minutes for the airport shuttle — while traveling with three children — we were put in a situation where arguing or searching for alternatives was practically impossible. I am sure it is a deliberate strategy to pressure exhausted customers into accepting whatever vehicle was available, as they don`t have any SUVs at all. While waiting at the airport, we were calling the office 4 times and the lady on the phone just told us every time that the driver is on his way and is arriving in 2 minutes. When I finally asked what will we do if he doesn`t arrive at all, she told me "Madam, do whatever you like!".
The problems did not end there. On top of that, they later charged an additional EUR 300 for what was essentially a tiny mark on the wheel rim — something so minor that it was barely noticeable. Charging customers such an excessive amount for minimal cosmetic wear was completely unreasonable and opportunistic.
The only reason we were able to recover those EUR 300 was because we had booked the vehicle through a third-party provider and had purchased full insurance coverage through them. Without that protection, we would simply have lost the money over a negligible scratch.
Traveling with family should not feel like a battle from the moment you land at the airport.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was honestly THE WORST rental car experiences we have ever had. I would never use this company again and would not recommend it to anyone.

From my experience it's the best rental car company.
Hired once in Malpensa and Luca was very kind and helpful.
Hired in Pisa and Dario has been amazing, very knowledgeable and flexible.
I remember once when I called them as soon as I got out of the airport to see if they had any car in stock and within half hour I was already on the motorway!
I'd definitely recommend this company, I've introduced my brothers to the branch in Pisa so....
Give it a try.

Having read bad reviews I expected the worst but got the best. If renting from Rome Ciampino the Galdieri car rental is excellent value, nice people and good cars. Thank you to the staff who were super friendly and helpful

I’ve used GaldieriRent several times now, and somehow they keep setting the bar annoyingly high. Every single time: smooth booking, reliable cars, spotless condition, and absolutely zero drama — which is honestly suspicious for car rental.
The cars have always been great, never had a single issue, and they’ve never tried any of the classic rental surprises like “mystery scratches” or “special fees from another dimension.” You book, you collect, you drive, you return — like it should be, but somehow rarely is.
And then there’s the staff. Professional, helpful, and equipped with a very unusual sense of humor. You go in expecting paperwork and keys, and somehow leave after a comedy performance. Not sure if they run a car rental company or secretly audition for stand-up.
It’s rare to find a place that’s both reliable and actually enjoyable to deal with. If you need a car and prefer your rental experience without stress, hidden nonsense, or existential regret, GaldieriRent is the place. At this point, I almost rent a car just to hear what joke they come up with next.

WORST EXPERIENCE!
This company left my family stranded in a foreign country with a small child and stroller because we arrived later than expected due to delays from the new control system. We had a confirmed reservation for 10:00 AM and arrived at 1:18 PM, yet instead of showing any professionalism or trying to help, they simply said the car was “gone” because more than 59 minutes had passed.
What is even more dishonest is that the contract and conditions mentioning this policy were sent AFTER the booking was already made, not transparently before payment. That is completely unfair and misleading.
The staff showed zero empathy, zero flexibility, and absolutely no customer care. No alternative offered, no attempt to assist — just “not our problem.” Leaving travelers with a child abandoned without transportation is disgraceful behavior for any rental company.
If you value your trip, avoid this company. They are unreliable, unprofessional, and clearly do not care about customers once they have your money.

We were due to collect a pre-booked rental car from this company at Pisa Airport on Saturday 2nd May, return 5th May. There was only one assistant at the collection desk and we were left waiting 25 minutes before being attended to. There was only one customer at the desk when we arrived but the single assistant took that long to deal with them, can't imagine how long we would have been kept waiting if there had been a queue.
When we were finally seen we were then told that they would not accept my credit card as it did not have 3 months left on it until expiry. It was due to expire on 31st May, several weeks after the car was due to be returned on 5th, so there would have been no problem in them collecting any additional funds due in the event of damage to the car, but they refused. We offered to pay by American Express but was told they don't accept AMEX.
So after being kept waiting 25 minutes, we were refused a car (on a bank holiday weekend so most other car hire companies at the airport had no cars available). The stress this caused really spoiled our holiday.
I would like to point out that this "greater than 3 months to credit card expiry" is not an industry rule, just a quirk of this particular company so potential customers beware!

The italian authorities have been trying to contact you, during the past 12 months regarding my case - with no answer from you.
Would you be kind enough to answer them?

Most rude counter agent in
Rome airport.
Instead of assisting with questions she kept chatting on her phone, with absurd diva attitude.
When asked to sign contract and gave keys acted like she was doing my husband a huge favor. Definitely shows she doesn't want to work there.
People like this should not be working in contact with public in tourism industry. Unbelievably rude!...no education !!

Great service from Galdierirent at Rimini airport. As I am renting a lot and have lots of experience. Andrea was the greatest ever rental car representative I had to deal with. EVER! Superstar! Thanks a lot, Andrea, you make our holiday.

This shouldn’t even be one star but zero wasn’t an option. I have never actually left a review before but after the traumatising events that happened to my family when returning from holiday I feel compelled to let people know that they should never hire a car with this company. They are scammers. After refusing to take out the excess waiver when collecting the car, they decided that they would punish us when we returned by making out we have damaged the car and made us pay €1000. My children were traumatised as I was threatened with the police in front of them if I did not pay. I have never dealt with a man more aggressive and intimidating in my life - he refused to give his name but this happened the Bergamo branch 2 weeks ago. Please - if you ever take advice from a review make it be this one - do not hire from this company. I wish I could upload a photo to show the supposed damage and I wish I could explain more how awful the whole process was. Scammers!!! Do not use please.

They never sent me a close of contract! They said - go to the airport, it’s all done for you. I called them, emailed them - I got a response that they had my message and that was it! Instead of refunding my €1000 deposit they took another €1000 after I left Italy. Their support is nightmare-you finally get a customer care email and you send your issue, they kindly reply that they will look at your case and that’s the end - never reply! Scam alert!!! Be aware!!!

Extremely Unprofessional Service by Galdieri Car Rental
We rented a car from Galdieri Car Rental services. Unfortunately, on the second day of our vacation, our rental vehicle was stolen during our trip. Following this incident, we cooperated fully with Galdieri, complied with all instructions provided (including some that later proved to be incorrect, causing unnecessary visits between police stations), and fulfilled all our obligations in good faith.
However, our experience with their service was highly unprofessional for the following reasons:
I submitted the police report to Galdieri directly from the police station. At that time, no feedback was provided regarding its accuracy or completeness. Only the following day were we informed that the report was insufficient and that we needed to visit any police station to amend it. After visiting two different stations, we were then told that it was not, in fact, possible to go to just any station, but only to larger, mainland offices. All of this resulted in additional costs and significant inconvenience on our part, taking up valuable time from our vacation.
We requested an invoice for the deductible amount, which we were required to pay by Galdieri, and which was also required by my insurance company. We offered to settle the payment via bank transfer, but this was refused. Instead, we were strongly urged to come to their office in person, with assurances that someone would meet us at the bus stop and assist us in getting there—emphasizing that the most important thing was that we find a way to come. We were told that visiting on Saturday evening (18 April 2026), before our departure back home, would be suitable, and that the invoice would be issued immediately upon payment.
We rearranged our plans accordingly, sacrificing part of our vacation to accommodate this request. Upon arrival, however, no one was there to meet us. We waited for approximately 1.5 hours. We were told that they were very busy, had many clients, and that the information had not been passed on to the staff present.
Eventually, we were taken to the office—but despite prior assurances, the invoice was not issued. We were told that it was not possible to issue invoices on Saturdays, contradicting what had been promised. We were then given yet another promise that the invoice would be sent to my email address.
Fortunately, I verified the email address they had on file, only to discover that it was completely incorrect. Had I not checked, I might never have received the invoice at all. It is unclear whether this error resulted from my handwriting at the time of rental or from their negligence, but notably, all other personal details had been recorded correctly—except for the email address to which they had confidently promised to send the invoice.
Upon leaving, out of frustration, I remarked to another customer waiting in line that I hoped they would not have to experience similar service. In response, one of Galdieri’s staff members shouted after me, in front of approximately 10–15 other customers: “I hope you will not rent a car from Galdieri again.” I replied that I certainly would not. The staff member then further shouted: “Because our cars get stolen with you.”
Such a service is entirely inappropriate and unprofessional.

The rent a car company is definitely a scam. Was charged very low and when I reached here they cancelled my booking because they didnt agree to my Dubai licence which I have used globally and in Europe as well. I had to pay 4 times the money to book a rent a car on the same day.
Really shit experience. The 2.3 stats is for a reason and not sure why Discover Cars works with them.

Absolutely Unacceptable!
Having planned our entire trip based on the car, our experience with this company was a nightmare.
The credit card my husband used to make the reservation was declined due to its short expiration date.
The card expired in 2.5 months instead of 3 so the company could not charge late fees(!) for a possible traffic violation.
We asked them what the point was since someone can cancel a card a week after the rental to avoid these fees.
No answer.
Alternatively, they told me I could use my own credit card for an additional fee, but still the rental was declined because my driver's license was more recent than the company's policy requires.
If the company requires 100 specifications to proceed with a reservation, they should inform customers in advance.
At least they suggested us to another rental company but this doesn't make it a less stressful and awful experience for a family who traveled from abroad.

Very bad experience.
I had booked a car through the company's website using my credit card.
Upon arrival, they informed me that my credit card was not accepted because its expiration date was June 2026, less than the 3 months required by their policy (!).
Alternatively, I used my wife's credit card but again the rental was rejected as her driving license was more recent than the company's policy requires (!).
After 1 hour lost at the counter, I left, losing a reservation that I had made 2 months earlier and whose details the company was aware of.
If the company had a problem with the expiration date of the credit card, they should have informed me from the beginning.
Giving me an unpleasant surprise at the last minute is unprofessional and totally unacceptable.
Stay away!

Our experience as a family with this company was horrific and it was mostly because of the way the issue was handled by a staff member… it was our first time
In Italy and the staff of the branch in Pergamo Airport was beyond unacceptable. Zero customer service skills whatsoever and very patronising tone, and I am being specific for one lady working there on the 11/04/26 around lunchtime, with long dark hair.
We were taken there from the airport to get our car that we had pre-booked (and paid deposit) through a third party, only to discover that they could not accept debit card and that they could not accept our credit card either because it expired in two months ( they only accepted 3 months and over) .The lady working in the counter was constantly saying it is not her company she is just an employee and that she did not make the rules(which we never said she did and we never said it was her fault as both me and my husband work in customer service and know how difficult it can get serving customers), but she was not helping us find a solution. We had an 8 year old and a 4 year old and 5 bags. She just offered us a couple of numbers and none of them was answering. When I asked her to use the toilet as my 4 year old was desperate, she said in a very abrupt and rude voice that they are broken. I had to take my 4 year old outside in public. I honestly believe such people should not be placed in these positions as they have zero empathy and no interest in helping customers whatsoever ( especially customers that do not speak the language and rely on people on customer service positions a lot). When I asked to speak to her supervisor to help us find a solution, since she “was just an employee” , she said her boss cannot be contacted for such a little thing ( my entire family being without a car and therefore without accommodation in a foreign country was “a little thing” for her).I am
glad we met plenty of other Italians, with genuine manners and kindness. She must have been just an exception, thank God! As for this company, please avoid if you can for your own good!

At arrival in the airport I paid a further 247 euros to Galdieri for the full insurance package, this was for the duration of my car hire of one week. This gave me the benefit of knowing I was fully covered if anything happened. Picked up the car on a Sunday and the following Thursday evening I had a tyre blow out on my way to Pisa for dinner with a elderly lady neighbour, we called the breakdown company number on the rental agreement document they supplied and eventually we were told a truck would be arriving within 45 minutes!
It took over 3 hours, after our initial conversation we couldn’t get anyone to answer our return calls.
I managed to contact a neighbour of my friends and fortunately they came for her while I stayed with the car, there was no spare tyre to change and a big hole on the side of the tyre so unable to repair.
The driver of the breakdown vehicle was very unhappy with me when I asked him to drop me back home about 4 miles away and he suggested I call a taxi, we were in the countryside, at midnight with no battery life on my phone as I had been on it constantly for four hours trying to get help.
Fortunately I had a text from the breakdown assistance company telling me where the car would be going that evening to be repaired and I knew that the driver would have to drive through the place I was staying to get there, although he told me he was going in the opposite direction! Fortunately I knew the area and after some shouting and taking photos of his vehicle and license plate he reluctantly agreed to drop me off and I only had a half mile walk to get home.
The next day I managed to get a lift to the tyre fitting company that the breakdown assistance company uses and they told me that a new tyre would be required and it could be ordered immediately for arrival around 5 pm if I paid them 170 euros… I told them the company would pay as they could see in my agreement that I had paid for the assistance insurance to be added with tyres etc included. They told me they would email the company and order when they authorised payment with a returning email, I asked how long that could take and as it was Good Friday it could possibly be the following Tuesday or Wednesday due to the Easter holidays. I was returning to the UK Easter Sunday so I had no choice but to pay him the 170 euros. I got the car back just before the garage closed at 6pm. Full 24 hours without a car.
I returned the vehicle early on the Sunday morning so I could explain my situation with the staff regarding my experience with the evidence of the receipt and the new fitted tyre. The lady looked at the receipt and said she would pass it on to her manager….. nothing reimbursed and no comment from Galdieri….
Good luck if you hire from this company
UPDATE Saturday 18/04/26
Since posting this review I responded to Galdieri requesting further information regarding my experience, my ref number and dates etc… after supplying details they confirmed that by going ahead and paying for the tire I was breaking the rental agreement and would not repay me the €170, although the manager of the garage informed me that a reply from Galdieri could take days over the Easter holiday to get the approval for the repair and I was returning home on Easter Sunday I had no choice but to have them order the tire immediately as it would not arrive until later that evening and if not fitted that day the garage would be on holiday until the following Tuesday!
Absolutely terrible company to deal with after paying the full insurance you expect to be covered, never again!
